BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN GROW UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST

BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN GROW UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST

THE SON OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

CHILDREN OF GOD, as we stand before the throne of grace, in the awesome power of God who holds the entire UNIVERSE in the palm of His Hands, we are asking you to CONCEIVE and BELIEVE in your MINDS that we can, “GROW UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST.”

Therefore, as we enter into this CHRISTMAS SEASON, we ask you simply to BELIEVEBELIEVE that we were created in the image of God and given His Character that we may grow up in His grace.  We can do nothing of our own.  Our growth is totally depended upon the actions of God.  Everything in the Universe was created by God and for God that it may grow and flourish in the manner God has chosen it to be.  Therefore, as a newborn creature in this life, “our mission is to grow up in the grace of Jesus Christ.”

Now the question becomes, how do we accomplish our mission that God has given us?  As with all life, so it is with growth.  We must learn to lean and depend on the maker and giver of all life.  Know that it is only God, who brings the bud to bloom and the flower to fruit. It is by his power that the seed develops,” first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.” Mark 4:28.

The plants and flowers grow not by their own care, anxiety, or effort, but by receiving that which God has furnished to minister to their life. The child cannot by any anxiety or power of its own, add to its own stature. No more can you, by anxiety or effort of yourself, secure spiritual growth.  No, all life is the mystery and work of God provided to us through His power and grace.

The plant, as well as the child, grows by receiving from its surroundings that which ministers to its life – air, sunshine, and food. What these gifts of nature are to animal and plant, such is Christ to those who trust in him. He is there” everlasting light,”  “a sun and shield.”  Isaiah 60:19; Psalms 84:11, he shall be as” the dew unto Israel.” “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass.” Hosea 14:5; Psalms 72:6. He is the living water,” the bread of God… Which cometh down from heaven, and gives life unto the world” John 6:33!

As the flower turns to the sun, that the bright beams of day aid in perfecting its beauty and symmetry, so should we turn to the Son of righteousness, that heavens light may shine upon us, that our character may be developed into the likeness of Christ.

Jesus teaches the same thing when he says, “abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine; no more can ye, except he abide in me… Without me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5. You are just as dependent upon Christ, in order to live a holy life, as is the branch upon the parent stock for growth and fruitfulness. Apart From Him, you have no life. You have no power to resist temptation or to grow in grace and holiness. Abiding in him, you may flourish. Drawing your life from him, you will not wither nor be fruitless. You will be like a tree, planted by the rivers of water.

Many have an idea that they must do some part of the work alone. They have trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of sin, but now they seek by their own efforts to live aright. However, every such effort must fail. Jesus says,” Without me ye can do nothing.” Our growth in grace, our joy, our usefulness, all depend upon our union with Christ. It is by communion with him, daily, hourly, by abiding in him, that we are to grow in grace. He is not only the author, but the finisher of our faith. It is Christ first, last, and always. He is to be with us, not only at the beginning and the end of our course, but at every step of the way.” I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalms 16:8.

By faith, you became Christ’s, and by faith, you are to grow up in him through grace, by giving and taking. You are to give all, your heart, your will, your service, give yourself to him to obey all his requirements; and you must take all, Christ, the fullness of all blessings, to abide in your heart, to be your strength, your righteousness, your everlasting helper, to give you power to obey, and when you do all these things, your GROWING UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST is now under way.  Now you must stay focus and keep your eye on the prize.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERIOUS TRUTHS OF SPIRITUAL LIFE?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERIOUS TRUTHS OF SPIRITUAL LIFE?

THE SUNFLOWER (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

THE SUNFLOWER (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

Growing up into Christ (YOU ARE TRULY DIVINE)

The change of heart by which we become children of God is in the Bible spoken of as birth. Again, it is compared to the germination of the good seed sown by the husbandman. In like manner those who are just converted to Christ are,” as newborn babies,” to grow up” to the stature of the men and women in Christ Jesus1 Peter 2:2; Ephesians 4:15. Or like the good seed sown in the field, they ought to grow up and bring forth fruit. Isaiah says that they shall” be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3. Therefore, from natural life, illustrations are drawn, to help us better understand the mysterious truths of spiritual life.

Not all the wisdom and skill of command can produce life in the smallest object in nature. It is only through the life which God himself has imparted, that either plant or animal can live. Therefore, it is only through the life from God that spiritual life is begotten in the hearts of man. Unless a man is “born from above,” he cannot become a partaker of the life, which Christ came to give. John 3:3.

As with life, so it is with growth. It is God, who brings the bud to bloom and the flower to fruit. It is by his power that the seed develops,” first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.” Mark 4:28. Moreover, the prophet Hosea says to Israel, that “he shall grow as the Lily.”  “They shall revise as the corn, and grow as the vine.” Hosea 14:5, 7.  And Jesus bids us” consider the lilies how they grow.” Luke 12:27. The plants and flowers grow not by their own care, anxiety, or effort, but by receiving that which God has furnished to minister to their life. The child cannot by any anxiety or power of its own, add to its own stature. No more can you, by anxiety or effort of yourself, secure spiritual growth. The plant, the child, grows by receiving from its surroundings that which ministers to its life – air, sunshine, and food. What these gifts of nature are to animal and plant, such is Christ to those who trust in him. He is there” everlasting light,”  “a sun and shield.”  Isaiah 60:19; Psalms 84:11, he shall be as ” the dew unto Israel.” “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass.” Hosea 14:5; it Psalms 72:6. He is the living water,” the bread of God… Which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” John 6:33.

Now in the Maecenas give of his son, God has in store call the whole world with an atmosphere of grace as real as the air which circulates around the globe. All who choose to breathe this life given atmosphere will live and grow up to the stature of men and women in Christ Jesus.

As the flower turns to the sun, that the bright beams of may aid in perfecting its beauty and symmetry, so should we turn to the Sun of righteousness, that heavens light may shine upon us, that our character may be developed into the likeness of Christ.

Jesus teaches the same thing when he says, “abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine; no more can ye, except he abide in me… Without me you can do nothing.” John 15:4, 5.

They have trusted in Christ’s for the forgiveness of sin, but now they seek by their own efforts to live aright. It is Christ’s first, last, and always. He is to be with us, not only at the beginning and the end of our course, but at every step of the way.” I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalms 16:8.

Do you ask,” how is I to abide in Christ?” In the same way as you received him at first.” As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in him.”  ” The just shall live by faith.” Colossians 2:6; Hebrews 10:38. You gave yourself to God, to be his holy, to serve and obey him, and you took Christ as your Savior. You could not yourself atone for your sins are changing your heart; but having given yourself to God, you believe that He for Christ sake did all this for you.

By faith, you became Christ’s, and by faith, you are to grow up in him, by giving and taking. You are to give all, your heart, you will, your service, give yourself to him to obey all his requirements; and you must take all, Christ, the fullness of all blessings, to abide in your heart, to be your strength, your righteousness, your everlasting helper, to give you power to obey.

NOW IS THE TIME TO REACH OUT AND EMBRACE THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES

 Light seeds are planted in the souls of Gods people; Joy-seeds are planted in good heart soil (Psalm: 97:10).

Often people voice the idea or thought that the world has changed so much. Has the world really changed or have we changed the world we live in?  Environmental changes, chaos, anger, hatred the list seems endless, so far from the original plan of God.

God planned the world and set it on its foundation; everything was in order, not a speck out of place. Take a moment and look around, focus your thoughts on the many events you’ve witnessed in a life time and see how human-kind has gradually contributed to the destruction of what surrounds us at any given moment.  Are we thankful for what God has provided for our enjoyment or have we carelessly and aimlessly, taken it all for-granted without considering the consequence of our behavior?

As we are given the opportunity to EMBRACE THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS, how can we but be thankful to share in what God has given for our enjoyment? We pollute the air, throw trash along roadways, empty garbage into our water-ways and yet we wonder and complain about the effects of global warming. You know, that is not the way it has always been. All we have to do is to stop for a moment, pick up the Word of God, read “The Beginning” and evaluate where we are today.  What is happening around us we consider advancement; yet, that does not alter the fact that what we are privileged to enjoy is not a blessing to be cherished.

Where did it all start, when did it all start? Is what we are experiencing today a result of disobedience, unthank fullness or simply a lack of knowledge. Imagine a time when the whole earth was watered by underground springs or when God placed man in charge of all he had created, a relationship built on love and trust. Now that we see so many of our natural resources disappearing before our eyes, what are we willing to give or do to make it right?

If we should continue along at the present rate will life as it was designed ever return to a point where the air we breathe no longer pollute our lungs, the water we drink is no longer a threat to our health, the food we eat is no longer poison our systems, or will love ever find the way back into our hearts that seem to have grown cold and distant among many?

Scripture reminds us that there is hope for a better day, a brighter tomorrow, but there is work we must do, we must be about our Fathers’ business making every effort to correct what is wrong. Jesus came, taught and left directions for us, how to live godly lives by being thankful in all things. Although this world is not our home, it is what we have been blessed with to inhabit until God’s kingdom is fully restored. So, let’s be caretakers by sharing in the responsibility of keeping it all together according to the plan of God. He does not require that we seek our own way; remember, that he is the head as we look to him for guidance.

Take a look around, the world has not changed, we have changed the environment blessed to us from the very beginning of time. What are we willing to do to make it right?

This video clip captures the beauty and essence of God’s glory and what He has provided to us for our enjoyment.  We are the stewards over Mother Earth.  Our task is preserve her for future generations.  I pray that this lesson and the video has been a blessing to your soul.  May God bless each one of you and the work you are doing to help make this world a better place for all of us to live, work and enjoy.  In Jesus name, Amen!

PORTRAIT OF A FATHER

PORTRAIT OF A FATHER

Pastor Davis with Father Deacon Davis Byars Sr. Age 95 and still going strong

BY  SISTER SHIRLEY RHODES

The PORTRAIT OF A FATHER is one of a special gift, because God has chosen them and placed them in charge of the family as a nurturer and provider.  FATHERS’ are seen as the strong tower, the leader and diligently goes about seeking how to provide the many necessities essential to the family’s growth. Throughout time FATHERS’ have always sheltered their inner emotions simply because that is how society dictates. Life now paints a different picture for today’s FATHER.

When we think of a FATHER we think of the beginning (the creation) and know that he was created for a purpose and that purpose was for God’s enjoyment. God formed Man out of the dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man became a living soul! Genesis 2:7. God made a covenant with Abraham when he was ninety-nine years old, he said, “This is my covenant with you: You’ll be the FATHER of many nations, I’ll make nations from you, a covenant that includes your descendants, a covenant that goes on and on and on, a covenant that commits me to be your God and the God of your descendants. (Genesis 17:3-8 Mgs)

Today’s FATHER displays a sense of humor and honesty. They are diligently seeking how to be better at their assignment as a Father.  As fathers’ they should strive to build and maintain strong bonds with those entrusted to their care. THE PORTRAIT OF A FATHER should be seen as one of showing honor, humor, honesty, caring, courage, character, grace, guidance while setting boundaries for appropriate behavior within the family. He should be one whom children look-up to as a role model as he follow the rule to love every-one.  Now let us watch together this short video clip of Pastor Davis, Portrait of a Father:

The Bible tells us that, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.  Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24 KJV).  Therefore, let us understand that a FATHER can and will make mistakes as he seeks to lead his family in the path that God has set out for him to do so.

Now listen to the words of Thomas More, he says, “Family life is full of major and minor crises—the ups and downs of health, success and failure—and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It’s difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul.”

The PORTRAIT OF A FATHER is one that none of us should take lightly.  Let us lift up our eyes towards heaven and thank God, our HEAVENLY FATHER who has given us this opportunity to be a part of this earthly celebration this weekend to salute and honor all FATHERS who have stood the test of time and given of themselves to be FATHERS in spite of the many trials and tribulations they have had to endure.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL FATHERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND MAY THE PEACE, LOVE AND JOY OF GOD OUR FATHER FILL YOUR HEARTS WITH MUCH JOY AND PEACE ON THIS SPECIAL FATHER’S DAY!

BE ENCOURAGED IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

BE ENCOURAGED IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES

THE STORM IS RAGING (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

THE STORM IS RAGING (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

Be encouraged in the eye of the storm because it is in such times as these that we learn to depend on our Creator who supplies all of our needs; strength, endurance, patience and the ability to remain focused on what lies ahead. Know this: GOD is God, and God, GOD; he made us, we didn’t make him, we are his people (Psalm 100:3 MGS); he loves us and has promised to never leave us without hope.

If you’ve never had an experience in life that changed you forever you may not comprehend the true meaning of “Be Encouraged in the Eye of the Strom.” On the other-hand if you have experienced events that changed your life as you knew it you understand the meaning of these words because you have survived, yet you know your life will never be the same.

Recent events of evil that have penetrated many lives have left some with scars and little hope. We offer words of encouragement to those who are feeling lost and confused, never lose hope, stay faithful and God will see you through, be encouraged in the eye of the storm.

Scripture reminds us of how Jesus is always in the midst of our troubles. Remember when Jesus and his disciples were in the boat and the next thing they knew, they were in a severe storm; waves crashing into the boat, tossed about and afraid while Jesus slept. When they realized Jesus was asleep they became even more frightened, that moment their faith was being tested. Immediately Jesus spoke, he told to wind to be silent, the sea to quiet down; complete Silence and the sea became as smooth as glass (Matthew 8:23-26). Be encouraged in the eye of the storm.

Even through the many storms of life, God has not changed his mind, his love is everlasting, trust him with all your heart—be encouraged in the eye of the storm because this too shall pass and will someday become a distant memory. Through the experience you will gain strength to endure and move forward with purpose into your destiny. Know that you are truly blessed when tears flow freely because joy comes in the morning. Be encouraged; be encouraged in the eye of the storm that’s passing over, may your hearts find peace and happiness.

WE SHOULD CONSIDER OURSELVES BLESSED

WE SHOULD CONSIDER OURSELVES BLESSED

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES

Today, as we begin studying this lesson, pause your thoughts for a moment and think deeply on how blessed you are to be right where you are at this very moment in time.  Now understand that all of our Blessings are a gift from God, learning to recognize the vastness of his love and generosity enables us to find pleasure in praise and thanksgiving as we show gratitude and appreciation; each hurdle triumphed, is reason enough to be thankful, in so doing we should consider ourselves blessed.   Jesus taught many principle’s about blessings and by following that pattern we are able to grasp the light that leads us from moments of darkness we sometimes face, to the brightness of his glory.

THE LIGHT THAT LEADS US FROM DARKNESS TO THE BRIGHTNESS OF GOD'S GLORY (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

THE LIGHT THAT LEADS US FROM DARKNESS TO THE BRIGHTNESS OF GOD’S GLORY (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

Jesus says, “You’re blessed when you’ve lost it all, God’s kingdom is there for the finding. You’re blessed when tears flow freely, joy comes in the morning. Every time someone cuts you down, smears and blackens your name,” count it all joy, others sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ have been treated with acts of hate due to their own ignorance or lack of will to understand the pattern, its true meaning. Those who are able to grasp the richness of it all, I can truly say, we should consider ourselves blessed.

Following the pattern is not without sacrifice in this earthly journey, trouble is all around and where-ever we find ourselves,  we must  remember to stay focused, keep your eyes on the prize, because we’re in a race for our very souls. If you are satisfied with yourself, trouble is ahead; your “self” will not satisfy you for long. Living for the approval of others, doing what indulges them is as if you’re in a contest to win favor, remember our task is to be true, not popular. We should consider ourselves blessed once we’ve been chosen to share in the “promise” which is available to all who are hungry, seeking truth and righteousness.

Sometimes we may find ourselves drifting away like the wind, avoiding our true selves while the gentle voice of Jesus whispers come on back home, surrender, give up the fight, lift your eyes toward the heavens my child, you are the love of my life, then we should consider ourselves blessed.

 Stir up the fallow ground (cultivate the soil), and let go of the “old order”, disobedience, mistrust, spiritual disorder-malice, envy, hurtful talk/attitude. Seize the “new order”, rebuild, renew, and respond to the offer of “Love Unconditionally.”  As you realize that our Blessings are a Gift from God, and they encourages each of us to allow the Holy Spirit to be our guide; we become alert, alive, listening, agreeable, lovable  and humble and filled with compassion. We Are Surrounded by the Presence of God!  At this very moment, we should be able to lift up Holy Hands, praise God, thank God and shout glory hallelujah!

When your faith kicks in and your mind has conceived these thoughts, then you will understand just how blessed you really are at this very moment.  You come into the full knowledge and understanding, that it was nothing but God’s grace and mercy that has allowed you to be in this exact place at this very moment.

Now listen up, to God’s anointing over your life, He says to you, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the lawof the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.” (Psalm 1:1-4 ESV)

GROWING UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST

GROWING UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST

We were created in the image of God and given His Character that we may grow up in His grace.  We can do nothing of our own.  Our growth is totally depended upon the actions of God.  Everything in the Universe was created by God and for God that it may grow and flourish in the manner God has chosen it to be.  Therefore, as a newborn creature in this life, our mission is to grow up in the grace of Jesus Christ.

GROWING UP IN GODS GRACE (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

CHILDREN GROWING UP IN THE GRACE OF JESUS CHRIST  (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

THE ROSE OF SHARON (Photo by Pastor Davis)

As the flower turns to the sun, that the bright beams of day aid in perfecting its beauty and symmetry, so should we turn to the Sun of righteousness, that heavens light may shine upon us, that our character may be developed into the likeness of Christ.

TODAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED

TODAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED

The Beautiful Trees of Nature (Photo by Pastor Davis)

Truly I say to you this day, in all that you do, lift up your eyes towards heaven and learn to thank God, honor God and to praise God daily, and watch Him fill you with knowledge and power, as He lifts you out of darkness and into His Marvelous light with the understanding that, “TODAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED,” and you will begin to experience his blessing and His anointing favor over your entire life.

Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Psalms 150 ESV)

How is this possible, because the Bible speaks clearly and says this, “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments?  His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.  Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever.

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever his horn is exalted in honor. The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! (Psalms 112 ESV)

Yes my friends, when you awaken this morning, you were truly blessed and highly favored.  For God allowed you to open your eyes and absolve all the beauty and grace that your mind could comprehend.  Nothing was off limits to you.  Whatever choice you made this day was yours and yours alone. For the Bible clearly tells us, “choose this day who you will serve.” But for me and my family, I choose to serve and follow Jesus.

You must taste the happiness, and know by personal experience the blessedness of having Jesus in your heart.  Then His Spirit of holiness and humility, of love and self-sacrifice, and of courage and power will become as natural as your own spirit.

Your life this day is a blessing to God, to your family, to your friends, to your community, to your church and all those that God has placed in your pathway.  You are the head and not the tail, your life is flowing like a mighty river as its waters flow towards the sea, you are blossoming and becoming more beautiful, loving and kind heart, like the most beautiful roses that blossoms and spreads its beauty and aromas for the world to partake off.  Your family, friends and co-workers see you in a brand new light. You have tasted the spirit of freedom, and the Holy Spirit is now dwelling and stirring deep within your soul. Your true nature and limitless spirit now sours high above the clouds like a giant eagle when he has mastered the freedom of flight.  Now you know without a shadow of doubt that it was no one but God that shook you, awaken you, opened your eyes, lifted you out of that bed, and spoke these words to you in a crystal clear voice as He said, TODAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED!”

You comfort your children in their sorrow

Psalm 103:17

Amplified Bible(AMP)

17But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him and His righteousness is to children’s children

Isaiah 40:1, 8

1COMFORT, COMFORT My people, says your God.

The [a]grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Isaiah 41:10, 15, 16

Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.

15Behold, I will make you to be a new, sharp, threshing instrument which has teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, and shall make the hills like chaff.

16You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest or whirlwind shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the Lord, you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 53:4, 5

4Surely He has borne our grief’s (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].

5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

2 Samuel 22:5-7

YOU FEEL DEFEATED AND POWERLESS

Psalm 46:1-3

Amplified Bible (AMP)

1GOD IS our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

2Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken into the midst of the seas,

3Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling and tumult. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Job 5:6-9

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6For affliction comes not forth from the dust, neither does trouble spring forth out of the ground.

7But man is born to trouble as the sparks and the flames fly upward.

8As for me, I would seek God and inquire of and require Him, and to God would I commit my cause–

9Who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number.

Psalm 5:1-8, 11, 12

Amplified Bible (AMP)

1LISTEN TO my words, O Lord, give heed to my sighing and groaning.

2Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray.

3In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].

4For You are not a God Who takes pleasure in wickedness; neither will the evil [man] so much as dwell [temporarily] with You.

5Boasters can have no standing in Your sight; You abhor all evildoers.

6You will destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors [and rejects] the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

7But as for me, I will enter Your house through the abundance of Your steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You.

8Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.

11But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.

12For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

Amplified Bible (AMP)

8Three times I called upon the Lord and besought [Him] about this and begged that it might depart from me;

9But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may [b]pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!

10So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [[c]in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful [d]in divine strength).

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LEADERSHIP AND GROWTH OF GODLY FAMILIES (PART 1)

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LEADERSHIP AND GROWTH OF GODLY FAMILIES (PART 1)

WHY IS THERE AN INTEGRITY AND VALUE CRISIS IN OUR LEADERSHIP?

Davis Byars Sr. A real family leader (Photo by Pastor Davis) This is my Dad, he is 95 years old and he has always been a true leader of our family. With a sound mind and good physical health, he is still the leader of our family.

Why is there so much turmoil at the top of our families, our churches, and our government? It appears that we have lost our moral compasses. We no longer live by the values that Jesus taught us. Fathers, who are the head of our families, are failing at an alarming rate. The church leadership is leading God’s people astray. In addition, we have our government leaders that are in total flux, they do not know which way is up or which way is down.  It is almost like the blind leading the blind, and we all are going round and round.  Where will it all ends?

Jesus warned us against doing the right things for the wrong reasons, things such as trying to develop integrity only because it would advance our career or help us to close a deal. Jesus called people who practiced this kind of morality “hypocrites.” Notice that he used this word three times in (Matthew 6:2,5,16 verses). Three times people are cited for violating their integrity by doing something only for the appearance. How excited would you be about doing business with people like this? In today’s marketplace, it appears that some of our leaders believe, that when no one is looking, they can do anything they choose to do, and get away with it.  What they failed to understand, is that God sees all, and know all things. Our God is a God who sits high and looks low. Anything that a person may do in the dark will come into the light eventually.

Therefore, the essence of hypocrisy (lack of integrity) is public-dependent behavior.  It is acting one-way while people are watching and another when alone. Typically this is not the kind of person most parents would want their daughter to marry; nor is this the kind of leader who inspires dedicated followers.

Jesus key to integrity is that his followers will live their lives by the standard of their unchanging, present heavenly father. Resist the temptation to dance to every vendor’s tune; instead, march to the steady beat set by our Almighty God.

Integrity involves living by one standard and for the approval of one judge. People come and go, and their standards are fickle. Trying to please all of them will at best drive you nuts and at worst turn you into a hypocrite. Nevertheless, God is unchanging and always present. Living for Him is foundational to integrity, and it reaps an eternal reward.

In order for today’s leaders to begin to lead in the right direction, they must go back to the core principles of Jesus teaching on integrity, and values. Now allow me the opportunity to define for our leaders, the first step of what their core values should be.  Until they understand, what it means to be equipped with core values, such as trying to steer their ship with no rudders. Vision, mission, strategy and outcomes are difficult, if not impossible, until values are clear. Jesus knew that; and in the process of developing His team off disciples, he forced them to confront this foundational issue.

Jesus urged his disciples to focus their values on things that would bear and eternal return. However, how, by making a living on Earth, while responsibly leading an enterprise on earth, while providing jobs, products, service and profit on Earth; do we build treasures in heaven? Whose nod of approval matters most? Who defines what really matters?

Jesus told his disciples that the core value, the driving value, that eternal value is this: “does what I am doing please God?”Every other value is second to that one. When that value is in place all other values line up.

Values are uncompromisable, undebatable truths that drive and direct behavior. Those are motivational, they give us reasons why we do things; and they are restrictive, they placed boundaries around behavior. Leadership literature is paying increased attention to the importance of consistent values to a leader’s effectiveness over the long haul.

King David demonstrated value driven behavior in Psalms 15. Notice that he said the person who enjoys the presence of God and lives a blameless life is the one who “speaks the truth from his heart.” Because this person’s values truth and his heart, his words express truth. Because he values kindness, he does his neighbor no wrong. Because he values honesty, he keeps his oath even when it hurts. Because he values justice, he does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Leaders who are value driven reap a great benefit from the Lord. David said, “They would never be shaken.” Regardless of what may happen around them, they can live with confidence that the right principles have shaped their values and have guided their decisions. That confidence will give them emotional and spiritual stability. It will enable them to be leaders whom God can use for his glory.

As you reflect on the Psalms, considering what values drove the psalmist behavior. As you examine your own life, what values do you see as driving your behavior? What values would you like to have drive your behavior? Make it your goal; to more completely integrate God’s values into your professional and personal life.

ARISE SHINE AND SING PRAISE TO THE LORD

ARISE SHINE AND SING PRAISE TO THE LORD

THE RISING OF THE SUN (Photo by Pastor Davis)

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you.
And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising. (Isaiah 60:1-3 ESV)

 Sing to the Lord a new song,
his praise from the end of the earth,
you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it,
the coastlands and their inhabitants.
Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice,
the villages that Kedar inhabits;
let the habitants of Sela sing for joy,
let them shout from the top of the mountains.
Let them give glory to the Lord,
and declare his praise in the coastlands. (Isaiah 42:10-12)

LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!

 Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!  (Psalm 150 ESV)

Today we sing Praises to our God, because He is Truly and Awesome God.  Will you all join with me this  morning and lift him up in all that you do, and sing Praises unto our God, because He is worthy, He is worthy, I tell you He is worthy to be Praised. Now come on join with me and lift up your Holy Hands, open your mouth and just begin to say the words, “Our God is an Awesome God!”

PORTRAIT OF A FATHER

PORTRAIT OF A FATHER

Pastor Davis with Father Deacon Davis Byars Sr. Age 95 and still going strong

BY MINISTER SHIRLEY RHODES

As Fathers’ day approaches let’s set aside any differences we may have and express love and gratitude for all fathers, a role not to be taken lightly and as you do so, remember these very important words:  “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.  (Isaiah 58:11-12ESV).

Oh! Teach us to live well! Let your servants see what you’re best at—the ways you rule your children. And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work we do. (Psalm 90:12-17).

TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO PRAISE GOD!

God's Marvelous Light (by Pastor Davis)

TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO PRAISE GOD!

In the context of the above statement, there are some of you who might have the odyssey to ask the question, why?  Then I will respond in kind with these words, because your life today is a blessing to be cherished, although you might not see it this way.  However, just being alive is a humbling experience that most of us take for granted.  Nothing in this life is guaranteed, even our awaken this day.  Therefore, if we learn to look on our lives as a blessing and the opportunity to praise God for all he has done for us, then we should be able to shout Hallelujah, God is good, and I am going to praise him no matter how difficult things may seem at this moment in my life.  No one are no circumstances are beyond my ability to give God all my praises, for he has truly been good to me.

Now listen to how the Bible teaches us how we should praise God.  It says,“ Hallelujah! You, who serve God, praise God! Just to speak his name is praise! Just to remember God is a blessing— now and tomorrow and always.  From east to west, from dawn to dusk, keep lifting all your praises to God!

God is higher than anything and anyone, outshining everything you can see in the skies. Who can compare with God, our God, so majestically enthroned, Surveying his magnificent heavens and earth?  He picks up the poor from out of the dirt, rescues the wretched who’ve been thrown out with the trash, Seats them among the honored guests, a place of honor among the brightest and best.  He gives childless couples a family, gives them joy as the parents of childrenHallelujah(Psalm 113:1-9 MSG).

Hallelujah! Praise God in his holy house of worshippraise him under the open skies;
Praise him for his acts of powerpraise him for his magnificent greatness; Praise with a blast on the trumpetpraise by strumming soft stringsPraise him with castanets and dancepraise him with banjo and flutePraise him with cymbals and a big bass drumpraise him with fiddles and mandolin. Let every living, breathing creature praise GodHallelujah(Psalm 150 MSG).

Now if you are one of those people who are wondering why your life and the life of your family is in such poor condition, think on this message of praise, and if you are not giving God all your praises day by day then the answer should be quite simple, and the solution to being able to get God to bless your life and lift you up out of poverty is to begin praising God for whatsoever condition you might find yourself in.  Just open your mouth and praise him even if you are facing eviction from your home are apartment, no food to eat, no job to go to, your marriage are relationship has fallen apart, you have been stricken with a crippling decease, you ought to look towards heaven and say, thank you Jesus for this opportunity to praise you, because I know that the conditions that I find myself in today, shall be no more.  Thank you for allowing me to experience your marvelous light of this day.  From this moment forward, I am going to praise you, HALLELUJAH!

Today, heavenly father, I lift you up with my praises for allowing me to speak truth to power in presenting this message to your people. My brothers and sisters, I minister to you from a position of peace, power, purpose and prosperity.  I reamin your brother in CHRIST, PASTOR DAVIS/MASTER TEACHER!

WE ARE CALLED TO BE RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OVER MOTHER EARTH

WE ARE CALLED TO BE RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OVER MOTHER EARTH

The poets of the Old Testament loved to describe the natural world.  Like all people in that ancient time, they lived closer to nature than do most of us.  They enjoyed nature’s beautiful and fascinating manifestations.  They observed the ways of birds and badgers, the flowing rivers, and the pulsing of the waves.  In this respect, the biblical poets have much in common with many other poets throughout history.

Nevertheless, in two important ways the biblical poets were different from their neighbors in the ancient Middle East.  First, they resisted the temptation to deify nature.  Their neighbors did not merely rhapsodize about birds and trees, hills and seas they worshiped them.  The biblical poets learned to do something truly new.  Namely, they loved nature but did not bow to it.  They enjoyed nature but did not worship it.

The second distinctive of the biblical poets was their identification of “nature.”  For them, nature was always “creation.”  The word nature does not itself deify the world, but it still implies that the world has its own sense of being, its own power, and its own dynamic.  On the other hand, the word creation is a term of faith.  It expresses the belief that everything that exists is made by God.  All the beauty and splendor of the universe comes from God’s creative hands.

In some ways, the modern emphasis on “Mother Earth” is simply a revival of the goddess cults of the ancient Middle East.  However, the authors of the creation psalms have the right perspective.  We can express our enjoyment of creation without worshiping it.  We can love the earth because we first love its Creator.  We can rejoice in the marvels of nature, the sparkling waterfall and the soaring eagle, because we know they are the handiwork of God.  Any efforts to “save” the earth should arise from our worship of its Creator and our knowledge that we are called to responsible stewardship because everything God created is a gift from Him.

AN AWESOME INSPIRED MEDITATION ON THE WONDERS OF GOD’S WORLD

O my soul, bless God! God, my God, how great you are!
beautifully, gloriously robed,
Dressed up in sunshine,
and all heaven stretched out for your tent.
You built your palace on the ocean deeps,
made a chariot out of clouds and took off on wind-wings.
You commandeered winds as messengers,
appointed fire and flame as ambassadors.
You set earth on a firm foundation
so that nothing can shake it, ever.
You blanketed earth with ocean,
covered the mountains with deep waters;
Then you roared and the water ran away—
your thunder crash put it to flight.
Mountains pushed up, valleys spread out
in the places you assigned them.
You set boundaries between earth and sea;
never again will earth be flooded.
You started the springs and rivers,
sent them flowing among the hills.
All the wild animals now drink their fill,
wild donkeys quench their thirst.
Along the riverbanks the birds build nests,
ravens make their voices heard.
You water the mountains from your heavenly cisterns;
earth is supplied with plenty of water.
You make grass grow for the livestock,
hay for the animals that plow the ground.

 Oh yes, God brings grain from the land,
wine to make people happy,
Their faces glowing with health,
a people well-fed and hearty.
God’s trees are well-watered—
the Lebanon cedars he planted.
Birds build their nests in those trees;
look—the stork at home in the treetop.
Mountain goats climb about the cliffs;
badgers burrow among the rocks.
The moon keeps track of the seasons,
the sun is in charge of each day.
When it’s dark and night takes over,
all the forest creatures come out.
The young lions roar for their prey,
clamoring to God for their supper.
When the sun comes up, they vanish,
lazily stretched out in their dens.
Meanwhile, men and women go out to work,
busy at their jobs until evening.

What a wildly wonderful world, God!
You made it all, with Wisdom at your side,
made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.
Oh, look—the deep, wide sea,
brimming with fish past counting,
sardines and sharks and salmon.
Ships plow those waters,
and Leviathan, your pet dragon, romps in them.
All the creatures look expectantly to you
to give them their meals on time.
You come, and they gather around;
you open your hand and they eat from it.
If you turned your back,
they’d die in a minute—
Take back your Spirit and they die,
revert to original mud;
Send out your Spirit and they spring to life—
the whole countryside in bloom and blossom.

The glory of God—let it last forever!
Let God enjoy his creation!
He takes one look at earth and triggers an earthquake,
points a finger at the mountains, and volcanoes erupt.

Oh, let me sing to God all my life long,
sing hymns to my God as long as I live!
Oh, let my song please him;
I’m so pleased to be singing to God.
But clear the ground of sinners—
no more godless men and women!

O my soul, bless God
