A WORD OF ADVICE FROM FATHER TO SON BE WISE AS A SERPENT

A WORD OF ADVICE FROM FATHER TO SON BE WISE AS A SERPENT

Oh listen, dear child—become wise; point your life in the right direction. Don’t drink too much wine and get drunk; don’t eat too much food and get fat. Drunks and gluttons will end up on skid row, in a stupor and dressed in rags.

PASTOR DAVIS ADVISES HIS SON MAXIMILLION TO BE WISE AS A SERPENT

PASTOR DAVIS ADVICES HIS SON MAXIMILLION TO BE WISE AS A SERPENT

BUY WISDOM, EDUCATION, AND INSIGHT

Listen with respect to the father who raised you, and when your mother grows old, don’t neglect her. Buy truth—don’t sell it for love or money; buy wisdom, buy education, buy insight.
Parents rejoice when their children turn out well; wise children become proud parents.
So make your father happy!  Make your mother proud!

Dear child, I want your full attention; please do what I show you. A whore is a bottomless pit; a loose woman can get you in deep trouble fast. She’ll take you for all you’ve got; she’s worse than a pack of thieves.

Who are the people who are always crying the blues? Who do you know who reeks of self-pity?
Who keeps getting beat up for no reason at all? Whose eyes are bleary and bloodshot? It’s those who spend the night with a bottle, for whom drinking is serious business. Don’t judge wine by its label, or its bouquet, or its full-bodied flavor. Judge it rather by the hangover it leaves you with—the splitting headache, the queasy stomach. Do you really prefer seeing double, with your speech all slurred, Reeling and seasick, drunk as a sailor? “They hit me,” you’ll say, “but it didn’t hurt; they beat on me, but I didn’t feel a thing. When I’m sober enough to manage it, bring me another drink!” Proverb 23:19-35 MSG

THE SECRET TO RELEASING AND LETTING GO

THE SECRET TO RELEASING AND LETTING GO

When you love something you must release it, [set it free] if it returns back to you it was meant for you, if it does not return it was not meant for you in the first place.

THOUGHTS ON LIVING IN DIVINE ORDER WHEN YOU RELEASE AND LET GO...

THOUGHTS ON LIVING IN DIVINE ORDER WHEN YOU RELEASE AND LET GO…

Release is an aspect of circulation. Release things or people that you no longer need or desire in your life. When you give material things away that you no longer use or want, you make room for what you want to come into your life. Sell or give those things away to people who find better value in them. Release friends and people who no longer serve in your best interest because of their limited mindset or negativity, to make room for new and better ones that do. When you release or leave the lesser, you’ll find that the better thing or person you’ve been waiting for will be able to show up.

Let go of negative emotions due to loss so that you can allow positive restoration to enter. When you hold a grudge, essentially you are denying your connection to creation. You somehow think that you can be made a lesser person, or that your wealth can be taken away, or even that someone can do irreparable harm to you. All those things are impossible. You have as part of your basic nature all you need to be whole. You have that because you are made of the substance that makes everything.

If someone steals from you, or if your property is damaged, you can easily replenish it, provided you are in the flow. If someone hurts your body, miracles can heal it, provided you are in the flow. If someone belittles you, the knowledge of who you are and what your potential is, casts off the remarks like water on a duck’s back, provided you are in the flow.

Unresolved grudges deny who you are. They seem to give truth to your limitations and vulnerability. Then by your invitation, the flow appears to be cut off. Since the flow can’t actually stop, what is happening? Well, the flow is simply creating what you’re expecting. When you think you can be irreparably injured, that is what manifests. When you think someone can take away your abundance, or a part of it, that is what manifests.

Let go of disappointments and failures because they are just part of the journey to achieving success. You are not remembered by the number of failures you make, but by the number of successes you make. People, who have achieved immense success in life, always encounter lots of failures and made lots of mistakes along the way. They still make mistakes as they achieve further success, but they are willing to let go of it all because they know the secret is to keep moving and not be stuck.

Have the attitude of detachment and testing, and having another action to take. Having something else better to be occupied with if you can’t do what you want at the moment. Have the mindset of taking action and seeing if it succeeds, but still persisting as far as you can go anyway. Be persistent yet able to detach. Have the power to hold on to and let go when you want to, and as you wish. Decide and act only according to your wisdom and not anyone’s idea of what you should or should not do.

Your desires can manifest faster when you are detached because of two reasons. The first is that you do not give off negative vibrations with feelings of worry, fear, anxiety, disappointment and regret, because you are able to let go of all negative experiences and keep going on with the fulfillment of your intention in mind. The second is that you keep yourself open to a range of other possibilities and pathways by which your desires can manifest.

Always allow the possibility that you are guided towards something better. Remember that the universe is not limited. If you miss one opportunity to manifest your intention, another one will open up. Another and another. The string of opportunity never runs out. You are able to notice and take the next one if you will let go of the previous one and be free to observe. The universe brings forth everything you desire and nothing is being withheld from you.

Abundance is a flow. You will always have abundance if you are able to let go and remain in flow. When something is taken away, something else will replace it. Otherwise what was taken from you will come back to you with even more than before. Knowing that this is how the universe and God works, you can be free from fear and worry about losing anything. Let go and you can remain happy, and what you want will flow to you. Before leaving click on this short video clip and watch what it takes to overcome your fears.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR HEALTH AND HEALING

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR HEALTH AND HEALING

JESUS PRAYS FOR OUR HEALTH (PHOTO BY PASTOR DAVIS)

Heavenly Father, we as your children enter into your present this day, seeking your blessings over our weakening and decaying physical bodies.  In the past few years Heavenly Father, we have allowed Satan to enter into our minds and turn our thoughts away from you and our natural state of wellness, which you created in us from the beginning of time.  We along with our children have begun to eat unhealthy, live our lives in an unhealthy manner, and practice unhealthy habits; as consequences the cells in our bodies have begun to break down.  Now our physical bodies are fill with stress, worries and anxieties and this is causing us to suffer with cancers, diabetes, high blood pressures and the list of illness just go on and on.  We realize Heavenly Father that this is not the manner in which you meant for us to age day to day.  We came into the knowledge that Jesus taught us more about health and healing than anything else while He was on earth with us.  Now Father, we have allowed Satan to enter into our minds and still our joy, our peace, our understanding of how we are to live our lives in wellness and prosperity. Heavenly Father, recreate in our minds a new Spirit of Health and Healing.  Help us to turn away from the unhealthy life style that has encroached upon us and caused us to fail and become an obese people lacking with enough energy to get up from our position of weakness and begin the process of training our bodies, and minds for the long run of aging gracefully.  You told us in your word, that we have not, because we ask not.  Today Heavenly Father, we are asking in the name of Jesus, for strength in overcoming our weakness, self-control in our ability to not sub-come to the evil spirits and temptations of the devil to control our thoughts, calmness in our minds not to become over anxious of where we are in our present health condition and where you are going to take us by maintaining our faith and walk with Jesus. We realize Heavenly Father that in order for us to continue our growth process and to live out our natural life on this earth and age gracefully, we must change our old ways of doing things, and begin to study and meditate on the teaching of Health and Healing that your Son Jesus gave to us.  We declare this day Heavenly Father, that we will begin the process of turning our lives and aging conditions around by being obedient to your word, living in complete faith and letting our lives be an example to the world community that by abiding in you and you abiding in us, our lives can and will be lived out in wellness.  In Jesus name, AMEN!

HOW SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND VIOLENCE DESTROY FAMILIES

HOW SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND VIOLENCE DESTROY FAMILIES

Drug Abuser 02

By Shirley Rhodes

Are you or someone you know caught up in the cesspool of substance abuse and violence, be it physical, mental, or social?  The point of interest here is abuse and its’ effects physically, mentally, spiritually and financially. Though substance abuse is not defined by a certain group of people, in some way many lives are destroyed due to lack of knowledge, relationships and awareness. Determining the path that takes one on a journey, they may or may not be able to find their way back is a long and enduring process, just getting the individual to admit they have a problem and eventually deciding to seek help.

Not everyone have access to what they need for recovery and often feel that where they find themselves is their destiny. So, we as a society, family, friend must ask ourselves, how did this happen, what caused our loved one to choose this course in life? It all starts somewhere; there is a reason, a beginning. When we take time and evaluate the situation, the answer may actually be surprising.  Now let us begin by taking a hard look at three key points of interest.

  1. 1.     The beginning: Growth process of children
  2. 2.     Breaking down of the physical body
  3. 3.     Social influence (social status)

We as a community of believers must take an interest in all aspects of the lives of our families if we are to survive as a community.  Yes, that process begins with each one of us, and it begins as a growth process with our children.  The starting point for each of us is entering into the presence of Jesus and we can do this by saying, “God, you’re my refuge, I trust in you and I’m safe!”

That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you—under them you’re perfectly safe, his arms fend off all harm.

The Lion of the tribe of Judah (photo by Pastor Davis)

Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night and flying arrows in the day. Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will ever graze you.  You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, and watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God is your refuge, the High God your very own home. Evil can’t get close to you; harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

“If you will hold on to me for dear life,” says God; I’ll get you out of trouble, I’ll give you the best of care if you only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times. I’ll rescue you, I’ll give you long life, give you a long drink of salvation!” Psalm 91:1-16 (Mgs)

Children of God, the time has come for all of us to wake up and look around, be observant, there is trouble in the land, be attuned to each other.  Know that God has a plan for your life and He is working all things out.  We must come together as a family, as a community of believers and take responsibility for what is happening with our children, and  begin to demonstrate to them that there is a better way of life other than substance abuse and violence which is rampant in our communities;  it all begins with each of us as believers.  We must grow in God’s grace as we demonstrate to others, how they must adapt to the right way of living in this world and that is God’s way.  Our next lesson will continue to build on this one by stressing the GROWTH PROCESS of overcoming SUBSTANCE ABUSE, and VIOLENCE in our lives and the lives of our families.

FEAR-ANGER AND DIVINENESS IS HARMING OUR NATION

Fear, Stress & Anger

Fear, Stress & Anger (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

FEAR-ANGER AND DIVINENESS IS HARMING OUR NATION

WE MUST OVERCOME OUR FEARS IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

This is one of the most fearful times in our nation’s recent history. How we respond to it, both individually and collectively, may determine the outcome of our success as a NATION.

However we view it, we must overcome our fears in order that we achieve the success GOD has already provided for us. He told us that He would never put on us more than we can bear.  God’s word is truth, and we as a NATION must learn to stand on His word.  He further told us that His people will perish from a lack of knowledge.  Knowledge is power, and God will provide us with  all the power we need to overcome our fears.  He assured us that He was the VINE and we are the BRANCHES, and if we abide in Him, He would abide in us and we will bear much fruit.  In other words, we can achieve the SUCCESS as a NATION by abiding in JESUS.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.  (2 Timothy 1:7 AMP)

The coping behaviors we are seeing – avoidance, denial, being reactive, staying busy – are somewhat predictable, as are the feelings produced – anxiety, anger. What are causing such reactions, to a large degree, are unanswered questions such as these: Are we in this together, or is it everyone for themselves? Will we ever find our way out of this, and if so, how long will it take?

Among the unfortunate psychological side effects of a crisis like this is (1). People feeling isolated and believing that they are having to work out their own financial issues on their own, because everyone else is preoccupied; (2) a loss of confidence in our economic and political institutions, and leadership of all kinds, and finally (3). A resulting loss of self-confidence and even depression as people cope with the crisis in different ways.

We can feel powerlessness and hopeless, which produces a cycle of futility that can spiral downward. People bring all of this baggage to work, where it can show up in a lot of ways – cheerful denial, tense conversations, angry conflicts, misperceptions and miscommunication, and even distrust.

However, we do have a choice? The choice is at home or at work and it is very simple: Let the fear control our reactions, or embrace the fear. At a time like this, we could easily go negative or reactive, with predictable results. We could go naively positive and be viewed as out of touch. We could bury our heads in the sands of busyness in the hopes the crisis will go away. But one thing is clear, this is one set of crises from which we can run but definitely not hide.

If we are not going to run and hide but embrace this fear, what do you need to do?

Stay grounded: Find your own ground first, where you are your true, authentic self – what truly matters to you, your core values, your mission in your work. Find a quiet place to reflect on what is true vs. what is perceived. From reflection comes discernment, and with discernment come perspective and a more positive attitude.

Lead with compassion: This is a time to lead from the heart rather than the head. The WORK FORCE needs reassurance, information, perspective and a chance to be heard. Over-communicate. Create opportunities for people to talk about their concerns. The worst thing that can happen is that we act like nothing is going on – and then we get what we get.

Maintain a realistic optimism: Practicing optimism in the face of the daily reports of Armageddon is not exactly easy. But optimism creates its own energy. It’s easier if we’re grounded daily, which gives us perspective. And with a positive attitude, we can avoid overreacting and actually create an environment in which we are looking for creative solutions.

Support each other: It’s about relationships. Everyone at work is going through the same stuff. Most people do not want to feel isolated or alone during times like these. Create opportunities for people to talk about their concerns and how they are problem-solving. In mutual support and communication, the work force will discover a new sense of community.

Go with the energy: What you resist persists. The more we resist engaging our fears, the worse they become. Go with the energy that is generated when people can have an honest conversation about the realities of how this economy is impacting work life. Once the dialogue is opened up, people will move from their concerns to solutions – and support for each other. This is the energy of true collaboration.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said in his inauguration address in 1933 that “we have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” His words were meant to reassure a struggling people at the height of the GREAT DEPRESSION – the most difficult economic times this nation has faced in at least 100 years. It is a time for us to be authentic and truthful about our workplace challenges. It is a time to engage each other. It is a time to move beyond our fears to achieve success – together.

Now let me close with this final thought for each one of you who have taken the time to read this entire lesson and the many lessons we teach here daily, “Think globally, and work locally.  Looking beyond ourselves in the real and on line world, to reach out to others who might be in need, for we all are truly our Brothers Keeper, may the grace of God abide in you now and forever, in JESUS name, AMEN!

LIVING IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY

LIVING IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY

CONTINUED FROM:  “HOW DO WE DETERMINE THE BEGINNING”

Let us not dwell upon the sins and mistakes of yesterday so exclusively as to have no energy and mind left for LIVING RIGHTLY IN THE BEGINNING AND BLESSNESS OF THIS DAY,   and do not think that the sins of yesterday can prevent you from living aright today.  Begin today by getting right with the world, and aided by the accumulated experiences of all your past days, learn to live it better than any of your previous days; but you cannot possibly live it better unless you begin it better.  The character of the whole day depends upon the way it is begun.

Another beginning of great importance is the beginning of any particular and responsible undertaking.  How

Mind creates life

Mind creates life (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

does a man begin the building of a house?  He secures a plan of the proposed edifice, and proceeds to build according to the plan, scrupulously following it in every detail, from the foundation up.  Should he neglect the beginning, the obtaining of an architectural plan, his labor would be wasted, and his building, should it reach completion without tumbling to pieces, would be insecure and worthless.  The same law holds well in any important work: the right beginning and first essential is a definite mental plan on which to build.  Nature will have no slip-shod work, no slovenliness, and she annihilates confusion, or rather, confusion is in itself annihilation.  Order, definiteness, purpose, eternally and universally prevail; and he who in his operations ignores these elements of precision at once deprives himself of substantiality, completeness, and the opportunity for success.

Now let us understand that the most important beginning of all, is upon the affliction or blessedness which it inevitably depends, yet the one most neglected and least understood, is the inception of thought that is in the hidden, but causal, region of the mind.  Your whole life is a series of effects, having their cause in thought, in your own thought.  All conduct is made and molded by thought; all deeds, good or bad, are thoughts made visible.  A seed put into the ground is the beginning of a plant or tree; the seed germinates, the plant or tree comes forth into the light and evolves.  A thought put into the mind is the beginning of a line of conduct: the thought first sends down its roots into the mind, thence to push forth into the light in the form of actions or conduct, which evolves into character and destiny.

Loving, gentle, kind, unselfish, and pure thoughts are right beginnings, leading to blissful results.  This is so simple, so plain, so absolutely true; and yet how neglected, how evaded, and how little understood!

The gardener who most carefully studies how, when, and where to put in his seeds gains the greater horticultural knowledge and obtains the best results; the best crops gladden the soul of him who makes the best beginning.  The man, who most patiently studies how to put into his mind the seeds of strong, wholesome, and charitable thoughts, will obtain the best results in life, and gain the greater knowledge of truth.  The greatest blessedness comes to him who infuses into his mind the purest and noble’s thoughts.

None but right acts can follow right thoughts; none but a right life can follow right acts, and by living a right life all blessedness is achieved.

He who considers the nature and import of his thoughts, who strives daily to eliminate bad thoughts and supplant them with good, comes at last to see that thoughts are the beginnings of results which affect every fiber of his being, which potently influence every event and circumstance of his life.  And when he thus sees, he thinks only right thoughts, chooses to make only those mental beginnings which lead to peace and blessedness.

Wrong thoughts are painful in their inception, painful in their growth, and painful in their fruitage.  Right thoughts are blissful in their inception, blissful in their growth, and blissful in their fruitage.

Many are the right beginnings which a man must discover and adopt on his way to wisdom; but that which is first and last, most important and all-embracing, which is the source and fountain of all abiding happiness, is the right beginning of the mental operations, this implies the steady development of self-control, willpower, steadfastness, strength, purity, gentleness, insight, and comprehension.  It leads to the perfecting of life, for he who thinks perfectly has abolished all unhappiness, his every moment is peaceful, his years are rounded with bliss, he has attained to the complete and perfect blessedness.

CONSEQUENCES OF ABUSE

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES

Marijuana; Cocaine; Methamphetamine, Club drugs, Heroin, Prescription drugs; Alcohol abuse; Bath-salts, inhalants, amphetamine, MADA, Steroids, LSD… and the list seems endless.

Do you ever stop and think, then ask why many people chose the road that leads to chemical dependency/addition? Do you ever stop to consider the history that surrounds them?

Maybe they feel pain that they never learned how to release which blocks the meaning of peace in their lives

Maybe they’ve lost a relationship that they gave love, or never felt loved at all.

Maybe they feel pressured by society, friends or even some family members to conform to the environment that surrounds them.

Marijuana user 01

Maybe there is history of abuse, physical, mental by loved ones or someone they trusted.

Maybe they feed the desire for approval by living unhealthy life-styles which can lead to food addiction or sexual addition, for them this can become a drug as well as alcohol or other types of dependency.

And, just maybe they are crying out for help without judgment and rejection.

Now ask yourself, how well do you really know your children, family members, friends or co-workers; are you the type person willing to seek out those people who may need to hear a kind word or do you decide to pretend it doesn’t exist?

Substance abuse is real and the lists of substances are long and continue to grow with even more deadly drugs being introduced into society. I would like to explore with you some of these drugs one at a time as you share the information with your children, family, friends and community: it all starts with identifying the root of the problem.

MARIJUANA has been around a long time and it is abused, it affects the brain, can have dire consequence,

Marijuana user 02

and is thought to be a link to some mental illness. As THC enters the brain it causes a euphoric (high) feeling by stimulating brain cells to release chemical dopamine. Along with feelings of euphoria they experience relaxation, heightened sensory perception, laughter, altered perception of time, and increased appetite. After euphoria subsides, the user may feel sleepy or depressed, periods of anxiety, fear, distrust or panic. Users who have taken large doses of the drug could possibly experience acute psychosis (delusions/loss of sense of personal identity).

Consequences of abuse summary:

  • Acute (intoxication period): Impairs short-term memory; judgment, attention; co-ordination/balance; increase heart-rate and Psychotic episodes
  • Persistent (lasting longer than  intoxication); impairs memory and learning skills; Sleep impairment
  • Long term (chronic abuse): Can lead to addiction; increased risk of bronchitis; schizophrenia in vulnerable individuals and may increase anxiety, depression and lack of motivation

*Within a few minutes after inhaling marijuana smoke, heart rate increase; bronchial passages relax and become enlarged; blood vessels in the eyes expand, making the eyes look red.

Confrontation, Anger, Bitterness, Resentment, Expectation and Life-stressors are often personality traits of those who choose to use drugs rather than get at the root of the problem where healing can begin.

Marijuana user 03

*The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN), a system monitoring the health impact of drugs, estimated that in 2008, marijuana was a contributing factor in over 374,000 emergency department (ED) visits in the U.S., with about two-thirds of patients being male, and 13 percent between the ages of 12 and 17.

Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life, the person who aligns with me hungers no more and thirst no more, ever.” John 6:35

Our bodies were made for God-given and God-molded love, for “becoming one” with another. Your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit. You can’t live however you please; squandering what God paid such a high price for. The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works, so let people see God in and through your body. 1Corinthians: 6: 19-20 (Mgs.)

HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION (PART 3 of 3)

HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION (PART 3 of 3)

EXPERIENCING THE THINGS THAT WE PRAY FOR

Many of us fail to understand that even though we are eager to experience that for which we pray, even desperate about it, we are not yet receptive to the good or we would have it.  The purpose of meditation is to develop a consciousness of receptivity to the good that God is, and the portion of the divine goodness that we have so far conceived.  The importance of regular, disciplined meditation cannot be overemphasized.

A child who is given the opportunity to take piano lessons finds it difficult to understand the importance of daily practice.  The child in us often has the difficulty in understanding the importance of daily meditation.  Sometimes it is not easy to discern the progress we are making as a result of the daily discipline, and it becomes easy to rationalize the importance of other things that need to be done by us.  In considering meditation, we must realize that our consciousness is not only filled with not knowing from eons of time, but it is constantly being subjected to tremendous pressures of negative thought.

Newspapers are filled with graphic reports of violence on every hand.  Television dramatically and artistically portrays all the fear and hatred to be found on the surface of the consciousness of our civilization.  In order to give that portrayal the greatest amount of viewer appeal, the “reality” of ugliness is portrayed in living (and dying) color.

prayer..

prayer.. (Photo credit: aronki)

The majority of idle conversation seems to be directed to the support and maintenance of negativity. An acquaintance passes you on the street and says: “Good morning! How are you today?”  If you are not a disciplined individual, you may tell him.  In reality, he is not seeking a physiological evaluation or a financial report or a marital-status bulletin; he is simply trying to be courteous and friendly.  We get caught up in this kind of experience and we not only listen to the “organ recital” of our ailing friend, but we find ourselves seeing if we can outdo him in his misfortune. Even though the conscious part of our mind is eager to attain growth and overcoming, there is a part of us that does find satisfaction and fulfillment in the nature or degree of our discomfort.  It is difficult for us to appreciate the subtle power of guilt, frustration, and self-recrimination that may be at the bottom of our suffering.

After all, it must be remembered that the limitations we experience did not come to us by virtue of some power or force outside of ourselves.  We are the artificer of our soul and of our life. We must be alert to the deduction we have made here.  We are stating that the conditions or circumstances out of which we are struggling are of our own making.  This is not an easy thought to embrace.

Therefore, we probably have an elaborate rationalization that lays the blame for what we experience at another’s feet.  It is the fault of our parents, our education or lack of it, the race into which we were born, not having been born with any kind of spoon in our mouth (let alone a silver one), or the government, the system.  Not knowing that we are in a position of dominion and authority, whether we have understood this or not, we have created all sorts of obstacles in the way of productive meditation.

As a result we have not been really receptive to the good for which we have begged and prayed and cried for.  A consciousness of receptivity not only must be developed, it can be developed here and now. Whether or not you feel that you understand how meditation can create a consciousness of receptivity through which your mind energy can mold and fashion a new world for you, set aside time each day, several times a day, and begin the practice of meditation.  You may want to work at it for brief periods of time at first, and then gradually extend the time period until you can experience this time of peace and poise and receptivity for ten or fifteen minutes at a sitting.  Many persons find that it is best to have specific times each day so that a constructive habit can be developed.

Remember, prayer is a conditioned state of readiness, it is an affirmation, and it is receptivity…and you bear responsibility for it, and when you do so, you will, “EXPERIENCING THE THINGS THAT WE PRAY FOR!. It is our prayer that this series title, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION, has been a blessing to your soul, you have conceived it, you believed in it, and now you are really to achieve all your dreams and desired goals.  So remember, whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, it can achieve.  It can and will do this   In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

In meditation we should choose a time and place where we will not have the least likelihood of being disturbed, where there is a minimum of noise or light to distract us, and where we can be as comfortable as possible.  The body can be a great source of distraction if our thought has to keep returning to it to respond to discomfort or pain or stress.  We should develop techniques by which we can put aside our harried thoughts of concern for the conditions in life that are demanding our attention, then we can harness the power in learning, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!”

Through the power of thought, now open an imaginary container on the floor beside you, and place in it each of the pressures, each of the concerns, each of the problems in your life.

Do so with the understanding that when you have finished your time of mediation, you can open the container again and find each of your problems safe and undisturbed.  You can, if you choose to, pick them up again and carry on with your concern about them.  Once you have placed all of your problems in the container on the floor, take another imaginary container and place it on your lap.

Now I encourage you to let this one, (through the power of your creative imagination), be the one in which you keep the precious dreams toward which you are working.  Perhaps in this container you will place the dream of the loving and harmonious relationship that you are working toward with your husband or wife or child, friend or neighbor.

With your imagination, you can hold that dream for a long enough period of time that the infinite Mind of which yours is but an expression can continue to reveal to you the sense of its existence as a reality now.  In understanding this concept the truth is now unfolding in your mind on, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!  We encourage you to meditate deeply on this lesson and we will provide you with the third and final installment in the morning, which will be title, “EXPERIENCING THE THINGS THAT WE PRAY FOR!”  Please return and read all three over and until it becomes as natural to you as walking. We bless this word to you in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION

MEDITATION IS THE RECEIVING PART OF EFFECTUAL PRAYER

Meditation

This entire week has been dedicated to prayer and praiseYou pray for me and I will pray for you has been the thread that ran through our praying for each other.  Today we are going to take you one step further in teaching you “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION in order to obtain your desired result through your prayers.

The very first thing you must know is this, (Meditation is the receiving part of effectual prayer.)  “Now Pause your thoughts for a moment!”  Read this sentence one more time.  The very first thing you must know is this, (Meditation is the receiving part of effectual prayer.)  It must be understood that we are still in prayer, and are not yet concerned with the expression or manifestation of that for which or about which we pray.  When we think back on how God created everything, we come into the knowledge that first there had to be an idea, then the idea  was in the mind, and then its manifestation.  We must through the effective use of meditation get the idea established in our mind, and we must draw to conscious awareness all that is needful in the way of understanding for the eventual expression and manifestation of the good for which we pray.

Most people fail to understand that not only in intentional prayer but all the time, day and night, night and day, we are responsible for the direction of our mind energyMind energy is no less an energy than are muscle power, electrical power, or atomic power.  In reality, it is infinitely more than any of these lesser expressions of energy.  Do you see what we are considering here?  We are suggesting that mind energy, yours or mine, is greater in potential than any energy that we have conceived of or harnessed to date!  You have, right now, access to control of energy more powerful than that released in an atomic explosion!  “Greater than the tread of mighty armies is an idea whose hour has come.”  This is true because an idea comes into expression by virtue of mind energy.  The mind energy that we utilize within the boundaries of our not knowing may seem limited or even paltry, but it is still mind energy that is without limitation.  We use mind energy or better still, we are mind energy, expressing itself as us or through us and our consciousness according to our awareness of it.  Once we tear away the limitations of not knowing, we shall recognize this energy that lies dormant within our thought process.

Meditation is the vehicle by which we come into control of mind energy and direct it toward the accomplishment of the goals that we set for ourselves through the power of affirmation.  Many human beings, because of not knowing, utilize the power of affirmation to make firm in consciousness those very conditions that they abhor; then the tremendous power that is mind energy goes to work to bring into expression and manifestation the substance and life and power of God in the form of that which they fear or hate.  Job recognized the potency of this divine law working to his detriment when he said, “For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.”  If the law works to our detriment (and we can see evidences of it on every hand), it will work for us also in a positive and constructive sense.

As a part of our prayer discipline every day, there should be times set aside during which we meditate.  One of the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of effective meditation is the mistaken assumption that one should stop thinking, or think about nothing, in meditation.  But that is not possible.  The mind is a mass of energy and ideas, and it is its nature to move either in directions given it or down the habitual lines of least resistance.  If it is our habit to fret and worry and stew about the negative and limiting circumstances of our life experience, our thought process will automatically turn in this direction unless it is otherwise directed.  If we have disciplined ourselves, or will discipline ourselves to the conscious of the one Presence and Power that God is in the very midst of us and all around us, in meditative practice the mind will automatically turn towards God.  Then we will be in the flow of knowing, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!”

This concludes part one, in part two we will teach you how to choose a time and place, “HOW TO USE THE CREATIVE POWER OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN MEDITATION!”  This will be continued in this evening’s session. Please return and complete this very important study.  We bless this word to you today in Jesus name, AMEN!

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING OUR CHILDREN FROM DRUG ABUSE

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING OUR CHILDREN FROM DRUG ABUSE

CHILDREN ARE OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE

WRITTEN BY MINISTER SHIRLEY RHODES

No matter how many times we may ask the question are how many different ways we may ask it, “WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING OUR CHILDREN FROM DRUG ABUSE?” The same answer keeps returning back to us.  We as parents are responsible as the front line defense of helping to keep our children off dangerous drugs.  Time and again, kids say their parents are the single most important influence when it comes to drugs.  The message needs to start with you as parents.  Kids need to hear about how risky drug use is.  Research has shown that the earlier parents talk to their kids about drug use, the less likely they will be to use and abuse drugs.   Even if their kids have already tried drugs, informed parents can act to save their kids from drug abuse.

Studies have also shown that the children that are not shown the proper love and care at home from their parents will actual turn to other peer groups even joining gangs. The most important and natural part of growing up is to fit in and belong to a group. It is natural that children want others to like them. Sometimes the group they want to join is using illegal drugs and tobacco and a teen may turn to these illegal drugs just to fit in and belong.

Drug Abuser 04

Teaching kids the danger of alcohol and other drug use is not enough. Children need to learn how to refuse and avoid the use of illicit drugs. Parents have another and very important obligation, and that is, to help kids deal with peer pressure.  This is not an easy task to accomplish but it is not an impossible task.

Whenever you are in doubt of what you need to say or do to help your child, just remember these words: “Keep vigilant watch over your heart, that’s where life starts. Keep your eyes straight ahead; watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust. Proverbs 4:23-27!”

Early adolescence is a time of enormous and often confusing changes for a child, which makes it a challenging time for both your kids and you.  Being tuned in to what it’s like to be a teen can help you stay closer to your child and have more influence on the choices he or she makes — including decisions about using drugs or alcohol.

However, if you are one of those parents that are abusing drugs yourself, you are pouring fuel on a fire that might have already started to burn in your children’s lives.  We point this out because it is the reality of many parents raising children and at the same time they are using and abusing drugs themselves.  This makes you less an authority figure in your children lives and harms your relationship with them and your ability to help keep them away from drugs.

Therefore, we offer up this advice to you as a parent to help you help your children not to begin using drugs and becoming addictive to them.  Because here is how Drug Abuse is seen from a child’s perspective:  Before you decide to take that first drink, smoke that first joint/cigarette, snort your first hit of cocaine or any other substance that poses the chance of addiction, think, it’s not just about you.

Children are sometime victims as well and to help address issues and heal their wounds; let us consider for a moment:

  • Broken promises- do you break your promise of family time together, don’t keep your promise that you will not drink or use drugs on certain days; this can cause the child to grow up thinking they are not loved or important enough to you.
  • A victim of mood changes-always changing rules, loving one moment and abusive the next confuses the child.
  • The child may feel ashamed or embarrassed (especially around friends) because alcohol or drugs may turn a lovely parent into a total embarrassment.
  • May experience tension and fear, because the parent is a substance abuser the child never knows what might happen next, therefore they feel unsafe or live in fear in a place in an environment where they should other-wise feel safe and protected.
  • Guilt may become a pattern for the child because they may feel their parent’s behavior is their fault so they try to adjust to what pleases the parent, not able to recognize that substance abuse or Alcohol abuse is an illness and it’s not their fault.
  • Anger and hurt, children often feel neglected, mistreated, and less important and may grow up with a profound sense of abandonment. As some age they may copy the parents behavior at an early age and begin to experiment with alcohol and/or other drugs
  • Loneliness and isolation, because the family hides and or denies the problem they will not discuss it among themselves which causes the children to think they are the only one with the problem.
  • Lying as a way of life, the need to constantly cover failure of the parent.
  • Feels responsible/obligated, children often feel it is their job to organize and run the home or care for younger siblings; hide the problem from authorities in order to protect the parent.
  • Children are precious resource given to us by God to love and protect; he adore children.

One day children were brought to Jesus in the hope that he would lay hands on them and pray over them. The disciples shooed them off, but Jesus intervened; “Let the children alone, don’t prevent them from coming to me. God’s kingdom is made up of people like these.”  Are you one of these people?

We all are parents to the children of the world.  No child should ever be turned away when they are in need of tender loving care. It is up to each one of us to know the truth, because what you don’t know can put your child at risk.  You may think you already know enough about the drug culture because drugs were around when you were growing up.  You may have even tried marijuana when you were a teen.  Today, kids know more, are exposed to a greater variety of drugs and drug sources, from friends to music and the media.  Drugs are often cheaper and easier to find for kids today.  Educate yourself about the new drug culture and how you can help your children stay drug free and if they are not drug free, help them to get the proper treatment. Now before concluding this message, take a few minutes more and watch this video clip on a few Alcoholic facts.

It has been found that adolescents who enter treatment are more likely to achieve long-term sobriety than those who enter as adults, and the earlier they enter, the more effective the treatment will be. We know that in early adolescent years, youth are courageous and may have high-risk behaviors. They think nothing bad will happen to them. Today, using drugs is a dangerous risk for children. Parents must talk to their children and explain that using alcohol, illegal drugs and tobacco is not an acceptable risk-taking behavior, and the reason why is because, “CHILDREN ARE OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE!”  And as such, we as Parents, “ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING OUR CHILDREN FROM DRUG ABUSE!”

HOW WE CAN HELP TO OVERCOME ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE

WRITTEN BY MINISTER SHIRLEY RHODES

ALCOHOL and DRUG abuse are usually two addictions that come to mind when addictions are discussed. Although we can take normal and healthy parts of life and abuse them as well, such as food, people’  SEXUAL ACTIVITY and our FAITH as means of avoiding or addressing the root cause of the problems, these issues may result in anger, pain and grief if we don’t work through these feelings. This puts us at risk of using SUBSTANCES, activities or people to avoid the real issues, and that is, “HOW WE CAN HELP TO OVERCOME ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE!”

Known as psychoactive substances; ALCOHOL (which is legal), and others which are illegal impact and alter our moods, our emotions, and interfere with our thought process and behavior.

When a person is under influence of any DRUGS, the mood to act may at some point produce negative effects on our children as well as society. Dependency is a matter that few will seek help on their own; without some type intervention may eventually find themselves at the “end of the rope” and do not know where to turn.  Here are some of the facts, click on this video clip and watch:

First and foremost there must be a realization or admission that there is a problem, and the desire for intervention. When we operate in life with clear thoughts or patterns we can easily lose hope, therefore the process begins with retraining how we think and disassociation of source.

Applying biblical principles offer means for strength, encouragement and an environment where you are seen as a person with a weakness and have come to the knowledge that with the positive environment and support systems you can become an over-comer in your life. Off-course the process is usually not one of simplicity but with will and determination all things are possible. We are all created beings in the image of God and he showers us with all of the love and understanding we need once we’re able to think in terms of grace and mercy which no man can give.

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee (Isaiah 26:3-KJV). People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing. (26: 3-4-Mgs)

Guard your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHEN ME (Philippians 4:13). This means that you as a parent now know without a shadow of doubt that,  “SUBSTANCE ABUSE CAN HAVE A GREAT IMPACT ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.”  Your child is seen as a person with a weakness and have come to the knowledge that with the positive environment that you will help to create and the support systems, in which your child can become an over-comer in their life, and once again rise up to the many challenges of living out their individual lives as a fully functioning and productive citizen of the family and community once again.

We encourage all of you who will have the opportunity to read and study this lesson to know that we all are harmed when our love ones become addictive to ALCHOLIC and DRUGS, and it is the responsibility of all to become engaged and be empowered with the truth and knowledge of what it is, how it is harming the individual as well as the family and community at large.  When we do this, we then can begin to have an impact on the devil’s rule over the lives of the abusers and begin to take down his kingdom stone by stone.  God has given us the power over the Devil’s rule; now let us begin to use that power to transform our love one’ back into whole productive citizens.  We can do this in the name of Jesus and the devil will flee from us.  Then we all will have learn one very important lesson, “HOW WE CAN HELP TO OVERCOME ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE.” AMEN!

FEAR-ANGER AND DIVINENESS IS HARMING OUR NATION

Fear, Stress & Anger

HOW YOU CAN LOOSE WEIGHT BY CHANGING YOU’RE THINKING

HOW YOU CAN LOOSE WEIGHT BY CHANGING YOU’RE THINKING

In everything we do, note that it is not the physical actions, that create the results, however, it is the mindset we have while doing it. The physical actions themselves are a means by which we channel the energy of intent into physical manifestation. It is the energy of intent which determines the outcome. This secret explains why different people can do the same exact things but get very different results. In truth, Mind is Principle over everything in life that we engage in.

Learning to use your mind power to control your physical body is your key to your weight reduction.  There is no genie in the bottle that is going to help you lose weight.  You can listen to all the commercials, and so call experts tell you about the greatest methods they have discovered that will help you lose weight and you can end up spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars trying to drop those extra pounds, and yes for a short time you might be able to lose a few of those pounds because someone has convinced you that you really could and you yourself has told yourself that you were going to do it this time.

Look around any city and you will see all kinds of gym springing up.  Radio and TV commercials advertising great rates for the first time user, you see some people with great looking bodies coming out of those beautiful places and you say wow, I want to get my body looking like that.  Well guest what, you can get your body into any desired physical condition that you may desire.  And yes, going to the gym will help, but it is not the key to your body becoming physically sculptured.

The first thing you must remember is the word, “Desire” keep this word in the forefront of your mindPray on it, meditate on it, and write it down and all the time ask yourself, what is it that I desire?  Why do I desire it?  When you answer these questions, allow that desire to become a burning desire within you.  So much so, that everywhere you go, and everything that you do, you will feel that burning desire deep within your soul to make a change in your life.  It is that burning desire to make that change that will propel you into action in such a way that you will begin to feel thinner, you will look into the mirror and see yourself at the desired weight loss and sculptured figured you desired for yourself.

The second thing you must remember is the word, Belief.”  You see nothing happens until you can believe within your mind that it can happen.  You can go to the gym and work out daily, take all kinds of diet pills, sign onto all the weight loss programs in the world, but until you believe it in your own mind that you really can lose 10, 20, 50, 100 pounds or any desired amount nothing is going to happen.  The reason so many people become so discussed with their weight loss programs, is that the people do not always tell you the whole truth.  All they care about is getting your money and then you are really left on your own.  Another reason is that a great many of them do not understand the secret to weight loss and therefore how can they really help you when they have not come into the reality of how the power of the minds works.  You must believe it in order to conceive it and then have it.  Set your weight lost goal, set a reasonable time frame in which to achieve it, then believe in your mind that you are going to achieve it and then wow, you would have achieve what everyone has been telling you that could not be done.

The third thing you must remember is the word, “Faith.”  Faith must be your central focus point to keeping you on track towards reaching your desired goal.  Remember what faith is:  “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen(Hebrews 11:1).”  This is not a definition of faith, but it is a description of what faith does when one takes it and truly believes that it will work for them.  This word substance means “essence” or “reality.”  Faith treats things hoped for as reality.  When your reality is centered upon your weight reduction program and you do not allow doubt to enter into your desired goal, the results will be faith in action.  The word “Evidence” means “proof” or “conviction.”  Faith itself proves that what is unseen is real.  Whatever you have fixed in your mind to make happen in reducing your weight to your desired goal, although it may not be seen with the physical eye at this very moment, but the mind’s eye sees it, accepts it, and then begins to execute your request to bring it into reality at your desired date and time.

The fourth thing you must remember is the word, “Intent.”  What is your intent for wanting to lose weight?  What purpose will it serve you?   Your intent must be clear and communicated to your mind through a clear thought process.  Allowing your mind the opportunity to gather unto itself all the necessary forces of energy it needs to transform you into the person you desire to be.  Be certain about what you want and why you want it.  Let your intent become crystal clear in your mind.

The fifth and final point you must remember is the word, “Transform.”  The word transform simply means to change.  You see if you want to lose weight for any reason, there must be a change in your thinking.  Everything begins and ends in the mind.  In order for you to lose weight, you have to think it.  If you want a sculptured body, thinking about how you would look, the clothes you would wear and how others would be attracted to you.  Your mind is an energy field.  It attracts to it the thoughts that are broad cast into it by your very own thoughts.  A negative thought attracts negative thingsPositive thoughts attract positive things.  Therefore if you think eating health foods will help you be healthy and help to reduce your weight, it will do just that.  The law of attraction is at work here.  Weather it is good or bad, your mind will produce the desired results that you ask it to do.  The Bible teaches us to ask, believe and we shall receive.  You were created with the mind of God.  A mind that can create, build up and tear down.  Whatever you want your mind to do, it is there at your command waiting for instructions from you.  You have the power to change whatever circumstances you are now facing.  Nothing in your life is impossible to you.  The transforming from the old to the new begins with you.  It all begins in your mind.  You must change your thinking from the, “I can’t” to the “I can.”  “I can do all things through God who strengths me.”  The weight that I have on now is only temporary.  I can reduce my weight by 50 pounds within the next 10 months by transforming my thinking, executing this formula and excepting nothing less than my own reality.  With that in mind the brand new me is a done deal.

If you are truly interested in obtaining further details on how you can achieve great results for yourself, <a href=”http://teacher45.Click Here!” target=”_blank”>click here to find out more details.

You can do it, but you must do it NOW!

WHAT DOES AGING MEAN TO YOU

My Dad, My Hero, Me at age 65, My Dad at age 95

WHAT DOES AGING MEAN TO YOU

My Friends, this is a question that I ask each one of you regardless of what age you may be at this time, because we all are living in the process of time.  Day by day, we are moving towards the day we no longer will live in this body.  Therefore, let us understand that there are things we can do to make this process a health one.  Successful aging does not have to be a process of doom and gloom.  The choice that you have before you is to live a joyful and healthy life all your life, in other words all the time you have been given for the task you were sent here to accomplish.  Therefore, I say to you, if you will be obedient to God, as He has commanded you to do, there is no reason to believe you cannot reach your destiny.  Listen to what He commands us to do, He says, “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  (Matthew 6:33 KJV)

Today I celebrate my 66th birthday in this body, and I can truly say that I have been blessed with almost perfect health all 66 years.  I have never been hospitalized, never been on any type of medication and can jog five miles daily.  The Lord has truly poured his blessings out on me and allowed me to walk upon this earth daily teaching and preaching his word in perfect health aging gracefully in what I call successful aging.  You too can experience the same, no matter what age you are, no matter what your physical condition may be.  All you have to do is to start from right where you are at this very moment.  Make a decision to change your way of living and grow daily in God’s grace, watch and smile as you see yourself aging successfully.

Now listen up, as I share with you the process of aging and how you can enjoy this process as you make the necessary changes to get into the process. First, aging is the accumulation of changes in an organism or object over time. Aging in humans refers to a multidimensional process of physical, psychological, and social change. Some dimensions of aging grow and expand over time, while others decline. Reaction time, for example, may slow with age, while knowledge of world events and wisdom may expand. Research shows that even late in life, potential exists for physical, mental, and social growth and development.  In this statement, we understand and now can confirm that modern research has caught up with the teaching of the Bible.  “Now listen to what the bible teaches us concerning aging, it says, “Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.” (Hebrews 12:12 KJV).  This confirms to us that no matter what age we may be, we have an opportunity to change our physical and health conditions if we would only run this race with our minds stayed connected to Jesus.

Remember, aging is an important part of all human societies reflecting the biological changes that occur, but also reflecting cultural and societal conventions. Roughly 100,000 people worldwide die each day of age-related causes.

Age is measured chronologically, and a person’s birthday is often an important event. However, the term “aging” is somewhat ambiguous. Distinctions may be made between “universal aging” (age changes that all people share) and “probabilistic aging” (age changes that may happen to some, but not all people as they grow older including diseases such as type two diabetes). Chronological aging may also be distinguished from “social aging” (cultural age-expectations of how people should act as they grow older) and “biological aging” (an organism’s physical state as it ages).  There is also a distinction between “proximal aging” (age-based effects that come about because of factors in the recent past) and “distal aging” (age-based differences that can be traced back to a cause early in person’s life, such as childhood poliomyelitis).

Differences are sometimes made between populations of elderly people. Divisions are sometimes made between the young old (65–74), the middle old (75–84) and the oldest old (85+). However, problematic in this is that chronological age does not correlate perfectly with functional age, i.e. two people may be of the same age, but differ in their mental and physical capacities. Each nation, government and non-government organization has different ways of classifying age.

Population aging is the increase in the number and proportion of older people in society. Population aging has three possible causes: migration, longer life expectancy (decreased death rate), and decreased birth rate. Aging has a significant impact on society. Young people tend to commit most crimes, they are more likely to push for political and social change, to develop and adopt new technologies, and to need education. Older people have different requirements from society and government as opposed to young people, and frequently differing values as well. Older people are also far more likely to vote, and in many countries the young are forbidden from voting. Thus, the aged have comparatively more political influence.

Now as we grow and age, time has allowed us to begin what I will call successful aging.  The concept of successful aging can be traced back to the 1950s, and popularized in the 1980s. Previous research into aging exaggerated the extent to which health disabilities, such as diabetes orosteoporosis, could be attributed exclusively to age, and research in gerontology exaggerated the homogeneity of samples of elderly people.

Successful aging consists of three components:

1. Low probability of disease or disability;

  1. High cognitive and physical function capacity;
  2. Active engagement with life.

A greater number of people self-report successful aging than those that strictly meet these criteria.

Successful aging may be viewed an interdisciplinary concept, spanning both psychology and sociology, where it is seen as the transaction between society and individuals across the life span with specific focus on the later years of life. The terms “healthy aging”  “optimal aging” have been proposed as alternatives to successful aging.

Six suggested dimensions of successful aging include:

No physical disability over the age of 75 as rated by a physician;

  1. Good subjective health assessment (i.e. good self-ratings of one’s health);
  2. Length of un-disabled life;
  3. Good mental health;
  4. Objective social support;
  5. Self-rated life satisfaction in eight domains, namely marriage, income-related work, children, friendship and social contacts, hobbies, community service activities, religion and recreation/sports.
  6. Mental health can be seen as a continuum, where an individual’s mental health may have many different possible values.[14] Mental wellness is generally viewed as a positive attribute, such that a person can reach enhanced levels of mental health, even if the person does not have any diagnosed mental health condition. This definition of mental health highlights emotional well-being, the capacity to live a full and creative life, and the flexibility to deal with life’s inevitable challenges.[citation needed] Many therapeutic systems and self-help books offer methods and philosophies espousing strategies and techniques vaunted as effective for further improving the mental wellness of otherwise healthy people. Positive psychology is increasingly prominent in mental health.
  7. holistic model of mental health generally includes concepts based upon anthropologicaleducationalpsychologicalreligious and sociological perspectives, as well as theoretical perspectives frompersonalitysocialclinicalhealth and developmental psychology.[15][16]
  8. An example of a wellness model includes one developed by Myers, Sweeney and Witmer. It includes five life tasks—essence or spirituality, work and leisurefriendship, love and self-direction—and twelve sub tasks—sense of worthsense of control, realistic beliefs, emotional awareness and copingproblem solving and creativitysense of humornutritionexercise, self care, stress management, gender identity, and cultural identity—which are identified as characteristics of healthy functioning and a major component of wellness. The components provide a means of responding to the circumstances of life in a manner that promotes healthy functioning. The population of the USA in its’ majority is considered to be mostly uneducated on the subjects of mental health.

In conclusion, let me affirm with you not to worry about your age, but be mindful of how you are aging and enjoy all that God has blessed you with.  Age is only a number that affirms the time of your position in the process.  The process is necessary to help you achieve your purpose in this life, and guides you successfully towards your destination.  The journey is yours to enjoy.  Now live each day as if it is your last day and if you are successful in seeing tomorrow, it will be the first day of the rest of your life.  May God bless each one of you abundantly as He moves you through the process of successful aging?  I remain your brother in Christ, Pastor Davis/Master Teacher.

YOU MUST OVERCOME FEAR TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

YOU MUST OVERCOME FEAR TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

This is one of the most fearful times in our nation’s recent history. How we respond to it, both individually and collectively, may determine the outcome.  However we view it, we must overcome our fears in order that we achieve the success God has already provided for us.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control(2 Timothy 1:7 AMP)

The coping behaviors we are seeing – avoidance, denial, being reactive, staying busy – are somewhat predictable, as are the feelings produced – anxiety, anger. What’s causing such reactions, to a large degree, are unanswered questions such as these: Are we in this together, or is it everyone for themselves? Will we ever find our way out of this, and if so, how long will it take?

Among the unfortunate psychological side effects of a crisis like this is (1). People feeling isolated and believing that they having to work out their work and financial issues on their own because everyone else is preoccupied;  (2). A loss of confidence in our economic and political institutions, and leadership of all kinds, and finally (3). A resulting loss of self-confidence, and even depression as people cope with the crisis in different ways.

We can feel powerlessness and hopeless, which produces a cycle of futility that can spiral downward. People bring all of this baggage to work, where it can show up in a lot of ways – cheerful denial, tense conversations, angry conflicts, misperceptions and miscommunication, and even distrust.

We do have a choice? The choice at home or at work is very simple: Let the fear control your reactions, or embrace the fear.

From reflection comes discernment, and with discernment comes perspective and a more positive attitude.

Looking beyond ourselves in the real and on line world, to reach out to others who might be in need, for we all are truly our Brothers Keeper, may the grace of God abide in you now and forever, in Jesus name, Amen.

HEALTH AND HEALING THROUGH THE POWER OF YOUR MIND (PART 3)

IMAGES OF THE THOUGHT PROCESS

How the conscious and subconscious mind operate to keep you healthy

Our minds, which includes the conscious and subconscious mind is under the direct control of God, and God never makes a mistake when it comes to the physical healing of our bodies.  God is telling us it is now time to transform our thinking, allow new ideals to be awaken in our minds in such a way that our minds will begin to create the necessary healing that will make our bodies whole again and expectable to Christ.

Now listen to how the Lord appeals to us, He says,  1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”  (Romans 12:1-2 AMP)

When God created man in his own image and likeness, he created a perfect individual that could operate on its own individual systems, but that will always be connected to the one present in the universe that sustains all life, that is the creator himself.  He gave man a body, a mind and a soul.  The body was to house the mind and soul of man which would operate to take care of the man needs.  The conscious mind of man was put in charge of the subconscious mind.  Our mind is so designed that it prepares for us the most important foundations of cognition, whilst we have not the slightest apprehension of the modus operandi.

The subconscious soul, like a benevolent stranger, works and makes provision for our benefit, pouring only the mature fruit into our lap; thus ultimate analysis of thought processes shows that the subconscious is the theatre of the most important mental phenomena.

The value of the subconscious is enormous; it inspires us, it warns us; it furnishes us with names, facts, and scenes from the storehouse of memory.  It directs our thoughts, tastes, and accomplishes tasks so intricate that no conscious mind, even if it had the power, has the capacity for.

We can walk at will; we can raise the arm whenever we choose to do so; we can give our attention through eye or ear to any subject at pleasure.  On the other hand, we cannot stop our heart beats or the circulation of the blood, nor the growth of stature, nor the formation of nerve and muscle tissue, nor the building of the bones, nor many other important vital processes.

If we compare these two sets of action, the one decreed by the will of the moment, and the other proceeding in majestic, rhythmic course, subject to no vacillation, but constant at every moment, we stand in awe of the latter, and ask to have mystery explained.  We see at once that these are the vital processes of our physical life, and we cannot avoid the inference that these all important functions are designedly withdrawn from the domain of our outward will with its variations and transitions, and placed under the direction of a permanent and dependable power within us.

Of these two powers, the outward and changeable has been termed the Conscious Mind,” or the “Objective Mind” (dealing with outward objects).  The interior power is called the Subconscious Mind,” or the “Subjective Mind,” and besides its work on the mental plane it controls the regular functions which make physical life possible.

The subconscious mind never sleeps, never rests, any more than does your heart, or your blood.  It has been found that by plainly stating to the subconscious mind certain specific things to be accomplished, forces are set in operation that lead to the result desired.  Here, then, is a source of power which places us in touch with the God who never sleeps or slumbers. You can now clearly see that the power to heal your physical body and transform you into a brand new work of art is in your control.  By suggesting to your subconscious mind the healing that you require for your body is only a thought away, now let the healing begin.  Use the power God has placed in your hand to heal your wounded body.

HEALTH AND HEALING THROUGH THE POWER OF THE MIND

Personification of knowledge (Greek Επιστημη, ...

PERSONIFICATION OF KNOWLEDGE

HOW YOU CAN HARVEST THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE TO BRING HEALING TO YOUR PHYSICAL BODY

Today, we will begin an in-depth study on healing the physical body, providing you with the necessary tools that you can use to manifest healing that will enable you to enjoy a healthier life style. I do this because God said, “it’s time for a change, and my people are suffering because of a lack of VISION in their life style.”  Instead of my people enjoying the benefits of a healthier life, their physical bodies are rapidly decaying due to the lack of KNOWLEDGE of how to bring about the necessary changes that will provide them with a healthier physical body.  God said to me to tell my people this, “ 1ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!(A 2For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you. (Isaiah 60:1-2 AMP).  God wants you to take a stand against the evil spirits that have help to put your physical bodies on the road to decay.   He wants you to be made complete again, because your natural state is wellness, and the primary manifestation of life and how you may get in touch with it, is what I will now attempt to explain to you.

Now let us begin with knowledge, which is of priceless value, because by applying knowledge we can make our future what we wish it to be.  When we realize that our present character, our present environment, our present ability, our present physical condition are all the result of past methods of thinking, we shall begin to have some conception of the value of knowledge.

If the state of our health is not all that could be desired, let us examine our method of thinking, let us remember that every thought produces an impression on the mind; every impression is a seed which will sink into the subconscious and form a tendency. The tendency will be to attract other similar thoughts and before we know it we shall have a crop which must be harvested.

If these thoughts contain disease germs, the harvest will be sickness, decay, weakness, and failure; the question is, what are we thinking, what are we creating, what is the harvest to be?

James Allen wrote in his book, “Mind is the Master,” these words.  “Even physical conditions are largely determined by mental states, and to this truth the scientific world is rapidly being drawn.  The old, materialistic belief that a man is what his body makes him is rapidly passing away, and is being replaced by the inspiring belief that man is superior to his body, and that his body is what he makes it by the power of thought.  Men everywhere are ceasing to believe that a man is despairing because he is dyspeptic, and are coming to understand that he is dyspeptic because he is despairing, and in the near future, the fact that all disease has its origin in the mind will become common knowledge.

There is no evil in the universe but has its root and origin in the mind, and sin, sickness, sorrow, and affliction do not, in reality, belong to the universal order, are not inherent in the nature of things, but are the direct outcome of our ignorance of the right relations of things.

According to tradition, there once lived, in India, a school of philosophers who led a life of such absolute purity and simplicity that they commonly reached the age of one hundred and fifty years, and to fall sick was looked upon by them as an unpardonable disgrace, for it was considered to indicate a violation of law.

The sooner we realize and acknowledge that sickness, far from being the arbitrary visitation of an offended God, or the test of an unwise Providence, is the result of our own error or sin, the sooner shall we enter upon the highway of health?  Disease comes to those who attract it, to those whose minds and bodies are receptive to it, and flee from those whose strong, pure, and positive thought-sphere generates healing and life-giving currents.

If you are given to anger, worry, jealousy, greed, or any other inharmonious state of mind, and expect perfect physical health, you are expecting the impossible, for you are continually sowing the seeds of disease in your mind.  Such conditions of mind are carefully shunned by the wise man, for he knows them to be far more dangerous than a bad drain or an infected house.

If you would be free from all physical aches and pains, and would enjoy perfect physical harmony, then put your mind in order, and harmonize your thoughts.  Think joyful thoughts; think loving thoughts; let the elixir of goodwill course through your veins, and you will need no other medicine.  Put away your jealousies, your suspicions, your worries, your hatreds, your selfish indulgences, and you will put away your dyspepsia, your biliousness, your nervousness and aching joints.  If you will persist in clinging to these debilitating and demoralizing habits of mind, then do not complain when your body is laid low with sickness.”  From James Allen, “The secret of health, success, and power.” Page 30
