Moses offers up his list of “BUT GOD EXCUSES”

Moses offers up his list of “BUT GOD” excuses

EXODUS 01

In our lesson series today “THE EXODUS FROM EGYPT”, God has called Moses to begin a Mission into Egypt to bring His people up out of Slavery.  However, as God begins to lay out His plans to Moses for this Mission, Moses becomes a reluctant Servant by offering up his list of, “BUT GOD EXCUSES!”

By Moses initial reactions and his uses of “BUT GOD “excuses, you would not be alone in your reluctant to except God’s calling you out to GO.

Now let us take a look at Moses inventory of disqualifications of “BUT GOD,” excuses.  We begin with his very first one which was his LACK OF CAPABILITY, “And Moses said to God, Who I am, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”  (Exodus 3:11 AMB).

HIS LACK OF MESSAGE; “And Moses said to God, Behold, when I come to the Israelites and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? What shall I say to them?” (Exodus 3:13 AMB).

LACK OF AUTHORITY; AND MOSES answered, But behold, they will not believe me or listen to and obey my voice; for they will say, The Lord has not appeared to you. (Exodus 14:1 AMB).

LACK OF ELOQUENCE; And Moses said to the Lord, O Lord, I am not eloquent or a man of words, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and have a heavy and awkward tongue. (Exodus 4:10 AMB).

LACK OF SPECIAL ADAPTATION;  And he said, Oh, my Lord, I pray You, send by the hand of [some other] whom You will [send]. (Exodus 4:13 AMB).

LACK OF PREVIOUS SUCCESS; For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people, neither have You delivered Your people at all.  (Exodus 5:23 AMB).

LACK OF PREVIOUS ACCEPTANCE;  But Moses said to the Lord, Behold, [my own people] the Israelites have not listened to me; how then shall Pharaoh give heed to me, who am of deficient and impeded speech?  (Exodus 6:12 AMB)

As you read Moses list of “BUT GOD,” excuses, you get a picture perfect understanding that the two list of“BUT GOD” excuses are pretty much the same.  Now instead of pleasing God, Moses seeming humility and reluctance stirred His anger.  “The anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses (Exodus 4:14).  In point of fact, the “BUT GOD” excuses Moses advanced to show his incapacity were the very reasons for God’s selection of him for the task.”

Now what do you think of your “BUT GOD” excuses?  In concluding this message this observation was offered up by (F. B. Meyer, Moses, the Servant of God).  F. B. Meyer found that in Exodus 3:11 “There was something more than humility here; there was a tone of self-depreciation which was inconsistent with a true faith in God’s selection and appointment. Surely it is God’s business to choose His special instruments; and when we are persuaded that we are in the line of His purpose, we have no right to question the wisdom of His appointment. To do so is to depreciate His wisdom or to doubt His power and willingness to become all that is necessary to complete our need”

Now we leave you with our peace that God will bless you and help you to overcome your “BUT GOD”excuses.

We will continue with THE EXODUS STORY on Tuesday March 10, 2015.

TIME TO STOP MAKING “BUT GOD’ EXCUSES

but god 01

My Brothers and Sisters, today’s lesson offers you an opportunity to look deep into your soul and examine yourself with a critical eye upon your qualifications to serve out your purpose on this earth.

What is it that is holding you back from moving forward when God has called you to “GO?”  Are you examining yourself using your predetermined list of negatives which you feel will disqualify you in the eyes of God?  By so doing, you can always say, “BUT GOD” “I am not qualified to stand before your people and preached the gospel, “BUT GOD,” I am not qualified to be a missionary leader. “BUT GOD,” I am not qualified to be a Sunday School Teacher,

“BUT GOD,” I am not qualified to sing in the choir.  “BUT GOD,” I am not qualified for such a position in that great company, “BUT GOD,” I am not qualified to start my own business.  “BUT GOD,” I am not qualified to do this or do that.

“BUT GOD,” “BUT GOD,” “BUT GOD,” please don’t send me, send somebody else, [you cry out loud,] and your list of “BUT GOD,” gets longer and longer, do you not understand that before God called you, He had already determined your qualifications for services in His Kingdom.  So why do you continue to make excuses before God?

You are a created being, created in the image of God, with the character of God to fulfill your purpose and the purpose for what God created you for while you are alive and living in this earth at this moment and time.  You are never too young and you are never too old.   It is your time to do what’s right and pleasing in God’s sight.  By continuing to offer up your “BUT GOD,” excuses, you are wasting valuable time which you can never gain back.  When God calls you, He will never give up on you, He will never leave or forsake you, nor will he put on you more than you can bear.  God never makes a mistake, and He knows just what he is doing.

This concludes this portion of our “BUT GOD’ lesson. We will begin our Easter Story of Moses, a reluctant warrior with his own “BUT GOD’ starting tomorrow morning. Here is how the story begins; In this EASTER STORY, MOSES was a reluctant servant when God called upon him to go down to EGYPT and bring HIS people up out of SLAVERY.  At the very moment God called on MOSES, he begin to offer up to God his list of “BUT GOD” excuses.

By Moses initial reactions and his uses of “BUT GOD “excuses, you would not be alone in your reluctant to except God’s calling you out to GO.

God shows us there is mystery everywhere

GOD SHOWS US THERE IS MYSTERY EVERYWHERE

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES

MYSTERY EVERYWHERE THE TREES BUDDING THE BIRDS SINGING (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

MYSTERY EVERYWHERE THE TREES BUDDING THE BIRDS SINGING (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

I begin my day as I do in most days with a brisk walk in the early morning dew.  As I walk, I see the MYSTERY OF GOD EVERYWHERE, and in everything.  The birds chirping and singing praise, the trees budding, and the freshness of the morning air enters my body, lifts my spirits and brings joy and excitement to my soul like nothing else I have ever experience before.  Nothing but THE MYSTERY OF GOD EVERYWHERE!

The dictionary describes the word MYSTERY as, “a religious truth that one can know only by revelation and cannot fully understand.”

As I sit and looked at my computer screen, my mind was deep in thought watching each blink of the cursor urging me to begin writing something. I ask God, “to let it be with me, feed me with strength and endurance, give me knowledge wisdom and understanding of things I cannot see, because I know your MYSTERY IS EVERYWHERE. At any given moment LORD, make me at home in your WORD, my plea.”

There will come a point in our lives when we will come to realize that the “WORLD” we live in is not a neat tidy place in which we are able to gain control on our own, without God we are useless, nothing.  It is part of THE GREAT MYSTERY!

THE GREAT MYSTERY OF THE EARLY MORNING SUNRISE (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

THE GREAT MYSTERY OF THE EARLY MORNING SUNRISE (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

What we experience from a “WORDLY” perspective are situations we encounter in some way daily; suffering, injustice, ugliness in attitude and behaviors, pain, poverty, abuse, just a few of what the “WORLD” offers sin-starved cluttered minds of IMIGATION.

The beauty in all of this is that in God’s World, we are able to find love and forgiveness, release from our short-comings. God’s World offers grace, freedom, mercy, joy, sacrifice, love…everything is included in his love, relationship, teaching/training, and correction/discipline, loving and saving us all the way until we are finally able to comprehend the fullness of the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE in his presence.

Chosen of God: When we are open and willing to accept Christ and his teachings, we share in the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE, which surrounds us. Until we come to know and operate within the principles of his teachings we are unable to reach fulfillment. Unless we open our hearts and minds, it’s easy to misunderstand how God works, how we become part of his secured possession.

What we must realize is that the “root” of a solid spiritual life is embedded in our relationship between people and God; we are no longer our “separate self” we are all “interconnected” in some way.

Everything we do, think or feel is who we are in Christ; we often seek a religion or faith that gives us access to God, expecting to do so with-out having to be “bothered” with people  or only” bothered when we so desire”. That’s the beauty of the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE, our very existence is composed and shaped by all we are able to see, touch, hear, taste and smell. So we are in the presence of God, the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE when we are open and ready to receive such gifts that are from above, not “man-made”. We learn to live our earthly existence in expectancy of what is yet to come, that’s the exciting part of our reality, it is therefore most advisable to stay centered and remain focused because we know “Joy” waits for all willing to become a part of the pattern.

In order to share in the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE, we must learn to release, to let go of negative thoughts and things that tend to pull you of course, reaffirm these thoughts as you journey: “I release my spirit into the wind, where there are no boundaries or obstacles, to freely soar above the worldly elements that threaten to drain the very source that gives life. I soar free in spirit interacting with those that welcome me as I am, dear Lord, let it be with me just as you say, allow me to share in the MYSTERY EVERYWHERE; where-ever I may journey, uninhibited, unrestrained.”  Thank you Heavenly Father, for allowing me to see and be a part of your MYSTERY EVERYWHERE!  Today, my soul is FREE and I lift up my hands, rejoice, worship and praise you.

Thank you for visiting, reading and studying with us; may you enjoy the natural beauty of God’s Mysteries Everywhere in all that you do each and everyday.  Click on the link below and visit our youtube teaching channel:

Monday’s Word of Encouragement (Be filled with Joy)

BE FILLED WITH JOY:

joy 11

Greetings My Dear Brothers and Sisters, welcome to the first day of the rest of your life.  For it is truly an amazing moment that we have this opportunity to begin a brand new week with our hearts filled with JOY!

The CHOICE we make this day will determine our success are failure for the rest of this week and possibly the rest of our natural life.  Therefore, I encourage you to choose well this day whom you will follow and what and whom you will allow into your space and joy 03minds, knowing that you are going to face many test of your faith as you step out into the world.  The old devil and his band of angels are waiting for you to enter into their space so they can show you all their glitter, tempting you to CHOOSE their way instead of the Lord’s way.

However, we can find encouragement in the Word of the Lord when He was faced with similar test from the devil, and this is what He says to us, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” (James 1:2-3 ESV)

JOY

BE ENCOURAGED IN THE LORD

My Brothers and Sisters as we walk the walk and talk the talk, let us remain steadfast in our faith when we face trials of any sort because, in Jesus we have the perfect example in which to follow.  Listen to what the Word of God says to us, “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2 ESV)

FINDING JOY IN YOUR JOURNEY THIS DAY:joy 04

My Brothers and Sisters, it is my hope and prayer that as you begin your journey this week you will be filled with JOY in all that you do.  Therefore, I leave you with the final word from the Lord, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV)

Sunday Prayer Praise and Worship Service 114 (Servants called to Serve)

BECOMING FISHERS OF MEN (Photo by Pastor Davis)

BECOMING FISHERS OF MEN (Photo by Pastor Davis)

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, as we enter into the Kingdom of God to be with Him in prayer, praise and worship, know that their is a calling upon your life, and Jesus is calling out to you to come and follow HIM and He is going to make you a fishers of Men in the same manner He called His first two disciples, He is still calling out to Men and Women all around the World to Come and then Go!

LET US PRAY:The Angel Gabriel announcement to Mary by Photo Bucket

Almighty God our Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending your Son Jesus into my life and the lives of all your children; I heard His call and today I am answering that call to pick up my cross and follow Him. I now realize this is my time, my mission, and I will be your disciple, a servant that has been chosen to do your will.  I honor you, I love you, I praise you and I will be obedient to your will, in Jesus name, Amen!

THE CALL FROM JESUS:

THE TWO FISHERMAN CALL FROM JESUS (Photo by Pastor Davis)

THE TWO FISHERMAN CALL FROM JESUS (Photo by Pastor Davis)

Here is how Jesus began is calling, “While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.  And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ” (Matthew 4:18-19 ESV)

Are you ready to lay aside the life that you have come to know, step outside of your comfort zone, pick your cross and follow Jesus?  You are a Servant being called to Serve; have you touched the handle of the plow?  Jesus said in Luke 9:62, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

The time is now to lift our eyes up towards Heaven and know that the Kingdom of God has come and it is living inside of us, waiting on us to step up and become faithful Servants, stepping out on our faith, with our battle gear on, knowing that we have been prepared, fully equipped and ready for the Spiritual War that is now upon us.

Jesus has CALLED us, and now He is saying GO!  “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)

WORSHIP TIME:

It is now time to go to the word to get the rest of the story.  Today my Friend and Brother in Christ Jesus Pastor Dennis R. Everett, Sr from the Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church is going to provide the rest of the story on what Jesus meant when He said GO!

ALTER CALL:

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father we thank you for allowing us to come into your presence and worship you, strengthen us as we GO out to SERVE; Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,  to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

Saturday Morning Devotional Prayer and Praise Service (Servants called to Serve)

WE ARE SERVANTS CALLED TO SERVE

CHILDREN FROM THE EMMANUEL CHURCH OF INDIA LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS IN PRAISE AND WORSHIP FOR OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST

CHILDREN FROM THE EMMANUEL CHURCH OF INDIA LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS IN PRAISE AND WORSHIP FOR OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST

My Brothers and Sisters let us prepare our hearts and minds for our Weekend prayer praise and worship service. For it is truly a moment and time that we can serve God, worship him in his high place, and serve each other. We are servants call to serve mankind. Expressing our love for each other is a form off service. For the Lord our God has granted us the freedom and opportunity to go to our jobs, our businesses, our schools and serve mankind. Now he is calling us as servants to come forth lift up our holy hands and serve him.

Now listen to what Paul tells us to do, He says, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13 ESV) Let us take heed to Paul’s message, be obedient servants, serve God and each other, do not allow the devil to steal our joy, our freedom, and our ability to come before the throne of grace and praise God.

Being given our freedom to serve does not mean that we have freedom to sin. Let us keep our eye on the prize, which is Jesus Christ. Let this Freedom encourage us to have a heart for service. As a Christian we know that our freedom is in Christ Jesus, and this would exclude any possible thought that it might ever mean freedom to sin. Let us understand this one very important fact, and that we are to love one another as Jesus Christ’s has love each one of us.

For I can say to you today that a proper outlet for our freedom is simply this: “make it a habit to be slaves one to another.” Now listen to what Jesus tells us, “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.” (John 12:26 ESV)

Therefore my brothers and sisters let us prepare our hearts and minds to lift up the Lord our God in prayer praise and worship this Weekend. Then let us go out and serve our fellowman. Becoming a true servant of the Lord, doing his will in the manner in which he will have us to do it. Let us love one another with all our hearts, minds and our soul. Be on one accord with each other in order that our heavenly father will honor each of us. Always remember, “WE ARE SERVANTS CALLED TO SERVE!”

Listen to how Isaiah prophesied about the “The Sin-Bearing-Servant”

He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…he has borne our grief and carried our sorrows…he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities and by his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53: 3-5).

Allow this Easter Holiday to become a time you seriously consider getting to know more about the one who came and died so that you can know how wonderful it is to be free, free indeed.

HIS DESTINY WAS KNOWN

JESUS THE MESSIAH WHOS’ DESTINY WAS FORETOLD:

A LOVING SAVIOUR:

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:

As the Easter Holiday approaches many will see it as a time of joy and celebration of a tradition, one that is set aside every year. Really it has far more meaning than celebration of new attire and the Easter egg hunt. It is about honoring a savior who came to redeem mankind through freedom from sin, and the most important thing to remember is that he gave his life for all. Take a moment to reflect on his final days and hours before he said, “It is finished.”

Six days before the feast of Passover Jesus made a trip to Bethany (John 12:1; NKJV); he knew then that his hour had come to depart this world (earthly realm) to return to his Father with his purpose and commitment completed. He already knew that the devil would attempt his final act through one of his close companions for the scripture says, Jesus was troubled in his spirit and said, “I say to you, one of you will betray me (John 13: 21).”

His greatest desire was to spend the final days with those he had chosen through Holy Communion. He had final instructions before departing, instructions vital for carrying the message to the world, to continue to follow his designed pattern. During fellowship with them he said, “I have given you an example that you should do as I have done to you (John 13:15).” He went on to emphasize the most important part of fellowship, when he said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another…all will know that you are my disciples (John 13:34). If you love me, keep my commandments, these things I have spoken to you, that in me you will have peace; in the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer I have overcome the world (John 16: 33).

Remember, Jesus is about to face turbulent moments in the days ahead, yet, he show concern for mankind even in the darkest hours. When he faced death, his prayer to the Father was a deep cry for intervention, yet he said, your will not my will be done.

Isaiah prophesized about the “The Sin-Bearing-Servant”

He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…he has borne our grief and carried our sorrows…he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities and by his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53: 3-5).

Allow this Easter Holiday to become a time you seriously consider getting to know more about the one who came and died so that you can know how wonderful it is to be free, free indeed.
