In order to face alcoholism and start on the road to recovery, you should have a basic understanding of the disease and its characteristics. Alcoholism is usually defined by the following traits: Click on this link to read the complete story:

Why are alcoholics always in denial?

Let’s begin by stating this one simple fact, alcohol is an addictive drug.” Yet so many of our young people as well as adults, abuse this drug as though it will do no harm to their bodies are their minds. They say, just a little drink, why not? I can handle it. Yet when the damage is done, they are in complete denial that they ever done anything wrong. They even go so far as to say that they don’t remember what happen when they awaken. What they said or what they done. They have a complete memory lost when it comes to their actions after they have had a drink and a good time was had or so they thought. Now the alcoholic will say, “Having a drink is my own business.” Indeed it is! At least up to a point. Then it becomes the business of all of us who have to endure the suffering after the alcoholic has committed the damage, and that damage can be very serious at times.

They say, “I’m just a moderate drinker.” When does moderate drinking develop into intemperance? You can go to any rescue mission and hear the same story over and over. The person had money, prestige, a good job, a fine family, but then all at once, or so it seemed, he was on the skids. It all started with a little drink that “won’t hurt.” The very thing that had made him friends had turned on him and had caused his ruination. The biblical warning, Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise” (Proverbs 20:1), had now been proven in his own life. And the drink demon had not been satisfied until the victim hit bottom.
Many traffic accidents are caused by those whose judgment has been impaired by alcohol. My friend Mary hadn’t drunk much; she could still drive her car. She did, and forced another car into the path of an oncoming truck.
The result: four cars piled up, six people dead, a whole family wiped out. Mary went free, walked away from the carnage unhurt except for the responsibility.
Dr. Samuel, a minister on his way to a mission, was driving his car on the right side of the freeway. Then, without warning, a car came hurtling through the snow flurry, head-on, killing him, his wife, and a passenger, and injuring their little son for life.

So it’s your own business if you drink? Well, that’s what thousands of drinking drivers say. The victims of such drivers think differently at least those who are still able to think.

It’s your own business if you drink? What about a wife, a husband, uncle, aunt, friends, children? How much abuse, neglect, shame, and insecurity do they suffer when you drink? Many a promising relationships have been wrecked as a result of alcohol.

The one thing that keeps coming up over and over and that is what you say. You say you can quit anytime you want to. You are sure you will quit before you plunge too deeply. But yet you continue down the same dangerous path. What will be the end results? When an alcoholic continue to be in denial of the very fact they do really have a problem and they can handle it own their own disaster is just around the corner.

If you ever need a speaker to come your way, please reach out! W e have a ministry of “speaking” to the church letting them know it is time to take off the “rose colored glasses!” Too many parents turn thier heads to this because they can not believe that it was their child, or that they had something to do with it…. Meaning they are enabling and need to learn some boundaries….. I could go on and on….but I willl leave you with this… Thank you for sharing and being transparent!

  3. Thanks for posting this, I battle with addiction a long time and it´s been less than a year since I been sober. Love to wake up early without a hangover and just sit and watch through the window the sun rising or the rain falling, I will admit that with a cigarette in one hand. That I can´t stop it, but it´s better than the other stuff I was doing. Again, I appreciate you posting these type of things, I do believe it is a disease and is very hard to say I´ll never do it. It´s a constant battle.

You are welcome friend and it is most humbling that you share your struggles with others. As you seek to grow and live out your created purpose, remember the battle is within the mind and you will overcome, it’s a process. May you be uplifted to a place where you are able to find renewal and strength in your growth. Be blessed friend.

  12. Thank you for you information. It is all very true. I am a recovered alcoholic only by the grace of God. I can verify how seemingly innocent it seems at first to experiment with a drink or two. Those of us who are alcoholics ready to become activated by alcohol consumption fall into the hopeless pit of alcoholism with no hesitation. By the way, the drink demon (Satan) is only satisfied when the addicted person is Dead.

What I am about to say is a critique and not criticism: It is a good idea is to have someone proof your material before publishing. Misspelled words and skewed grammar can be distracting to your valuable information on such an important subject.
