TIME OUT FOR PREACHING ONLY FEEL GOOD SERMONS

TIME OUT FOR PREACHING ONLY FEEL GOOD SERMONS

Paul’s message to all of us is simply this, “WE AS PREACHERS MUST PREACH JESUS!”  He says, “You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:1-2 MSG)

This is how Paul preached his message of Jesus to the church of Corinth.  It is a well taught lesson that we all as preachers, teachers and ministers of the gospel must take to heart and stand before the throne of grace and speak truth to power.

TIME OUT FOR PREACHING ONLY FEEL GOOD SERMONS

Too many of us have just become feel good preachers, using whatever technique it takes to get the people out of their seats and hollowing and shouting, making them feel good for the moment, without any knowledge are understanding of what we are preaching about, other than that they feel good at the moment.  Jesus has been left out of the entire reason for the sermon in the first place.

I can personally say that personal testimony often opens the door for audiences to listen when any other approach would meet deaf ears.  Paul opened himself to the people with broken heart.  They knew his preaching style.  Certainly it was not marked with human wisdom or style.  Only the subject mattered: telling people about God.  Preaching does not center on personal abilities or personal experiences.  Preaching goes right to the cross and preaches how Jesus died for you.  Don’t spend time arguing about human style or leadership.  Tell people about Jesus, and thank Jesus for what He did for you.

Now I ask you this question, “what does preaching show off?   I say to you, too many people want it to demonstrate the latest techniques of eloquence or the latest findings of scholarship and archaeology.  Gospel preaching shows something else.  Focus fades from the preacher.  Spotlight comes up on the Spirit and His power to persuade.  Preaching points beyond the preacher to the One preached.  Why?  Because faith in the preacher leads only to disappointment and weakness, Faith must be in God and His power.

Surely, preaching involves wisdom.  No one wants to hear something that makes no sense and leads to no purpose.  Preaching has its own kind of wisdom, a wisdom that leads you away from any person and leads you to God.  This wisdom shows you no human achievement.  It concentrates on God’s achievement:  God has fulfilled His purposes in Jesus Christ.  Worldly study and worldly wisdom would never know this.  Worldly wisdom crucifies Christ.  God’s wisdom proclaims Christ.  Only a person to whom God has revealed His secrets, His mysteries, will know it.  That person must preach God’s wisdom, not human wisdom.

What lessons have you as a preacher or teacher of the gospel learned, that can better help focus the people’s attention on Jesus as opposed to yourself, as you are standing before God’s people and preaching His Holy Word?  Do you always preach Jesus, are do you preach the short feel good message?

What lessons have you as a hearer and or doer of the word learned from listening to us preachers preach the gospel, that disappoints you the most are lifts you higher to praise and worship that will better help us to understand how you are feeling when those of us are preaching Jesus as opposed to those of us who are preaching a feel good message that only last until you walk out of the door?

My brother and sisters, I suggest to you today, that it is, “TIME OUT FOR PREACHING ONLY FEEL GOOD SERMONS!”  It is time to come boldly before the throne of grace and PREACH JESUS.

THE TIME IS NOW TO RENEW YOUR SPIRITUAL VITALITY

THE TIME IS NOW TO RENEW YOUR SPIRITUAL VITALITY

Experiencing Fall on the Ranch in Sautee, Ga. (Photo by Pastor Davis)

Children of God, listen up, because time is not waiting on any of us.  There is much work to be done.  The time is now to renew your spiritual vitality.  You must revitalize your ordinary life, your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and just walking around life, and place it before God as an offering.  You must stop living in the traditional way of just doing what has been acceptable as part of your culture, that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead the time is now for you to fix your attention on God.  Get into the Spiritual Race and allow the Holy Spirit to transform you from the inside out.

You can take what I have to say to you here right now as mean less, are you can get up from sitting in front of that television screen are just lounging around in your bed.  The choice is yours.  It is time to stop making excuses are blaming others for your lack of energy and enthusiasm for overcoming your weakness in being a true Christian that God has ordain you to be, because God wants you to renew your Spiritual Vitality and do it NOW!

Now listen to what the scripture teachesus, it says, “Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start

running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”

In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don’t feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children?

My dear child, don’t shrug off God’s discipline,
but don’t be crushed by it either.
It’s the child he loves that he disciplines;
the child he embraces, he also corrects.

God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; its training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God’s training so we can truly live? While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God’s holy best. At the time, discipline isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God. (Hebrews 12:1-11 MSG)

Now let me close with this final thought for each one of you who have taken the time to read this entire lesson and the many lessons we teach here daily, “Think globally, and work locally. Looking beyond ourselves in the real and on line world, to reach out to others who might be in need, for we all are truly our Brothers Keeper, salvation is FREE for the asking.

If you have not experienced the life saving blood of Jesus Christ, stop and take a moment wherever you may be, and ask the Lord to come into your life. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and if you have spoken these few simple words in truth, you are saved, and now have eternal life. It you have received and experience His Life saving blood, remember this, “THE TIME IS NOW TO RENEW YOUR SPIRITUAL VITALITY!”

May God continue to bless each one of you? Today I minister to you from a position of peace, power, purpose and prosperity in Jesus name. I remain Pastor Davis/Master Teacher.

TODAY’S MESSAGE–BE BLESSED

Words have a power all their own

Words have a power all their own (Photo credit: Lynne Hand)

Now as you read and study our message today title, TODAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED!”  Let it be a reflection of the light that shines in your soul. Put it together with the musical message that is presented in this video and you can now begin to experience your many blessings God has favored you with for all eternity.  “BE BLESSED MY FRIENDS!”

GOD IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD (GENESIS 1:1-5, 1John 1:5-6)

Darkness Over Eden 2709

DARKNESS OVER EDEN IN 2709

GOD IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD (GENESIS 1:1-5, 1John 1:5-6)

ARE YOU REFLECTING THAT LIGHT?

As we begin this study of Living in the light as light, we begin with two precepts.  First, we begin with light as the substance that illuminates the world.  Second we come into the knowledge and understanding as to whom and what the substance that illuminates the world is.

Let me give you a working definition of the word light; it is something that makes things visible are affords illuminations.  In Physics it is also called, luminous energyradiant energy. electromagnetic radiation to which the organs of sight react, ranging in wavelength from about 400 to 700 nm and propagated at a speed of 186,282 mi./sec (299,972 km/sec), considered variously as a wave, corpuscular, or quantum phenomenon.

The state of being visible, exposed to view, or revealed to public notice or knowledge; limelight: Stardom has placed her in the light. A person who is an outstanding leader, celebrity, or example; luminary: He became one of the leading lights of Restoration drama. A gleam or sparkle, as in the eyes.  A measure or supply of light; illumination:  The wall cuts off our light, Spiritual illumination or awareness; enlightenment.  Now let us pause for a moment and watch this short video presentation of God’s amazing light in the creation story of light in the Universe and we will return on the other side of this video presentation.

Now let us look at just how this light came into its existence.  In order to do so let’s begin with Genesis 1:1-5 (Amplified Bible1IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.  And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.  This had to be one of the most profound moments in the history of the universe.  God spoke the word, “LET” and let went into action.  It did not waste any time.  It obeys the master’s command.  Did just what it was told to do and lit up the entire universe.

This was the very moment in time that any form of light existed upon the earth.  Do not allow your mind to become confused with the establishment of the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day.  You see it was not until the fourth day that the Lord set the sun, moon, and stars in the heavens as light bearers and as means for establishing a calendar.

4And God saw that the light was good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it; and God separated the light from the darkness.(B)

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

Now the entire universe has experienced the awesome power and beauty of this light that shines forever to provide us with the light of a loving God who allows His marvelous light to light up the entire universe.

Now we can stand and tell the world that we are living in that light and that same light is reflecting from us to all that see us.  We are truly that marvelous light and in us that believe, there exist no darkness.

In our second precept, we stated that we would come into the knowledge and full understanding as to whom and what the substance that illuminates the world is.  In order for us to do that, let us take a compelling look at the life of Jesus, the son of God who became the living light. Now listen to what the word tells us, it says, “And this is the message [the message of [a]promise] which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all [[b]no, not in any way].”

6[So] if we say we are partakers together and enjoy fellowship with Him when we live and move and are walking about in darkness, we are [both] speaking falsely and do not live and practice the Truth [which the Gospel presents]. (1 John 1:5-6) (AMP)

When Jesus was on earth, his divine life illuminated the inner lives of his followers.  Everywhere he was present, he gave light.  This light penetrated people, exposing their sin and revealing divine truth.  No one could come into contact with Jesus without being enlightened.

God is light; He is the light of the world.  For so many of us, we have taken this light for granted.  When we awaken each day, we believe that this light will always be there without ever giving it a second thought of how it got there and how it remains there for our lives to exist from.

Let us reflect upon this thought for a moment; Light enables people to do their work.  It produces growth in crops; it reveals beauty and provides safety.  Light represents what is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable.  Light reveals; light shines.  God is so completely “light” that there is no darkness in him at all.  Darkness represents what is sinful and evil.  God is untainted by any evil or sin.  Thus, “God is light” means that God is perfectly holy and true and that he alone can guide people out of the darkness of sin.

While “light” have many connotations, this reference points specifically to God’s purity.  Therefore, those who claim to have fellowship with God are living in God’s light, trying to live holy and pure lives for him.  To claim to belong to God but then to go on living in spiritual darkness is hypocritical.  Christ will expose and judge such deceit.

Now let us for a moment take a close look at how John confronted the first of three claims of the false teachers.  When you open your bibles to (1 John 1:8 then to 1 John 1:10), you will see that John was exposing the false teachers who said that people can have fellowship with God and still walk in sin.  False teachers who thought that the physical body was evil or worthless taught one of two approaches to behavior; either they insisted on denying bodily desires through rigid discipline, or they approved of gratifying every physical lust because the body was going to be destroyed anyway.  Here John was stating that no one could claim to be a Christian and still live in evil and immorality.

Those who claim to follow the Son must be living in the light of God’s presence.  They must be illumined by the truth of God’s character.  To “live in the light” requires constant contact with God and no tolerance for dishonesty, hypocrisy, or sin.  Living in the light comes from continuous effort to take on Christ’s qualities.  This involves complete transformation from within.

Living in the light leads to fellowship with each other.  This fellowship among believer’s, results from each believer having fellowship with God.  True spirituality manifests itself in community fellowship.  One cannot say that he or she communes with God and then refuse to commune with God’s people.  Such was the case with some of the false teachers of John’s day, and this situation exists among false cults today.  Often their followers and leaders claim to have special relationships with God, but they do not affiliate with other believers.  They stay isolated and withdraw from everyone else.  John’s point is that the natural result of living in the light (in fellowship with God) should be joyful relationships with other Christians.

Another result of living in the light is that the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin.  John emphasized that the death of Christ saves people, not the false teachers’ knowledge.  The verb cleanses also means “purifies.”  Sin is not only forgiven, it is completely erased.

Now as we conclude this message, let us turn to (1 John 2:5-6) (AMP) and here we will close with a final thought on the word “Obedience.”

5But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him:

6Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as [a]a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

When we talk about obedience, it is linked not merely with knowing God but with loving him.  Those who obey God’s word really do love him.  By this obedience and love, believers can know that they live in him.  They are living in the light.  Jesus portrayed in human terms absolute obedience to the Father.  Anyone who wonders how to obey God can look at Jesus.  Those who truly desire to live in God should live their lives as Christ did.  To “live as Christ did” does not mean choosing twelve disciples, performing great miracles, and being crucified.  People cannot merely copy Christ’s life.  Much of what Jesus did had to do with his identity as God’s Son and his special role in dying for sin.  Anyone’s claim to live in Christ must be backed up by following his example of complete obedience to God and loving service to people.  Then you can truly say that you are living in the light and your life is reflecting that light.  Therefore, in you there is no darkness, no evil exist nowhere in your life.  You are a walking, talking living example of Christ.

Take a moment wherever you may be, and ask the Lord to come into your heart.  Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and if you have spoken these few simple words in truth, you are saved, and now have eternal life. May the grace of God abide in you now and forever, in Jesus name,  Amen.

ARE YOU PREPARED TO FIGHT AND WIN? (PART 4)

LEARNING TO WALK BY THE SPIRIT

If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] (Galatians 5:25) AMP

In lesson three, we were treated with the unique prospective of how the Holy Spirit has worked as a personal trainer for us to become physically fit as well as spiritually fit.

Now let us look at just how we can obtain that goal:  You have heard the expression, he are she is just a couch potato.  There is no need for you to allow this to happen to you.  You can start by pushing the off button on that remote that lays beside you in the bed are on the couch.  You see the T.V. has become Satin’s greatest avenue of convincing you that he is in control of your life. He acts out your life for you; he carries on the conversation in your house for you.  He thinks for you.  Finally, when he has total control of your mind and body, he zaps your physical strength by keeping you in bondage as a couch potato where he can watch over you.  You never seen to have the strength are desire to do any type of physical exercise.

Now it is time that you begin to fight and fight to win. You can beat Satin at his own game if you would only stop being a couch potato, learn to walk by the Spirit, step outside and rediscover the beauty that God has blessed you to be able to observe.  Begin to take a daily walk 30 minutes to an hour will do.  You will soon discover your physical strength returning to you, your spiritual mind has taken control and now you are beginning to walk by the true spirit of God.  You see your body is an electrical and mechanically flesh and blood piece of machinery.  It responds to the signals given to it by the minds energy field.

Its batteries need to be recharged regularly in order for it to function at its maximum capacity, and one of the ways to recharge those batteries is a daily walk.  Do not just stroll down the walkway in a hurry to return for more of satin games.  Make your walk meaningful by looking around, relaxing and becoming one with God, the universe is there waiting for you to re-discover.

God ideal for the believer is that we live our lives in the realm of the Holy Spirit.  Walking in the Spirit, the exercise we should strive for refers to one’s lifestyle.  In other words, we are to live a lifestyles characterized by the Person and work of the Spirit of God.  To be led by the Spirit suggests that same Spirit directs our lifestyle.  It means we allow Him to point the way, to navigate us through the turns and intersections of life.

When you are truly walking by the Spirit, in line with the Spirit, maintaining your cover and alignment, you cannot be seen; only He can be seen.  When people look at you, they see Him.  When you speak, He speaks.  Walking in the Spirit is not so much you becoming an extension of God the Holy Spirit, but the Spirit of God living in you, living through you, touching lives through you, and blessing others through you.

Walking by the Spirit means you stay in line with God.  It means you do not break the line.  It means you do not get out of line.  You do not move until it is your turn.   It means you live your life following the lead of the Holy Spirit.

Some of you are losing battles you should be winning because you are not in shape.  It is not just that Satan and his pimps are on your trail.  Some demons cannot be cancelled out.  They have to be cast out.  Jesus said some demons come out only by fasting and prayer.  Fasting and
prayer are essential exercises.  Some of you are holy but ungodly.  You come to church every Sunday, but you are not in shape.  You cannot work out once a week and expect to see results.  Walking through the gym once a week does not get you in shape.  God has called you to be a godly woman or a godly man.  He wants your relationship with Him to be manifested in your conduct and actions.  Godliness is not measured by your behavior in church or the way you conduct yourself in the spotlight.  God wants you to leave your church seat, walk out of the door back out into the world, and do what He has called you to do, the way He has called you to do it.

Few pastors are calling the people to godliness.  Pastors are tailoring their sermons to fit
the exercise of their congregation, showing them how to access the riches of God, making the aim the blessing.  The aim should be the One from whom all blessings flow.  People of God are working to get stuff, more money, bigger houses, and nicer cars.  However, effective ministry, ministry for the kingdom of God, can only flow out of a godly lifestyle.  All gain beyond Christ
is not true gain, but a weight that hinders our progress toward God.

It is time to get in shape.  Sign up for a heavenly gym membership.  There is open enrollment.  And what a deal!  Jesus paid the price in full at Calvary.  But don’t be satisfied with just signing
up.  Go on and work out.  Stick with the program.  You will soon see the results you have been
looking for.  Remember, winners never quit and quitters never win.  Now is the time to get up off that couch, stop being called a couch potato and begin to fight to win.  Learn to walk by the
Spirit and be counted among the stars.

But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). (Galatians 5:16 AMP) DO IT NOW!
