LIVING FOR CHRIST TRUTH MEETS REALITY PART 2

LIVING FOR CHRIST TRUTH MEETS REALITY PART 2

THE LIGHT OF TRUTH (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

THE LIGHT OF TRUTH (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

In today’s discussion we will continue to focus our attention on how we are to live daily for Christ by presenting our whole body as a living Sacrifice, because this is how God wants us to live out our lives and the Bible says this to us, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God,to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1 ESV)

Our bodies are the Holy Kingdom of God and that includes our Minds, our Thoughts, our Emotions, our Praise, our Service, it is the entire package of our being.  It is the place the Holy Spirit takes up residents and in order for the Holy Spirit to dwell there continuously we must deny self and allow Truth to become Reality.

How do you understand truth when we allow our negative emotions to take control of our thought process, we speak words that are hurtful and sometimes dangerous to another person’s life, accuse others of thinking more highly of themselves without looking first within ourselves?  Truth is learning to deny self and seek the higher understanding of who God is, who we are and who we are in God.  When we do this we soon discover our own displeasures with our life when we refuse to accept Truth as Reality.  At this point it provides us with an opportunity to re-examine self and place self in its proper perspective for training and future growth in making our bodies holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

In my many years of studying and teaching I have discovered that the hardest thing for a person to do is to let go of self and accept Truth as Reality.  They cling to self by denying Truth, because they believe in self, they love self and really deny truth because truth is too simple for them to wrap their minds around.  It becomes a frighten experience to fully comprehend.  Now I say to you, if you want Truth to be birthed in you, there is only one way for it to happen, and that is, you must let go of self and allow self to die.  It is time that we transform our thinking and begin to live for Christ.

CHILDREN OF GOD, may your day be one of peace, love and joy.  As you live for Christ, allow His blessings to fill you life with the abundantly fruits that He has set aside just for you.  In Jesus name we pray, AMEN!

SEIZE THE MOMENT EACH DAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD

SEIZE THE MOMENT EACH DAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD

Today, I took a walk around the neighborhood and realized that on this earth as it is, we only have this moment to live out the purpose for which God has provided for each one of His Children.  Tomorrow is not promised, this is the moment which God has chosen for us to be true to ourselves and obey His will.  We must learn to, SEIZE THE MOMENT, BECAUSE EACH DAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD.

SNOW FALLS IN THE MOMENT OF TIME (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

SNOW FALLS IN THE MOMENT OF TIME (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

As I stood and looked all around the snow covered grounds, I could sense the present of God’s hand moving me to higher grounds, I heard His voice saying, “now is the time!” You are one of my chosen servants, stop standing around. Then I said, “But God,” God’s voice spoke to me again as I was looking all around and said, “My Son, “now is the time!” I was trying to understand what God was prompting me to do, and at that very moment, these words of scripture flashed into my mind.

Now listen up and try to understand what these beautiful words of scripture were saying, “The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor satisfaction to the wise, or riches to the smart, nor grace to the learned. Sooner or later bad luck hits us all. No one can predict misfortune. Like fish caught in a cruel net or birds in a trap, so men and women are caught By accidents evil and sudden.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 MSG)

THE BEAUTY OF THE SNOWFLAKES (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

THE BEAUTY OF THE SNOWFLAKES (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

As the snow continued to fall, and darkness was coming upon me, I soon realized that all though I was standing in the shadow of space and time, I was truly blessed to be able to see and experience God’s grace all around me.  The beauty of the snowflakes falling and covering all the blight and wounds the neighborhood had sustained over a period of time.  God was injecting new life, not only into the neighborhood but into my mind, when He kept saying to me, “Now is the time.”  As I stood there looking all around, I thought of Moses when he had led God’s people out of slavery and had arrived at the Red Sea, and it seem there was no place to go. Moses was standing there looking up starring at God and God spoke to Moses and said, “Moses, what is that in your hand?”  Moses said, “It’s a rod,” God said, “stretch it out!”  Sometimes, as we stand, looking around in our weariness trying to understand what God is saying, we just have to be obedient to the word of God and just stretch out what God has already placed in our hands.

When we take the time to listen to the words of God, He will speak plainly and tell us just what He wants us to do.  These are the words I heard the voice of God say to me on that snowy day, “SEIZE THE MOMENT EACH DAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD!”  It was the power of those words that got me to thinking, and as I stood there, this scripture came into my thoughts, “Seize life! Eat bread with gusto, Drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes—God takes pleasure in your pleasure!

Dress festively every morning. Don’t skimp on colors and scarves. Relish life with the spouse you love Each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, for there’s neither work to do nor thoughts to think In the company of the dead, where you’re most certainly headed. (Ecclesiastes 9:7-10 MSG)

Now let me encourage each one of you to, “SEIZE THE MOMENT, BECAUSE EACH DAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD!”

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

Shania A. Byars the Dreamer (Photo by Pastor Davis)

Throughout this year we have discussed with you many times the word transformation.”  We have done so because we realized early on as we begin this teaching ministry that in order for us to be successful at what we were doing, we to needed to be in the flow of the transformation process.

We have learned a great deal from your many wonderful comments, and as we continue into 2012, we will apply the knowledge and understanding we gleamed from your thoughts and apply them to our teaching methods in hopes that many more of you will gain some valuable lessons from what is being taught here.

The subject of this lesson is:  “YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY.”  The very first thought in many of your minds will be doubt.  Saying, I don’t have any power.  Others have the power, but I am powerless to transform a single dream I have ever had into reality.  That is truly the kind of negative thinking that hinders you from becoming the genius that God destiny you to become from the very beginning of time.  Now let me encourage you to pause your reading right here for a moment and watch this short video clip as it helps to further engage your mind with great thoughts of manifesting your dreams into reality.  Please continue reading on the other side of this video clip.  After you have completed this message, do not forget to click on the share button and share it on your social networking page as well as with friends and family.

Let us understand this one very important thing in our lives, and that is, our negative thoughts are the seeds we plant in our minds that begins the process of creating lack, poverty and all the things that we have dreamed of having, but have not been able to obtain in our lives thus far.

When your thoughts are always centered on the negative side of life, you set up the conditions which correspondence with the predominant mental attitude in your mind.  Therefore, if we fear disaster, as fear is a powerful form of thought, disaster will be the certain result of our thinking.  It is this form of thought which frequently sweeps away the result of many years of toil and effort.

However, if we begin the process of planting positive seeds in our mind instead of the negative ones and begin to think of some form of material wealth, the results will be that it will show up at the time and place it is most needed.  By concentrated thought the required conditions will be brought about, and the proper effort put forth, which will result in bringing about the circumstances necessary to realize our desires; but we often find that when we secure the things we thought we wanted, they do not have the effect we expected.  That is, the satisfaction is only temporary, or possibly is the reverse of what we expected.

This condition is because, we lack the knowledge of the power and where that power derives from.  Know that God is the source of all power that we have within our physical bodies and spiritual minds.  Therefore, we must learn to lean and depend on God when we are face with the difficult task of the transformation process.  Listen to what God tells us to do, He says, “ Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).  (Jeremiah 33:3).

When you are ready to put your trust in God, the power of transformation will show up on your front door step.  The power to make this happen is already within you.  God gave this power to you from the very beginning of time.  So when you say you are powerless to make your dreams become a reality, think on this, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.  (Psalms 37:4-5 AMP).

We must transform our thinking in order to realize our dreams.  The old orthodox way of thinking was to be “a worm,” to be satisfied with our portion whatever it is; but the modern idea is to know that we are entitled to the best of everything, that the “Father and I are one” and that the “Father” is the UNIVERSAL MIND, the CREATOR, the ORIGINAL SUBSTANCE from which all things proceed.

Now admitting that to transform your thinking from the negative to the positive and it has been taught to us for more than two thousand years, and it is the essence of every system of Philosophy or Religion, then how are we to make it practical in our lives?  How are we to go get the actual, tangible results here and now that will make our dreams become a reality?

First, let us begin by putting our knowledge into practice.  Nothing can be accomplished in any other way.

The athlete may read books and lessons on physical training all his life, but unless he begins to give out strength by actual work he will never receive any strength; he will eventually get exactly what he gives; but he will have to give it first.  It is exactly the same with us; we will get exactly what we give, but we shall have to give it first.  It will then return to us many fold, and the giving is simply a mental process, because thoughts are causes and conditions are effects; therefore in giving thoughts of courage, inspiration, health or help of any kind we are setting causes in motion which will bring about their effect.

Let us understand that your thoughts are spiritual activity and is therefore creative, but make no mistake, thought will create nothing unless it is consciously, systematically, and constructively directed; and herein is the difference between idle thinking, which is simply a dissipation of effort, and constructive thinking, which means practically unlimited achievement.

Remember, you have the power to make the transition from the old person to the new person.  It all lives in the power of your belief system, your thought process.  Now take advantage of the power that God has given to you, stop giving lip service to who and what you are and become the true creative power that lives within.

We minister to you this day from the position of PEACE, PURPOSE, POWER and PROSPERITY.  Learn to think Globally as you work Locally to make this major transition in your life.  I remain your brother in CHRIST, PASTOR DAVIS/MASTER TEACHER!

LIVING IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY

LIVING IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY

CONTINUED FROM:  “HOW DO WE DETERMINE THE BEGINNING”

Let us not dwell upon the sins and mistakes of yesterday so exclusively as to have no energy and mind left for LIVING RIGHTLY IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY,   and do not think that the sins of yesterday can prevent you from living aright today.  Begin today by getting right with the world, and aided by the accumulated experiences of all your past days, learn to live it better than any of your previous days; but you cannot possibly live it better unless you begin it better.  The character of the whole day depends upon the way it is begun.

Another beginning of great importance is the beginning of any particular and responsible undertaking.  How

Mind creates life

does a man begin the building of a house?  He secures a plan of the proposed edifice, and proceeds to build according to the plan, scrupulously following it in every detail, from the foundation up.  Should he neglect the beginning, the obtaining of an architectural plan, his labor would be wasted, and his building, should it reach completion without tumbling to pieces, would be insecure and worthless.  The same law holds well in any important work: the right beginning and first essential is a definite mental plan on which to build.  Nature will have no slip-shod work, no slovenliness, and she annihilates confusion, or rather, confusion is in itself annihilation.  Order, definiteness, purpose, eternally and universally prevail; and he who in his operations ignores these elements of precision at once deprives himself of substantiality, completeness, and the opportunity for success.

Now let us understand that the most important beginning of all, is upon the affliction or blessedness which it inevitably depends, yet the one most neglected and least understood, is the inception of thought that is in the hidden, but causal, region of the mind.  Your whole life is a series of effects, having their cause in thought, in your own thought.  All conduct is made and molded by thought; all deeds, good or bad, are thoughts made visible.  A seed put into the ground is the beginning of a plant or tree; the seed germinates, the plant or tree comes forth into the light and evolves.  A thought put into the mind is the beginning of a line of conduct: the thought first sends down its roots into the mind, thence to push forth into the light in the form of actions or conduct, which evolves into character and destiny.

Loving, gentle, kind, unselfish, and pure thoughts are right beginnings, leading to blissful results.  This is so simple, so plain, so absolutely true; and yet how neglected, how evaded, and how little understood!

The gardener who most carefully studies how, when, and where to put in his seeds gains the greater horticultural knowledge and obtains the best results; the best crops gladden the soul of him who makes the best beginning.  The man, who most patiently studies how to put into his mind the seeds of strong, wholesome, and charitable thoughts, will obtain the best results in life, and gain the greater knowledge of truth.  The greatest blessedness comes to him who infuses into his mind the purest and noble’s thoughts.

None but right acts can follow right thoughts; none but a right life can follow right acts, and by living a right life all blessedness is achieved.

He who considers the nature and import of his thoughts, who strives daily to eliminate bad thoughts and supplant them with good, comes at last to see that thoughts are the beginnings of results which affect every fiber of his being, which potently influence every event and circumstance of his life.  And when he thus sees, he thinks only right thoughts, chooses to make only those mental beginnings which lead to peace and blessedness.

Wrong thoughts are painful in their inception, painful in their growth, and painful in their fruitage.  Right thoughts are blissful in their inception, blissful in their growth, and blissful in their fruitage.

Many are the right beginnings which a man must discover and adopt on his way to wisdom; but that which is first and last, most important and all-embracing, which is the source and fountain of all abiding happiness, is the right beginning of the mental operations, this implies the steady development of self-control, willpower, steadfastness, strength, purity, gentleness, insight, and comprehension.  It leads to the perfecting of life, for he who thinks perfectly has abolished all unhappiness, his every moment is peaceful, his years are rounded with bliss, he has attained to the complete and perfect blessedness.

BEING THE CHILD OF A KING

BEING THE CHILD OF A KING

THE HEART OF THE CROSS IS KING JESUS (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

I declare to you today that “I am the child of a King”, and if you have been born again, so are you.  We must learn to claim our natural birthright, and then begin to live our lives accordingly.  Why not, we are wonderfully made and very precious in His sight.  I am standing today, making this declaration to you, because God wants me to share some words of encouragement to inspire you to stand strong in the face of opposition.  He knows that all of His Children are facing some difficult times, and sometimes the trials and tribulations may seem to be taking us down instead of lifting us up.

For the past few weeks I have been on a journey to provide hope in the face of what seemed hopeless with much sickness, dispair and death in the lives of my family members and friends in a portion that I have not known in precious years.  So much seemed hopeless in the beginning, but then I heard the voice of my God as he spoke to me, and He said, My Servant, My Child, hold your head up, now look towards the hills from which all of your blessings are flowing; you are the proud Child of a King, and as such, I have sent you on a mission to help others, and I need you to be strong and speak truth to power; tell them that, I AM THEIR GOD,” and they are the proud CHILDREN of a KING.  Now give them some words of ENCOURAGEMENT that I have shared with you.

Nothing in life is ever promised to be easy, but the joy of it all is being able to experience the pain without feeling the hurt. No pain, no gain. What we come to understand about this life is that GOD will never put on us more than we can bear. He also promised that He would never leave us are forsake us, and that is one check you can take to the bank.  Trouble and the many trials of life are all around us, and they set before us, much heartache and pain.

I have been there, and I have experienced some of what you are now experiencing, but today I am encouraging you to remain strong, THE DEVIL wants to destroy your MIND by taking you down the road of negativity, and if you give him half a chance he will defeat you.

Let me share with you some THOUGHTS I hope that can encourage you and lift you up and fill your heart

For ever person there is a moment in there lif...

For ever person there is a moment in there life when everyhing changes. As a child, this window was my first view of tragedy, my first thoughts of true love, and all these years later I still wonder what he was going through that day, or he felt. It is just a window. but there is so much more there. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

with peace and joy.

Years ago, I learned an invaluable lesson; whatever we focus on, we become. That simple statement taught me a great deal. Wherever we put our energies or our attention, those things will develop. Another way I like to say it is, “Where the mind goes, the mind follows!”

If I begin to think about eating a delicious peach, I will soon find myself in my car pursuing that peach. My thought will stir my desires and emotions, and I will make the decision to follow them.

If we focus only on the negative things in our lives, we become negative people. Everything, including our conversation, becomes negative. We soon lose our joy and live miserable lives and it all started with our own thinking.

Being the Child of a King, our MINDS should always be centered on the Kingdom that is up above and not the place where we are current residing.  We must put our minds in gear and shift our thoughts to the positive side of life and begin to live in the expectance and abundance of what God has already provided for us, what Jesus died for.

You might be experiencing some problems in life not realizing that you are creating them yourself by what you’re choosing to think about. I challenge you to think about what you’re thinking about!

You might be discouraged and even depressed and wonder what caused it. Yet if you will examine your thought life, you will find that you are feeding the negative emotions you are feeling. Negative thoughts are fuel for discouragement, depression, and many other unpleasant emotions.

We should choose our thoughts carefully. We can think about what is wrong with our lives or about what is right with them. We can think about what is wrong with all the people we are in relationship with or we can see the good and meditate on that. The BIBLE teaches us to always believe the best. When we do that, it makes our own lives happier and more peaceful.

Therefore, I encourage you to remember who you are, and that is, “YOU ARE THE CHILD OF A KING!”  Be Encouraged, that the many trials which you are facing right this very moment are only thoughts in your MIND, and as such, they can be overcome.  Change your thinking, and focus on the positive.  Be Strong, and God will pick you up, clean you up, and fill your life with the abundance of all that He has in store for you.

LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION

LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION

CHILDREN ARE THE MASTERS OF IMAGINATION (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

Today, we are posting here a link to one of the most important post that you may ever read.  It is up as our home page for the rest of this week.

Click on it,  http://www.vineandbranchworldministries.com/use-your-imagination-to-create-your-own-prosperity/   link to it, re-blog it, email it, and share it in your social media network.  The information that it contains can be a game changer for those that are in need of some revitalization in their lives.

Your IMAGINATION is the workshop of your mind, if you want to TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND, find the right job for yourself, start a brand new business, and travel the world, the list of things you want to do can be endless.  The point here is that no matter what it is that you really want to accomplish, you can do it.  Start thinking outside of the box; in other words, begin to use the most powerful tool that GOD has blessed you to have and that is your imagination.  I cannot use your imagination to create for you the prosperity you desire.  No one can do that but you.  The key is to begin by not living in the past but by grabbing hold of the future, the future is NOW.  It is what your THOUGHT PROCESS can generate for you at this very moment.

HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION (PART ONE)

HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION

MEDITATION IS THE RECEIVING PART OF EFFECTUAL PRAYER

Meditation

Meditation (Photo credit: atsukosmith)

This entire week has been dedicated to prayer and praiseYou pray for me and I will pray for you has been the thread that ran through our praying for each other.  Today we are going to take you one step further in teaching you “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION in order to obtain your desired result through your prayers.

The very first thing you must know is this, (Meditation is the receiving part of effectual prayer.)  “Now Pause your thoughts for a moment!”  Read this sentence one more time.  The very first thing you must know is this, (Meditation is the receiving part of effectual prayer.)  It must be understood that we are still in prayer, and are not yet concerned with the expression or manifestation of that for which or about which we pray.  When we think back on how God created everything, we come into the knowledge that first there had to be an idea, then the idea  was in the mind, and then its manifestation.  We must through the effective use of meditation get the idea established in our mind, and we must draw to conscious awareness all that is needful in the way of understanding for the eventual expression and manifestation of the good for which we pray.

Most people fail to understand that not only in intentional prayer but all the time, day and night, night and day, we are responsible for the direction of our mind energyMind energy is no less an energy than are muscle power, electrical power, or atomic power.  In reality, it is infinitely more than any of these lesser expressions of energy.  Do you see what we are considering here?  We are suggesting that mind energy, yours or mine, is greater in potential than any energy that we have conceived of or harnessed to date!  You have, right now, access to control of energy more powerful than that released in an atomic explosion!  “Greater than the tread of mighty armies is an idea whose hour has come.”  This is true because an idea comes into expression by virtue of mind energy.  The mind energy that we utilize within the boundaries of our not knowing may seem limited or even paltry, but it is still mind energy that is without limitation.  We use mind energy or better still, we are mind energy, expressing itself as us or through us and our consciousness according to our awareness of it.  Once we tear away the limitations of not knowing, we shall recognize this energy that lies dormant within our thought process.

Meditation is the vehicle by which we come into control of mind energy and direct it toward the accomplishment of the goals that we set for ourselves through the power of affirmation.  Many human beings, because of not knowing, utilize the power of affirmation to make firm in consciousness those very conditions that they abhor; then the tremendous power that is mind energy goes to work to bring into expression and manifestation the substance and life and power of God in the form of that which they fear or hate.  Job recognized the potency of this divine law working to his detriment when he said, “For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.”  If the law works to our detriment (and we can see evidences of it on every hand), it will work for us also in a positive and constructive sense.

As a part of our prayer discipline every day, there should be times set aside during which we meditate.  One of the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of effective meditation is the mistaken assumption that one should stop thinking, or think about nothing, in meditation.  But that is not possible.  The mind is a mass of energy and ideas, and it is its nature to move either in directions given it or down the habitual lines of least resistance.  If it is our habit to fret and worry and stew about the negative and limiting circumstances of our life experience, our thought process will automatically turn in this direction unless it is otherwise directed.  If we have disciplined ourselves, or will discipline ourselves to the conscious of the one Presence and Power that God is in the very midst of us and all around us, in meditative practice the mind will automatically turn towards God.  Then we will be in the flow of knowing, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!”

This concludes part one, in part two we will teach you how to choose a time and place, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!”  This will be continued in this evening’s session. Please return and complete this very important study.  We bless this word to you today in Jesus name, AMEN!

In the world today we find that people are filled with anxious desires to overcome their present lot in life. Anxieties are running deep in their veins, being faced with much lack of everything that this world has to offer and in their heart of hearts not being able to have the basics necessaries that GOD has promised to them that love and believe in the LORD.  Nevertheless, I say to all the people, know that God never makes a promise that he will not fulfill.  Just hold onto God’s unchanging hands and your storehouse will never be bare.  You see, God has provided the world with all the necessary things for man’s survival in this world.  Remember, there are three basics things that we need for our survival and they are; the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat.  These three basics necessities, God provides them in great abundances’ and they are FREE and without germs are diseases.  FREE YOUR MIND AND BE FREE INDEED

But now I can just here you saying, “I need a job, and without a job how can I have food on my table for me and my family to eat, clothes for my children to wear, money to pay my mortgage and car note, money to keep the lights and gas on in my house, money to send my kids to college.  I will grant you these are important things to consider in helping offset some of these burdens that you are now facing, but are they really the most important things you need to do in order to have a healthy and prosper life style? Think deeply on this for a moment before you continue reading the rest of the story!

Now I say to you, listen carefully to what the word has to say about all of this, it says’ “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

“Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, and do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.  (Matthew 6:25-34 MSG)

You see, in this passage Jesus is trying to bring you into the realization that you are important to Him and you are free of all yokes and bondage of man’s rule over you.  It is not man that is going to provide you with the necessities of this life, but it is God who provides all of those who believe. DO YOU BELIEVE?

The first prerequisite of having the great abundances of this life is to be set FREE.  Your mind has to be FREE of the bondage that is keeping you from having all the things that you desire in this world.  It is not that man is not providing you with a job to meet your basics needs that is hindering you from having.  It is your own thought process that is keeping you from having; your dependences upon another man to provide you with a job, when God has already told you to use your own thought process and you can have anything that you may desire.  Free your mind and be free indeed.  If the Son of God Sets You FREE, you must realize the greatest news of all and that is, “You are truly FREE.”  At a time when Jesus was speaking truth to power, this is what he said to the Jews and what he is saying to you and I right here and now, “Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will FREE you.” (John 8:31-32 MSG)

These are the words of truth that were birthed in you from the beginning of time.  They are the words that will allow you to create that job that you are concern about in order to be in a position to meet your basic worldly needs.  They are the words that will bring about that change from the old man to the new.  They are the words that you can take to the cashier at your bank, present them with a check with whatever amount you desire at the time and be guaranteed it will be cashed with no questions asked.  You are the ruler of your life, the power given to you by the maker and creator of this world.  No man holds power over you but the one you give to hold such power.  And when you are ready to make the change and your determination is so great that you are willing to do whatever is necessary to be the true ruler of your life, the new person in you will show up and nothing can stop you from rising to take your place in this world of great abundance.  The time is now for you to, FREE YOUR MIND AND BE FREE INDEED!”

LIVING FREELY IN TWO WORLDS AT THE SAME MOMENT AND TIME

THE POWER OF THOUGHT

Now let us understand this very important fact, there is a world within each of us—a world of thought and feeling and power; of light and life and beauty and, although invisible, its forces are mighty.

This world that is within us is governed by our mind.  When we discover this world we shall find the solution for every problem, the cause for every effect; and since the world within is subject to our control, and all laws of power and possession are also within our control.

Therefore, our world that is without is a reflection of the world within.  What appears without is what has been found within.  In the world within may be found infinite Wisdom, infinite Power, and infinite Supply of all that is necessary, waiting for enfoldment, development, and expression.  If we recognize these potentialities in the world within they will take form in the world without.

Remember, God created all things, and all things are connected to God, therefore, when we learn that the world that is within, is the world God created for us to discover, learn to live freely in  and enjoy the abundance of fruits He has placed there for each of us. Now watch this video clip and discover your world within.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION TO CREATE YOUR OWN PROSPERITY

USE YOUR IMAGINATION TO CREATE YOUR OWN PROSPERITY

Your imagination is the workshop of your mind, if you want to turn your life around, find the right job for yourself, start a brand new business, travel the world, the list of things you want to do can endless.  The point here is that no matter what it is that you really want to accomplish, you can do it.  Start thinking outside of the box, in other words, begins to use the most powerful tool that God has blessed you to have and that is your imagination.  I cannot use your imagination to create for you the prosperity you desire.  No one can do that but you.  The key is to begin by not living in the past but by grabbing hold of the future, the future is NOW.  It is what your thought process can generate for you at this very moment.  Your imagination will create for you any desired results you may desire.  Now pause your thoughts for a moment and watch this short video and we will continue this discussion on the other side.

Remember, your imagination is that great workshop where all of your plans are created.  Your Desire begins to take shape, form and action begins through your imagination.  You can create anything you can image.  Think great thoughts and great things will manifest themselves right before your very own eyes.  Think negative thoughts and all you will have are negative results.  God created you to be a creative being.  He purposed you with this great tool in order that you may do your part in helping to sustain the operation of this great universe.  Yes, we all are a spoke in the wheel.  Our job is to fix and build while we live.  To do anything less means that we are not living out Gods’ perfect will.

You must begin to play an active role in developing your imagination.  Stop putting off today for tomorrow, because tomorrow is not promise to you.  The time to start is right NOW.  The place to start is right where you AREAllow your imagination to create your prosperity.

I will submit to you that your only limitation within reason lies in the development and use of your imagination.  No matter how young you are, nor how old you are, you have not yet reached the limits of the use of your imagination.  Your thoughts power your imagination.  In actuality, you can say imagination and thoughts are interchangeable.   The key to always being able to have great thoughts is by using your imagination.  You must always look within yourself for all your answers.  Remember, God told us that the Kingdom of heaven is within each one of us.

Therefore, the key to rising above poverty and all that it entails lies with your ability to use your imagination to create your own wealth, and the key to it all lies within your own thought process. As I speak to you right now, I know that you are only using your imagination only in a elementary way.  The time has come for you to change your thinking, garner the knowledge necessary to use the tools of your imagination properly.  Get understanding, seek wisdom as you submit your will to God, and allow him to be your guide.

My friends, I encourage you today, to USE YOUR IMAGINATION TO CREATE YOUR OWN PROSPERITY, and learn to think globally as you work locally.  I minister to you today from a position of peace, purpose, power and prosperity.  I remain your brother in Christ, Pastor Davis/Master Teacher.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE

THE THINKER

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE

We encourage you today to examine your thought life and be encouraged.  Know that this day you are a child of the King, and as such you are precious in His sight. Nothing in life is ever promised to be easy, but the joy of it all is being able to experience the pain without feeling the hurt. No pain, no gain. What we come to understand about this life is that God will never put on us more than we can bear. He also promised that He would never leave us are forsake us, and that is one check you can take to the bank and it will forever pay you more than enough dividends to live on for the rest of your earthy life.

I have been there. I have experienced some of what you are now experiencing in your thought life, but today I am encouraging you to remain strong, the devil wants to destroy your mind by taking you down the road of negativity, and if you give him half a chance he will defeat you.

Let me share with you some thoughts I hope that can encourage you and lift you up and fill your heart with peace and joy.

Years ago, I learned an invaluable lesson; whatever we focus on, we become. That simple statement taught me a great deal. Wherever we put our energies or our attention, those things will develop. Another way I like to say it is, “Where the mind goes, the mind follows!”

If I begin to think about ice cream, I will soon find myself in my car pursuing ice cream.  My thought will stir my desires and emotions, and I will make the decision to follow them.

If we focus only on the negative things in our lives, we become negative people. Everything, including our conversation, becomes negative. We soon lose our joy and live miserable lives and it all started with our own thinking.

We can think about what is wrong with all the people we are in relationship with or we see the good and meditate on that. The Bible teaches us to always believe the best. When we do that, it makes our own lives happier and more peaceful.

I have a great life; I have wonderful children and many beautiful loving grand children. I have been blessed and am privileged to be used by God to bless millions of people around the world through the wonderful ministry He has given me. But life isn’t perfect, and if I had allowed the devil to fill my mind with negative thoughts as he once did long ago, I would have been defeated.

I want to focus on God’s grace and give thanks for all the good things in my life. I don’t want to focus on what I don’t have.

An old friend used to quote this saying: “As you wander on through life, brother, whatever may be your goal, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole.” Too many people focus on what’s not here and what’s not right.

All of this is to say that our thoughts largely determine our destiny. Our thoughts also determine our happiness. Proverbs 23:7 is one of my favorite verses. Thoughts are powerful. They aren’t just words that flow through our minds. So it is very important for us to decide what we will allow to rest inside our minds.

We must not forget that your mind is a battlefield. We must always remember that our adversary will use it in any way he possibly can to trap us. To put it another way, we can’t have a positive life and a negative mind. Our thoughts, our focus are what determine where we end up.

Jesus, our friend and Savior, wants our minds to be filled with positive, beautiful, and healthy thoughts. The more we focus on those things, the more readily we defeat Satan’s attacks.

My Maximized Prayer for you today is this; our heavenly Father, the most high, ever loving and patient God, I ask you to forgive me for focusing my thoughts on things that are not pleasing to you. I pray that you will help me fill my mind with thoughts that are clean and pure and uplifting. Strengthen me in my time of weakness; lift me up so that I may continue to see the beauty in all things that are before me, In Jesus name, Amen.

We have ministered this message to you this day from a position of Peace, power, purpose and prosperity, and it is our hope that it will fill your heart with many great thoughts and much joy.  We bless this to you in the name of Jesus and hope that you will know in your heart that; NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

THE DREAM LIVES IN HER MIND (BY PASTOR DAVIS)

YOUR IMAGINATION CAN IGNITE THE FIRES THAT ARE BURNING WITHIN YOU

YOUR IMAGINATION CAN IGNITE THE FIRES THAT ARE BURNING WITHIN YOU

IMAGINATION!!! YOUR IMAGINATION, now I encourage you to think deeply on that one word. The power that it represents within you, how does it make you feel when you allow it to take a trip in to the unknown?  YOUR IMAGINATION, represents the power that God has invested in you. It is now time to stir up the GIFT of GOD that is in you and become the person God has created you to be. Through your imagination, you can touch and express the inspiration of the Infinite. You are a creative genius, but only when you learn how to use the most important tool that you have in your arsenal, “YOUR IMAGINATION,’’  is truly a gift, now learn to use it and develop it into the power house it was meant to be.  Pause for a moment and watch this short video title, “USE YOUR IMAGINATION NOW TO GAIN YOUR DREAMS.”

Your IMAGINATION enlarges your vision, stretches your mind, and challenges the impossible. Without imagination, your thought process comes to a halt! When you learn how to awaken your imagination through the driving power of your curiosity and discontent, it will provide you with such great power that you never image you had within you before.

You can begin to light up your imagination by stoking your mental fires through the senses—eyes, ears, nose, muscles, skin. You spur your imagination by giving it abundant data with which to work.

You take time for dreams and fantasy, knowing that only as you become as open and receptive as a little child, shall you enter the Kingdom of Ideas. When all of this begins to come into your ream of reality, you will rub shoulders with men and women watching for the creative sparks that generate new concepts and approaches.

By taking the time to stroke your imagination, you learn from that great master of imagination Thomas Alva Edison, who when asked the secret of his inventive genius replied, “I listen from within.”

You learn how to use your imagination to look at everything with fresh eyes, as though you had just come forth from a dark tunnel into the light of day. Your imagination becomes for you a magic lamp with which to explore the darkness of the unknown that you may chart new paths to old goals. You recognize the reality of facts, but you use your imagination to penetrate beneath them and to project your thought beyond them in your search for creative answers to problems.

Now finally, in the words of Shakespeare, “your imagination gives to airy nothing a local habitation and a name.” You reach into the heavens to grasp an idea, and then you bring it down to earth and make it work. Your imagination is your friend, now become friends with your imagination and make it work for you. Learn to work smarter and not harder. Become a creative genius by learning to use your imagination properly. Go where no man has ever dared to go before. You are now the master of your own destination, dare to live the life God has blessed you with, by awaken the genius that lies asleep and is yearning to come forth and take you beyond the realms of your now limited thought process. Your imagination is your key that will unlock the door to your now limited powers and will propel you to new heights that were unimaginable before. “NOW USE IT!”

Now I encourage you to think globally and work locally.  I minister to you today from a position of peace, power, purpose and prosperity.  I remain your brother in Christ, Pastor Davis/Master Teacher.

JESUS SHOWS COMPASSION FOR THE PEOPLE (LESSON ONE)

The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest at the Tem...

Image via Wikipedia

THE HARVEST IS RIPE BUT THE LABORS ARE FEW (MATTHEW 9:36-38)

Now in light of the current crisis that our country is facing, from our government being brought to the brink of a shut down, our credit rating being downgraded, one side of our political spectrum advocating getting rid of the safe nets that are set up to take care of the poor and less fortunate among us, and just a few days ago, an earthquake rumbles through the North Eastern part of the United States, and now this weekend that same section of the United States is facing devastation from Hurricane Irene.

As I sit in prayer and meditation seeking God’s guidance on the message for this weekend, many different signals past through my thought process, and all day long the message that I wanted to share with you all, God kept saying no, stay focus on the people and how they are dealing with their fears and the leaders are handling the major task that they have been assigned, which is to take care of my people, help to keep them out of harm’s way.  It wasn’t until after 9 pm tonight that God spoke clearly to me and said the word, ‘COMPASSION,’ and you shall find it in the good news message that My Son delivered to the people in Matthew 9th chapter.

From that point on my eyes were open and the message God wanted me to share with you is now set before you as a precept to guide you in your purpose and move you swiftly towards your destination.  But first I encourage you to watch this video and think deeply on the words and images that it is sending into your mind, then continue to read and study this message of the Lord’s compassion for His people.

IN discussing this subject, I propose-

I. To consider to whom this precept is addressed,

II. What it means;

III. What is implied in the prayer required?

IV. Show that the state of mind which constitutes obedience to this precept is an indispensable condition of salvation.

In order for me to provide you with the foundation of this message so that it may be grounded in truth, this is the scripture that the Lord gave me to share with you, “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are fewPray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.”-(Matthew 9: 36-38).

I. To whom this precept is addressed, Beyond question, the precept is addressed to all who are under the obligation to be benevolent; therefore, to all classes and all beings upon whom the law of love is imposed. Consequently, it is addressed to all human beings, for all who are human bear moral responsibility — ought to care for the souls of their fellows, and of course fall under the broad sweep of this requisition.

Note the occasion of Christ‘s remark. He was traversing the cities and villages of His country, “teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” He saw multitudes before Him, mostly in great ignorance of God and salvation; and His deeply compassionate heart was moved,” because He saw them fainting and scattered abroad as sheep without a shepherd.” Alas! they were perishing for lack of the bread of heaven, and who should go and break it to their needy souls?

His feelings were the more affected because He saw that they felt hungry. They not only were famishing for the bread of life, but they seemed to have some consciousness of the fact. They were just then in the condition of a harvest-field, the white grain of which is ready for the sickle, and waits the coming of the reapers. So the multitudes were ready to be gathered into the granary of the great Lord of the harvest. No wonder this sight should touch the deepest compassions of His benevolent heart.

II. What is really intended in the precept, Pray ye the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest?”

Every precept relating to external conduct has its spirit and also its letter, the letter referring to the external, but the spirit to the internal; yet both involved in real obedience. In the present case, the letter of the precept requires prayer; but let no one suppose that merely using the words of prayer is real obedience. Besides the words there must be a praying state of mind. The precept does not require us to lie and play the hypocrite before God. No one can for a moment suppose this to be the case. Therefore, it must be admitted that the precept requires the spirit of prayer as well as the letter. It requires first in value a praying state of mind, and then also its due expression in the forms of prayer.

What, then, is the true spirit of this precept? answer, love for souls. Certainly it does not require us to pray for men without any heart in our prayer; but that we should pray with a sincere heart, full of real love for human welfare — a love for immortal souls and a deep concern for their salvation. It doubtless requires the same compassion that Jesus Himself had for souls. His heart was gushing with real compassion for dying souls, and He was conscious that His own was a right state of mind. Therefore, He could not do less than require the same state of mind of all His people. Hence, He requires that we should have real and deep compassion for souls, such compassion as really moves the heart, for such most obviously was His.

This involves a Lull committal of the soul to this object. Christ had committed His soul to the great labor of saving men; for this He labored and toiled; for this His heart agonized; for this His life was ready to be offered; therefore, He could do no less than require the same
of His people.

Again, an honest offering of this prayer implies a willingness on our part that God should use us in His harvest-field in any capacity He pleases. When the farmer gathers his harvest, many things are to be done, and often be needs many hands to do them. Some he sends in to cut the grain, others to bind it; some gather into the barn, and others glean the field, that nothing be lost. So Christ will have a variety of labors for His servants in the great harvest-field; and no men can be of real use to Him unless they are willing to work in any department of their Master’s service, thankful for the privilege of doing the humblest service for such a Master and in such a cause.

Hence, it is implied in honest prayer for this object that we are really committed to the work, and that we have given ourselves up most sincerely and entirely to do all we can for Christ and His cause on earth. We are always on hand, ready for any labor or any suffering. For, plainly, if we have not this mind,we need not think to pray for any good purpose. It would be but a sorry and insulting prayer to say, “Lord, send somebody else to do all the hard work, and let me do little or
nothing.” Everybody knows that such a prayer would only affront God and curse the offered.

Hence, sincere prayer for Christ‘s cause implies that you are willing to do anything you can do to promote its interests, in the actual and absolute devotion of all your powers and resources for this object. You may not withhold even your own children. Nothing shall be too dear for you to offer on God‘s altar.

Suppose a man should give nothing — should withhold all his means and suppress all efforts, only he says he will Pray. He professes indeed to pray. But do you suppose that his prayer has any heart in it? Does he mean what he says? Does he love the object more than all things else? Nay, verily. You never could say that a young man does all he can for Christ‘s harvest if he refuses to go into the field to work, nor that an aged, but wealthy, man is doing all he can if he refuses to give anything to help sustain the field-laborers.

This will conclude Lesson One of this very important lesson. Pass this on to your family, friends and business associates, then stop by tomorrow read and study lesson 2 and we will continue with part III titled, “What, then is implied in really obeying this precept?”   Until we meet again, I say to you, think globally and work locally. We minister to you today from a position of peace, purpose, power and prosperity.  I remain your brother in Christ, Pastor Davis/Master Teacher.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR IMAGINATION ON AN UNIMAGINABLE JOURNEY

HOW TO TAKE YOUR IMAGINATION ON AN UNIMAGINABLE JOURNEY

By using your imagination, and daily taking it on an unimaginable journey, you will quickly discover that your day is becoming much more exciting and interesting. You will find yourself more motivated and happy. In the height of their journey, we discovered that most adults grew out of their imagination; therefore, they became more easily stressed out. By learning to take control of your imagination and by expanding it, you will be feeling much more calm and carefree.

Now let us begin this journey by providing you with a working definition of the word IMAGINATION.  Imagination is also called the faculty of imagining, it is the ability of forming mental images, sensations and concepts, in a moment when they are not perceived through sight, hearing or other senses. Imagination is the work of the mind that helps create.

Imagination helps provide meaning to experience and understanding to knowledge; it is a fundamental facility through which people make sense of the world, and it also plays a key role in the learning process.

A basic training for your imagination is listening to storytelling (narrative), in which the exactness of the chosen words is the fundamental factor to “evoke worlds.”

It is accepted as the innate ability and process of inventing partial or complete personal realms within the mind from elements derived from sense perceptions of the shared world. The term is technically used in psychology for the process of reviving in the mindpercepts of objects formerly given in sense perception. Since this use of the term conflicts with that of ordinary language, some psychologists have preferred to describe this process as imaging or imagery or to speak of it as “reproductive” as opposed to “productive” or “constructive” imagination. Imagined images are seen with the mind’s eye.”

Imagination can also be expressed through stories such as fairy tales or fantasies. Most famous inventions or entertainment products were created from the inspiration of someone’s imagination.

The human imagination has given rise to all sorts of aspects of culture and society which define who we are – art, literature, science, religion, almost all human endeavors is underpinned by imagination.

Your IMAGINATION represents the power that God has invested in you.  It is now time to stir up the GIFT of GOD that is in you and become the person God has created you to be.  Through your imagination, you can touch and express the inspiration of the Infinite.  You are a creative genius, but only when you learn how to use the most important tool that you have in your arsenal, “YOUR IMAGINATION,’’ to develop it into the power house it was meant to be.

The ability to simulate has allowed us to develop all the technology we have today. Starting with flint axes – if someone had not imagined all the things he or she may be able to do with a sharp piece of stone, nobody would have invented one. The same is true of all technology, and all science. It’s all about imagining ‘what might happen if…’.

In Aristotle, the imagination bridges the gap between “images” and “ideas,” implying that rational thought takes place in the form of images, and are stored and combined in the imagination.  Thus, imagination is implied as an actual space or medium in the individual’s mind, and in this space, it has a power to combine images and ideas to do the work of reason.

IMAGES OF THE THOUGHT PROCESS

How the conscious and subconscious mind operate to keep you healthy

Our minds, which includes the conscious and subconscious mind is under the direct control of God, and God never makes a mistake when it comes to the physical healing of our bodies.  God is telling us it is now time to transform our thinking, allow new ideals to be awaken in our minds in such a way that our minds will begin to create the necessary healing that will make our bodies whole again and expectable to Christ.

Now listen to how the Lord appeals to us, He says,  1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”  (Romans 12:1-2 AMP)

When God created man in his own image and likeness, he created a perfect individual that could operate on its own individual systems, but that will always be connected to the one present in the universe that sustains all life, that is the creator himself.  He gave man a body, a mind and a soul.  The body was to house the mind and soul of man which would operate to take care of the man needs.  The conscious mind of man was put in charge of the subconscious mind.  Our mind is so designed that it prepares for us the most important foundations of cognition, whilst we have not the slightest apprehension of the modus operandi.

The subconscious soul, like a benevolent stranger, works and makes provision for our benefit, pouring only the mature fruit into our lap; thus ultimate analysis of thought processes shows that the subconscious is the theatre of the most important mental phenomena.

The value of the subconscious is enormous; it inspires us, it warns us; it furnishes us with names, facts, and scenes from the storehouse of memory.  It directs our thoughts, tastes, and accomplishes tasks so intricate that no conscious mind, even if it had the power, has the capacity for.

We can walk at will; we can raise the arm whenever we choose to do so; we can give our attention through eye or ear to any subject at pleasure.  On the other hand, we cannot stop our heart beats or the circulation of the blood, nor the growth of stature, nor the formation of nerve and muscle tissue, nor the building of the bones, nor many other important vital processes.

If we compare these two sets of action, the one decreed by the will of the moment, and the other proceeding in majestic, rhythmic course, subject to no vacillation, but constant at every moment, we stand in awe of the latter, and ask to have mystery explained.  We see at once that these are the vital processes of our physical life, and we cannot avoid the inference that these all important functions are designedly withdrawn from the domain of our outward will with its variations and transitions, and placed under the direction of a permanent and dependable power within us.

Of these two powers, the outward and changeable has been termed the Conscious Mind,” or the “Objective Mind” (dealing with outward objects).  The interior power is called the Subconscious Mind,” or the “Subjective Mind,” and besides its work on the mental plane it controls the regular functions which make physical life possible.

The subconscious mind never sleeps, never rests, any more than does your heart, or your blood.  It has been found that by plainly stating to the subconscious mind certain specific things to be accomplished, forces are set in operation that lead to the result desired.  Here, then, is a source of power which places us in touch with the God who never sleeps or slumbers. You can now clearly see that the power to heal your physical body and transform you into a brand new work of art is in your control.  By suggesting to your subconscious mind the healing that you require for your body is only a thought away, now let the healing begin.  Use the power God has placed in your hand to heal your wounded body.

Unlimited Potential of the Human Mind

WHAT IS THE MIND?

Our mind is a complex instrument that God has created within us to guide us to a higher level of learning and giving us the power to go where no man has ever gone before.  It is a powerful tool, that we will always use, to live and explore the creation of our thought process, and just having the knowledge that it is given to us freely to use at our own free will is an awesome vision.

Therefore, in order to provide you with greater knowledge of how to live a healthier life through our teaching on Health and Healing your physical body using your own mind power, we felt it necessary to give you an explanation of WHAT IS THE MIND.

The Encyclopedia say that the concept of mind is understood in many different ways by many different traditions, ranging from panpsychism and animism to traditional and organized religious views, as well as secular and materialist philosophies. Most agree that minds are constituted by conscious experience and intelligent thought.

Attributes of the mind include perceptionreasonimagination, memoryemotionattentionfree-will and a capacity for communication. A rich set of unconscious processes are also included in many modern characterizations of mind.

Theories of mind and its function are numerous. Earliest recorded speculations are from the likes of Zoroasterthe BuddhaPlatoAristotle, and other ancient GreekIndian and, later, Islamic and medieval European philosophers. Pre-modern understandings of the mind, such as the neoplatonic nous saw it as an aspect of the soul, in the sense of being both divine and immortal, linking human thinking with the un-changing ordering principle of the cosmos itself.

Which attributes make up the mind is much debated. Some psychologists argue that only the “higher” intellectual functions constitute mind, particularly reason and memory. In this view the emotions—lovehatefearjoy—are more primitive or subjective in nature and should be seen as different from the mind as such. Others argue that various rational and emotional states cannot be so separated, that they are of the same nature and origin, and should therefore be considered all part of what we call the mind.

In popular usage mind is frequently synonymous with thought: the private conversation with ourselves that we carry on “inside our heads.” Thus we “make up our minds,” “change our minds” or are “of two minds” about something. One of the key attributes of the mind in this sense is that it is a private sphere to which no one but the owner has access. No one else can “know our mind.” They can only interpret what we consciously or unconsciously communicate.

The mind is generally synonymous with thought. After all, people do ‘make up their minds,’ ‘change their minds’ or are ‘in two minds’ about something. Surely, though, the mind is more than the ability to think. So, then, WHAT IS THE MIND? What does it do? Is it different from the brain – or are they one and the same? These questions keep many neuroscientists’ minds busy, as they attempt to find the exact answers to these ‘mind boggling’ questions.

More than 4,000 years ago, Egyptians considered the brain worthless, believing the heart contained the soul and the mind. This ancient belief lives on in the English language: to route learn something is to ‘learn it by heart’; to have lost a loved one is to suffer ‘ a broken heart’ and to think of someone fondly is ‘to be in one’s heart’.

About 2 000 years later, a Greek philosopher was the first to believe that consciousness arose in the brain. Hippocrates was of the same mind, “It is the brain that is the messenger to the understanding [and] the brain interprets the understanding.” These, however, were unconfirmed theories.

Plato and other Greek Philosophers believed that the soul [mind] was immortal, surviving the death of the body. Years later, in the 1620s, mathematician and philosopher Rene Descartes, in his dissections of the human brain, saw no physical soul in the body, and thus concluded the soul [mind] as noncorporeal: operating within the machine, but not part of it – the ‘ghost in the machine’ as it was described by Philosopher Gilbert Ryle in 1947. Eastern religions, namely Hinduism and Buddhism, also carry this belief to this day.

Therefore, in trying to answer the question of how can something of no substance – be it the sense of self, the mind or the soul – can exist in a physical structure (brain or body), the theory of dualism was born. That is, the mind is separate from the brain – independent in existence and nonspatial in substance. The dualism concept is also evident, although subtly, in modern science: neurologists treat disorders of the brain, and psychiatrists and psychologists treat disorders of the mind.

The following was Extracted from the book Transform Your Life by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Some people think that the mind is the brain or some other part or function of the body, but this is incorrect. The brain is a physical object that can be seen with the eyes and that can be photographed or operated on in surgery.

The mind, on the other hand, is not a physical object. It cannot be seen with the eyes, nor can it be photographed or repaired by surgery. The brain, therefore, is not the mind but simply part of the body.

There is nothing within the body that can be identified as being our mind because our body and mind are different entities. For example, sometimes when our body is relaxed and immobile, our mind can be very busy, darting from one object to another. This indicates that our body and mind are not the same entity.

In Buddhist scriptures, our body is compared to a guest house and our mind to a guest dwelling within it. When we die, our mind leaves our body and goes to the next life, just like a guest leaving a guest house and going somewhere else.

If the mind is not the brain, nor any other part of the body, what is it? It is a formless continuum that functions to perceive and understand objects. Because the mind is formless, or non-physical, by nature, it is not obstructed by physical objects.

It is very important to be able to distinguish disturbed states of mind from peaceful states. As explained in the previous chapter, states of mind that disturb our inner peace, such as anger, jealousy, and desirous attachment, are called ‘delusions’; and these are the principal causes of all our suffering.

We may think that our suffering is caused by other people, by poor material conditions, or by society, but in reality it all comes from our own deluded states of mind. The essence of spiritual practice is to reduce and eventually to eradicate altogether our delusions, and to replace them with permanent inner peace. This is the real meaning of our human life.

The essential point of understanding the mind is that liberation from suffering cannot be found outside the mind. Permanent liberation can be found only by purifying the mind. Therefore, if we want to become free from problems and attain lasting peace and happiness we need to increase our knowledge and understanding of the mind.
