LEARNING HOW TO CHANNEL YOUR FAITH

Channeling Your Faith requires changing how you think and your relationship with God, your higher power. We tend to strive for things in the world that will complete or identify who we are instead of whose we are. We adapt to our surroundings allowing that to form our character into the very image of worldly ways or standards that is what’s expected, we’ve come to believe.

Channeling Your Faith assumes a totally different path. Faith requires obedience which moves us from the position of being caught up, conforming to the world’s way. We are reminded of Jesus, his teachings and the pattern he’s given to follow; therefore, we cannot worship two God’s at once. Making the decision to step out in faith requires commitment and sacrifice. Scripture reminds us that faith is not what we see with our mortal eyes but it is a hope (a trust) planted deep in our spirits.

THE BIRD LIVING FREE (PHOTO BY SHIRLEY RHODES)

In channeling your faith you make the decision to follow God and in doing so don’t concern yourselves with material gains because there is more to life than what you eat and wear; more to who you are than clothing.  Jesus described it this way: “Observe the birds how they are free, unfettered, and careless in the care of God; we are of far more value to God. Observe the wildflowers and all their beauty, they never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and designs quiet like it? Even those who are best dressed look shabby in comparison.” Just think, If God give so much attention to wildflowers and birds, won’t he take care of you, take pride in you and do his best for you? (Matthew 6:25-33)

What you can do is pay attention to God, how he works, he has promised to take care of his own. So, don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. James 4:13 puts it this way, “We don’t know the first thing about tomorrow, we are nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead make it a habit to say, “If the Master wills it and we’ll still alive, we’ll do this or that.”

So you ask, what is the process for Channeling Your Faith? Place everything about you before the Master Jesus, embrace him and his message, become interconnected within the pattern; be willing to change the way you think, don’t become so well adjusted to the world that surrounds you that you’re not able to recognize what it is God wants from you and wants to do through you; embrace the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. For once in your life dare to be different, allow God’s love to flow through you, from your center, focus on the eternal purpose and move in faith. Allow faith to be your road map, guide, friend and companion and in that, Christ will do within you a mighty work. We are all created and chosen for a purpose.

There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Every part of Scripture is God breathed and useful one way or another–showing us the truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Learning how to Channel Your Faith molds and shape you for the tasks God has especially for you to share with others, his way.

We hope that this lesson has been a blessing to your soul.  If so why not share it with someone else and allow them to receive their blessing this day.

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN OVERCOME MONDAY MORNING BLUES

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN OVERCOME MONDAY MORNING BLUES

FREE YOUR MIND AND BE FREE INDEED

GOD’S WILD AND BEAUTIFUL FLOWER GARDEN (Photo by Pastor Davis)

In the world today we find that people are filled with anxious desires to overcome their present lot in life. Anxieties are running deep in their veins, being faced with much lack of everything that this world has to offer and in their heart of hearts not being able to have the basics necessaries that GOD has promised to them that love and believe in the LORD.  Nevertheless, I say to all the people, know that God never makes a promise that he will not fulfill.  Just hold onto God’s unchanging hands and your storehouse will never be bare.  You see, God has provided the world with all the necessary things for man’s survival in this world.  Remember, there are three basics things that we need for our survival and they are; the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat.  These three basics necessities, God provides them in great abundances’ and they are FREE and without germs are diseases.  FREE YOUR MIND AND BE FREE INDEED

But now I can just here you saying, “I need a job, and without a job how can I have food on my table for me and my family to eat, clothes for my children to wear, money to pay my mortgage and car note, money to keep the lights and gas on in my house, money to send my kids to college.  I will grant you these are important things to consider in helping offset some of these burdens that you are now facing, but are they really the most important things you need to do in order to have a healthy and prosper life style? Think deeply on this for a moment before you continue reading the rest of the story!

For further information about entering the job market and getting the job you desire, click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geK_yezaTKI

Now I say to you, listen carefully to what the word has to say about all of this, it says’ “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and

unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.

“Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, and do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.  (Matthew 6:25-34 MSG)

You see, in this passage Jesus is trying to bring you into the realization that you are important to Him and you are free of all yokes and bondage of man’s rule over you.  It is not man that is going to provide you with the necessities of this life, but it is God who provides all of those who believe. DO YOU BELIEVE?

BALL AND CHAINS KEEP YOU IN BONDAGE...

BALL AND CHAINS KEEP YOU IN BONDAGE…

The first prerequisite of having the great abundances of this life is to be set FREE.  You have to remove the ball and chain from around your ankle.     Release the Spirit in your Mind and set it FREE of the bondage that is keeping you from having all the things that you desire in this world.  It is not that man is not providing you with a job to meet your basics needs that is hindering you from having.  It is your own thought process that is keeping you from having; your dependence upon another person to provide you with a job, when God has already told you to use your own thought process and you can have anything that you may desire.  Free your mind and be free indeed.  If the Son of God Sets You FREE, you must realize the greatest news of all and that is, “You are truly FREE.”  At a time when Jesus was speaking truth to power, this is what he said to the Jews and what he is saying to you and I right here and now, “Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will FREE you.” (John 8:31-32 MSG)

These are the words of truth that were birthed in you from the beginning of time.  They are the words that will allow you to create that job that you are concern about in order to be in a position to meet your basic worldly needs.  They are the words that will bring about that change from the old man to the new.  They are the words that you can take to the cashier at your bank, present them with a check with whatever amount you desire at the time and be guaranteed it will be cashed with no questions asked.

Now is the time for you to learn how to properly use your Imagination to create within you all that God has already provided for you from the very beginning of time.  Click on this short Video Clip and discover the power of your Imagination.

You are the ruler of your life, the power given to you by the maker and creator of this world.  No man holds power over you but the one you give to hold such power.  And when you are ready to make the change and your determination is so great that you are willing to do whatever is necessary to be the true ruler of your life, the new person in you will show up and nothing can stop you from rising to take your place in this world of great abundance.  The time is now for you to, FREE YOUR MIND AND BE FREE INDEED!”

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

Throughout this year we have discussed with you many times the word transformation.”  We have done so because we realized early on as we begin this teaching ministry that in order for us to be successful at what we were doing, we to needed to be in the flow of the transformation process.

We have learned a great deal from your many wonderful comments, and as we continue into 2012, we will apply the knowledge and understanding we gleamed from your thoughts and apply them to our teaching methods in hopes that many more of you will gain some valuable lessons from what is being taught here.

The subject of this lesson is:  “YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY.”  The very first thought in many of your minds will be doubt.  Saying, I don’t have any power.  Others have the power, but I am powerless to transform a single dream I have ever had into reality.  That is truly the kind of negative thinking that hinders you from becoming the genius that God destiny you to become from the very beginning of time.  Now let me encourage you to pause your reading right here for a moment and watch this short video clip as it helps to further engage your mind with great thoughts of manifesting your dreams into reality.  Please continue reading on the other side of this video clip.  After you have completed this message, do not forget to click on the share button and share it on your social networking page as well as with friends and family.

Let us understand this one very important thing in our lives, and that is, our negative thoughts are the seeds we plant in our minds that begins the process of creating lack, poverty and all the things that we have dreamed of having, but have not been able to obtain in our lives thus far.

When your thoughts are always centered on the negative side of life, you set up the conditions which correspondence with the predominant mental attitude in your mind.  Therefore, if we fear disaster, as fear is a powerful form of thought, disaster will be the certain result of our thinking.  It is this form of thought which frequently sweeps away the result of many years of toil and effort.

However, if we begin the process of planting positive seeds in our mind instead of the negative ones and begin to think of some form of material wealth, the results will be that it will show up at the time and place it is most needed.  By concentrated thought the required conditions will be brought about, and the proper effort put forth, which will result in bringing about the circumstances necessary to realize our desires; but we often find that when we secure the things we thought we wanted, they do not have the effect we expected.  That is, the satisfaction is only temporary, or possibly is the reverse of what we expected.

This condition is because, we lack the knowledge of the power and where that power derives from.  Know that God is the source of all power that we have within our physical bodies and spiritual minds.  Therefore, we must learn to lean and depend on God when we are face with the difficult task of the transformation process.  Listen to what God tells us to do, He says, “ Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).  (Jeremiah 33:3).

When you are ready to put your trust in God, the power of transformation will show up on your front door step.  The power to make this happen is already within you.  God gave this power to you from the very beginning of time.  So when you say you are powerless to make your dreams become a reality, think on this, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.  (Psalms 37:4-5 AMP).

We must transform our thinking in order to realize our dreams.  The old orthodox way of thinking was to be “a worm,” to be satisfied with our portion whatever it is; but the modern idea is to know that we are entitled to the best of everything, that the “Father and I are one” and that the “Father” is the UNIVERSAL MIND, the CREATOR, the ORIGINAL SUBSTANCE from which all things proceed.

Now admitting that to transform your thinking from the negative to the positive and it has been taught to us for more than two thousand years, and it is the essence of every system of Philosophy or Religion, then how are we to make it practical in our lives?  How are we to go get the actual, tangible results here and now that will make our dreams become a reality?

First, let us begin by putting our knowledge into practice.  Nothing can be accomplished in any other way.

The athlete may read books and lessons on physical training all his life, but unless he begins to give out strength by actual work he will never receive any strength; he will eventually get exactly what he gives; but he will have to give it first.  It is exactly the same with us; we will get exactly what we give, but we shall have to give it first.  It will then return to us many fold, and the giving is simply a mental process, because thoughts are causes and conditions are effects; therefore in giving thoughts of courage, inspiration, health or help of any kind we are setting causes in motion which will bring about their effect.

Let us understand that your thoughts are spiritual activity and is therefore creative, but make no mistake, thought will create nothing unless it is consciously, systematically, and constructively directed; and herein is the difference between idle thinking, which is simply a dissipation of effort, and constructive thinking, which means practically unlimited achievement.

Remember, you have the power to make the transition from the old person to the new person.  It all lives in the power of your belief system, your thought process.  Now take advantage of the power that God has given to you, stop giving lip service to who and what you are and become the true creative power that lives within.

We minister to you this day from the position of PEACE, PURPOSE, POWER and PROSPERITY.  Learn to think Globally as you work Locally to make this major transition in your life.  I remain your brother in CHRIST, PASTOR DAVIS/MASTER TEACHER!

CALMNESS OF MIND

CALMNESS OF MIND

This article is taken from JAMES ALLEN book title, “AS A MAN THINKETH,” the last chapter in this book title, “SERENITY!”

SERENITY (Photo by Pastor Davis)

All week long we have been teaching on “CALMNESS OF MIND,” this piece is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I have ever encountered.  I encourage you to read it, study it, copy it, and carry it with you and at every opportunity for the next 90 days pull it out and read it again.  This is truly one of the Master Keys to opening up your mind to wisdom and providing you with peace and serenity.  The more relax you become, the more creative you become, and what you are going to find is, the most productive people in all walks of life are those that are relax.  CALMNESS OF MIND is a beautiful jewel of wisdom.

Now here is what the author, “James Allen” teaches us.  He says, “Calmness of mind is one of the

beautiful jewels of wisdom.”  It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control.  Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.

A man becomes calm in the measure that he understands himself as a Thought-evolved being, for such knowledge necessitates the understanding of others as the result of thought, and as he develops a right understanding, and sees more and more clearly the internal relations of things by the action of cause and effect, he ceases to fuss and fume and worry and grieve, and remains poised, steadfast, serene.

The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows how to adapt himself to others; and they, in turn, reverence his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and rely upon him.  The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good.  Even the ordinary trader will find his business prosperity increase as he develops a greate self-control and equanimity, for people will always prefer to deal with a man whose demeanor is strongly equable.

The strong, calm man is always loved and revered.  He is like a shape-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a storm.  “Who does not love a tranquil heart, a sweet-tempered, balanced life?  It does not matter whether it rains or shines, or what changes come to those possessing these blessings, for they are always sweet, serene, and calm.  That exquisite poise of character, which we call serenity, is the last lesson of culture; it is the flowering of life, the fruitage of the soul.  It is precious as wisdom, more to be desired than gold—yea, than even fine gold.  How insignificant mere money seeking looks in comparison with a serene life—a life that dwells in the ocean of Truth, beneath the waves, beyond the reach of tempests, in the Eternal Calm!

“How many people we know who sour their lives, who ruin all that is sweet and beautiful by explosive tempers, who destroy their poise of character, and make bad blood!  It is a question whether the great majority of people do not ruin their lives and mar their happiness by lack of self-control.  How few people we meet in life who are well-balanced, who have that exquisite poise which is characteristic of the finished character!”

Yes, humanity surges with uncontrolled passions, is tumultuous with ungoverned grief, is blown about by anxiety and doubt.  Only the wise man, only he whose thoughts are controlled and purified, makes the winds and the storms of the soul obey him.

Tempest-tossed souls, wherever ye may be, under  whatsoever conditions ye may live, know this—in the ocean of life the isles of Blessedness are smiling, and the sunny shore of your ideal awaits your coming.  Keep your hand firmly upon the helm of thought.  In the bark of your soul reclines the commanding Master; He does but sleep; wake Him.  Self-control is strength; Right Thought is mastery; Calmness is power.  Say unto your heart, “Peace, be still!”

FINDING CALMNESS IN OUR MINDS AND PEACE IN OUR SOULS

FINDING CALMNESS IN OUR MINDS AND PEACE IN OUR SOULS

SHANIA A. BYARS DISPLAYS CALMNESS OF MIND (Photo by Pastor Davis)

In the lessons we are presenting this week, they are all about discovering inner peace, what is inner peace, how do you achieve inner peace, what are the benefits of inner peace.  These are just a few of the questions that we wrestle with in our lives every day.  If you could just pause your many thoughts for just a moment and think about all the anger, resentment, unhappiness, physical and mental tension, nervousness, strife and the waste of time and energy that results from lack of inner peace, then you will start to appreciate the importance of discovering what real peace of mind is all about.

Now listen to what the bible tells us about finding inner peace, it says, “If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.”  (Ecclesiastes 10:4 ESV)  In other words, we are to calm our thoughts from the tension that has come over us and allow real peace to surround us.  If someone are something else has angered us, do not leave that place of calmness that God has brought you to.  That statement of mind of calmness is your home.  Now remain at peace there.  The devil wants you to get angry, he wants you to yell and scream, throw  things, break things, curse others out and blame them for all the wrong that is taking place in your life.  When you lose control, you lose your self-respect and then you enter into the pits of hell.  That is where the devil resides and just where he wants you to be as well.  Stay calm, stay focus and stay in control.   The bible tells us that when we find ourselves in this position, this is what we should do, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV).

Let us understand this fact, when your mind is calm, it is at peace, and when it is at peace it is being strengthen in every direction.  When you are at peace, you are then put in a higher level of thought and when you are there you will soon discover you are finding deeper levels of peace and concentration unlike anything you have ever experienced before.

In addition, when you are at this level of concentration, it provides you with an increased level of energy, the power of your mental factors are greatly increased; you will begin to experience a greater memory level, and your ability to study and learn complicated topic’s will greatly be improved, and finally as you go about your daily affairs in life, you will soon discover that you are much more able to handle with greater efficiently the stressful and difficult situations that life throws at you.

Now is the time to make some changes in your life to have that peace and calmness that we all seek to enjoy.  You can do this by beginning daily to practice calming your mind.  When you begin to do so, the calmness that you experience will influence your inner being, your body, your circumstances and the people you meet.  You can now begin to live a fruitful life that will provide you with much joy.  Read and study the many lessons that we teach here daily on this subject and many others and your life will begin to change.

Now listen to God’s last word on this subject.  “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (Ephesians 4:11-16 ESV)

Please return for our next lesson which is title, “CALMNESS OF MIND.”  This lesson is from the book of James Allen.

LIVING FREELY IN TWO WORLDS AT THE SAME MOMENT AND TIME

THE POWER OF THOUGHT

Now let us understand this very important fact, there is a world within each of us—a world of thought and feeling and power; of light and life and beauty and, although invisible, its forces are mighty.

This world that is within us is governed by our mind.  When we discover this world we shall find the solution for every problem, the cause for every effect; and since the world within is subject to our control, and all laws of power and possession are also within our control.

Therefore, our world that is without is a reflection of the world within.  What appears without is what has been found within.  In the world within may be found infinite Wisdom, infinite Power, and infinite Supply of all that is necessary, waiting for enfoldment, development, and expression.  If we recognize these potentialities in the world within they will take form in the world without.

Remember, God created all things, and all things are connected to God, therefore, when we learn that the world that is within, is the world God created for us to discover, learn to live freely in  and enjoy the abundance of fruits He has placed there for each of us. Now watch this video clip and discover your world within.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE

THE THINKER

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE

We encourage you today to examine your thought life and be encouraged.  Know that this day you are a child of the King, and as such you are precious in His sight. Nothing in life is ever promised to be easy, but the joy of it all is being able to experience the pain without feeling the hurt. No pain, no gain. What we come to understand about this life is that God will never put on us more than we can bear. He also promised that He would never leave us are forsake us, and that is one check you can take to the bank and it will forever pay you more than enough dividends to live on for the rest of your earthy life.

I have been there. I have experienced some of what you are now experiencing in your thought life, but today I am encouraging you to remain strong, the devil wants to destroy your mind by taking you down the road of negativity, and if you give him half a chance he will defeat you.

Let me share with you some thoughts I hope that can encourage you and lift you up and fill your heart with peace and joy.

Years ago, I learned an invaluable lesson; whatever we focus on, we become. That simple statement taught me a great deal. Wherever we put our energies or our attention, those things will develop. Another way I like to say it is, “Where the mind goes, the mind follows!”

If I begin to think about ice cream, I will soon find myself in my car pursuing ice cream.  My thought will stir my desires and emotions, and I will make the decision to follow them.

If we focus only on the negative things in our lives, we become negative people. Everything, including our conversation, becomes negative. We soon lose our joy and live miserable lives and it all started with our own thinking.

You might be experiencing some problems in life not realizing that you are creating them yourself by what you’re choosing to think about. I challenge you to think about what you’re thinking about!

You might be discouraged and even depressed and wonder what caused it. Yet if you will examine your thought life, you will find that you are feeding the negative emotions you are feeling. Negative thoughts are fuel for discouragement, depression, and many other unpleasant emotions.

We should choose our thoughts carefully. We can think about what is wrong with our lives or about what is right with them. We can think about what is wrong with all the people we are in relationship with or we see the good and meditate on that. The Bible teaches us to always believe the best. When we do that, it makes our own lives happier and more peaceful.

I have a great life; I have wonderful children and many beautiful loving grand children. I have been blessed and am privileged to be used by God to bless millions of people around the world through the wonderful ministry He has given me. But life isn’t perfect, and if I had allowed the devil to fill my mind with negative thoughts as he once did long ago, I would have been defeated.

I want to focus on God’s grace and give thanks for all the good things in my life. I don’t want to focus on what I don’t have.

An old friend used to quote this saying: “As you wander on through life, brother, whatever may be your goal, keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole.” Too many people focus on what’s not here and what’s not right.

All of this is to say that our thoughts largely determine our destiny. Our thoughts also determine our happiness. Proverbs 23:7 is one of my favorite verses. Thoughts are powerful. They aren’t just words that flow through our minds. So it is very important for us to decide what we will allow to rest inside our minds.

We must not forget that your mind is a battlefield. We must always remember that our adversary will use it in any way he possibly can to trap us. To put it another way, we can’t have a positive life and a negative mind. Our thoughts, our focus are what determine where we end up.

Jesus, our friend and Savior, wants our minds to be filled with positive, beautiful, and healthy thoughts. The more we focus on those things, the more readily we defeat Satan’s attacks.

My Maximized Prayer for you today is this; our heavenly Father, the most high, ever loving and patient God, I ask you to forgive me for focusing my thoughts on things that are not pleasing to you. I pray that you will help me fill my mind with thoughts that are clean and pure and uplifting. Strengthen me in my time of weakness; lift me up so that I may continue to see the beauty in all things that are before me, In Jesus name, Amen.

We have ministered this message to you this day from a position of Peace, power, purpose and prosperity, and it is our hope that it will fill your heart with many great thoughts and much joy.  We bless this to you in the name of Jesus and hope that you will know in your heart that; NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR DREAMS INTO REALITY

THE DREAM LIVES IN HER MIND (BY PASTOR DAVIS)

HOW YOU CAN LOOSE WEIGHT BY CHANGING YOU’RE THINKING

HOW YOU CAN LOOSE WEIGHT BY CHANGING YOU’RE THINKING

In everything we do, note that it is not the physical actions, that create the results, however, it is the mindset we have while doing it. The physical actions themselves are a means by which we channel the energy of intent into physical manifestation. It is the energy of intent which determines the outcome. This secret explains why different people can do the same exact things but get very different results. In truth, Mind is Principle over everything in life that we engage in.

Learning to use your mind power to control your physical body is your key to your weight reduction.  There is no genie in the bottle that is going to help you lose weight.  You can listen to all the commercials, and so call experts tell you about the greatest methods they have discovered that will help you lose weight and you can end up spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars trying to drop those extra pounds, and yes for a short time you might be able to lose a few of those pounds because someone has convinced you that you really could and you yourself has told yourself that you were going to do it this time.

Look around any city and you will see all kinds of gym springing up.  Radio and TV commercials advertising great rates for the first time user, you see some people with great looking bodies coming out of those beautiful places and you say wow, I want to get my body looking like that.  Well guest what, you can get your body into any desired physical condition that you may desire.  And yes, going to the gym will help, but it is not the key to your body becoming physically sculptured.

The first thing you must remember is the word, “Desire” keep this word in the forefront of your mindPray on it, meditate on it, and write it down and all the time ask yourself, what is it that I desire?  Why do I desire it?  When you answer these questions, allow that desire to become a burning desire within you.  So much so, that everywhere you go, and everything that you do, you will feel that burning desire deep within your soul to make a change in your life.  It is that burning desire to make that change that will propel you into action in such a way that you will begin to feel thinner, you will look into the mirror and see yourself at the desired weight loss and sculptured figured you desired for yourself.

The second thing you must remember is the word, Belief.”  You see nothing happens until you can believe within your mind that it can happen.  You can go to the gym and work out daily, take all kinds of diet pills, sign onto all the weight loss programs in the world, but until you believe it in your own mind that you really can lose 10, 20, 50, 100 pounds or any desired amount nothing is going to happen.  The reason so many people become so discussed with their weight loss programs, is that the people do not always tell you the whole truth.  All they care about is getting your money and then you are really left on your own.  Another reason is that a great many of them do not understand the secret to weight loss and therefore how can they really help you when they have not come into the reality of how the power of the minds works.  You must believe it in order to conceive it and then have it.  Set your weight lost goal, set a reasonable time frame in which to achieve it, then believe in your mind that you are going to achieve it and then wow, you would have achieve what everyone has been telling you that could not be done.

The third thing you must remember is the word, “Faith.”  Faith must be your central focus point to keeping you on track towards reaching your desired goal.  Remember what faith is:  “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen(Hebrews 11:1).”  This is not a definition of faith, but it is a description of what faith does when one takes it and truly believes that it will work for them.  This word substance means “essence” or “reality.”  Faith treats things hoped for as reality.  When your reality is centered upon your weight reduction program and you do not allow doubt to enter into your desired goal, the results will be faith in action.  The word “Evidence” means “proof” or “conviction.”  Faith itself proves that what is unseen is real.  Whatever you have fixed in your mind to make happen in reducing your weight to your desired goal, although it may not be seen with the physical eye at this very moment, but the mind’s eye sees it, accepts it, and then begins to execute your request to bring it into reality at your desired date and time.

The fourth thing you must remember is the word, “Intent.”  What is your intent for wanting to lose weight?  What purpose will it serve you?   Your intent must be clear and communicated to your mind through a clear thought process.  Allowing your mind the opportunity to gather unto itself all the necessary forces of energy it needs to transform you into the person you desire to be.  Be certain about what you want and why you want it.  Let your intent become crystal clear in your mind.

The fifth and final point you must remember is the word, “Transform.”  The word transform simply means to change.  You see if you want to lose weight for any reason, there must be a change in your thinking.  Everything begins and ends in the mind.  In order for you to lose weight, you have to think it.  If you want a sculptured body, thinking about how you would look, the clothes you would wear and how others would be attracted to you.  Your mind is an energy field.  It attracts to it the thoughts that are broad cast into it by your very own thoughts.  A negative thought attracts negative thingsPositive thoughts attract positive things.  Therefore if you think eating health foods will help you be healthy and help to reduce your weight, it will do just that.  The law of attraction is at work here.  Weather it is good or bad, your mind will produce the desired results that you ask it to do.  The Bible teaches us to ask, believe and we shall receive.  You were created with the mind of God.  A mind that can create, build up and tear down.  Whatever you want your mind to do, it is there at your command waiting for instructions from you.  You have the power to change whatever circumstances you are now facing.  Nothing in your life is impossible to you.  The transforming from the old to the new begins with you.  It all begins in your mind.  You must change your thinking from the, “I can’t” to the “I can.”  “I can do all things through God who strengths me.”  The weight that I have on now is only temporary.  I can reduce my weight by 50 pounds within the next 10 months by transforming my thinking, executing this formula and excepting nothing less than my own reality.  With that in mind the brand new me is a done deal.

IT IS TIME TO RENEW YOUR MIND

Every day we live provides us with an opportunity to improve ourselves in every way by simply committing to work on ourselves daily in the process of renewing our minds.  The bible teaches us to study to show ourselves approved.  If we would only take the time to follow these few simple guide lines we can overcome many of the difficulties we face in this world daily.  The bible is truly our instruction manual, giving us a complete outline on how we can live and enjoy a healthy life style by simply renewing our minds.  Now listen to how this instruction manual teaches us on the renewing our minds:

Assuming that you have really heard Him and been taught by Him, as [all] Truth is in Jesus [embodied and personified in Him],

Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old un-renewed self], which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;

And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],

And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.  (Ephesians 4:21-24 AMP)

To have a renewed mind is to function in accordance with a new value and belief system.  The conscience houses the values and beliefs that govern our lives.  It is like stacking or storing information on top of information: The more we learn the more is stored.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers. (3 John 1:2 AMP)

Instead let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. (Ephesians 4:23 NLT)

It is clear from the Scriptures that you, as a Believer, are responsible for participating in the transformation process and ongoing maintenance of your thought life.  This is obligatory not optional.

Most people believe that renewing the mind is memorizing Scriptures.  And, thus, they spend hours memorizing verse after verse so that the Bible is always on ready recall.  However, memorizing Scripture and having Scripture govern our thought lives are two different things.  When the Bible speaks of renewing the mind, it is talking about a transformation in our decision making process.  This means changing the fundamental thought patterns and beliefs that are programmed into you.  Yes, programmed into you!

Your soul has five main components: mind, will, imagination, emotions, and intellect.  The soul of a person is what determines the unique personalities and characteristics of the person.  The spirit is the eternal part and will exist after physical death (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Our minds have three components to the mental complex: the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the conscience mind.  These three work together in a dynamic way as our onboard computer to keep our lives on course.

The conscious mind handles the purposeful, conscious thoughts, and day-to-day decisions.  The initial reasoning and logical thinking that require concentration and purposeful thinking are handled by this part of the mental complex.  The subconscious, which is the autopilot of the conscious mind, has the responsibility to carry out automatically the finished work of the conscious Mind.

When the conscious mind has thought through a process and has accepted certain norms and values as truth, from that moment on, the subconscious begins to handle decision making at a level that does not require much conscious thought at all.  Your subconscious accesses your belief and value system and makes certain decisions automatically.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].  (Romans 12:2 AMP)

Now let me close with this final thought for each one of you who have taken the time to read this entire lesson and the many lessons we teach here daily, “Think globally, and work locally.  Looking beyond ourselves in the real and on line world, to reach out to others who might be in need, for we all are truly our Brothers Keeper, may the grace of God abide in you now and forever, in Jesus name, Amen.

YOU MUST OVERCOME FEAR TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

YOU MUST OVERCOME FEAR TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

This is one of the most fearful times in our nation’s recent history. How we respond to it, both individually and collectively, may determine the outcome.  However we view it, we must overcome our fears in order that we achieve the success God has already provided for us.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control(2 Timothy 1:7 AMP)

The coping behaviors we are seeing – avoidance, denial, being reactive, staying busy – are somewhat predictable, as are the feelings produced – anxiety, anger. What’s causing such reactions, to a large degree, are unanswered questions such as these: Are we in this together, or is it everyone for themselves? Will we ever find our way out of this, and if so, how long will it take?

Among the unfortunate psychological side effects of a crisis like this is (1). People feeling isolated and believing that they having to work out their work and financial issues on their own because everyone else is preoccupied;  (2). A loss of confidence in our economic and political institutions, and leadership of all kinds, and finally (3). A resulting loss of self-confidence, and even depression as people cope with the crisis in different ways.

We can feel powerlessness and hopeless, which produces a cycle of futility that can spiral downward. People bring all of this baggage to work, where it can show up in a lot of ways – cheerful denial, tense conversations, angry conflicts, misperceptions and miscommunication, and even distrust.

We do have a choice? The choice at home or at work is very simple: Let the fear control your reactions, or embrace the fear. At a time like this, we could easily go negative or reactive, with predictable results. We could go naively positive and be viewed as out of touch. We could bury our heads in the sands of busyness in the hopes the crisis will go away. But one thing is clear, this is one set of crises from which we can run but definitely not hide.

If we are not going to run and hide but embrace this fear, what do you need to do?

Stay grounded: Find your own ground first, where you are your true, authentic self – what truly matters to you, your core values, your mission in your work. Find a quiet place to reflect on what is true vs. what is perceived. From reflection comes discernment, and with discernment comes perspective and a more positive attitude.

Lead with compassion: This is a time to lead from the heart rather than the head. The work force needs reassurance, information, perspective and a chance to be heard. Over-communicate. Create opportunities for people to talk about their concerns. The worst thing that can happen is that we act like nothing is going on – and then we get what we get.

Maintain a realistic optimism: Practicing optimism in the face of the daily reports of Armageddon is not exactly easy. But optimism creates its own energy. It’s easier if we’re grounded daily, which gives us perspective. And with a positive attitude, we can avoid overreacting and actually create an environment in which we are looking for creative solutions.

Support each other: It’s about relationships. Everyone at work is going through the same stuff. Most people do not want to feel isolated or alone during times like these. Create opportunities for people to talk about their concerns and how they are problem-solving. In mutual support and communication, the work force will discover a new sense of community.

Go with the energy: What you resist persists. The more we resist engaging our fears, the worse they become. Go with the energy that is generated when people can have an honest conversation about the realities of how this economy is impacting work life. Once the dialogue is opened up, people will move from their concerns to solutions – and support for each other. This is the energy of true collaboration.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said in his inauguration address in 1933 that “we have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” His words were meant to reassure a struggling people at the height of the Great Depression – the most difficult economic times this nation has faced in at least 100 years. It is a time for us to be authentic and truthful about our workplace challenges. It is a time to engage each other. It is a time to move beyond our fears to achieve success – together.

HOW WE CAN STAY CONNECTED TO THE POWER SOURCE

HOW WE CAN STAY CONNECTED TO THE POWER SOURCE

God says, we can live in this world, but we do not have to be of this world. For this world is not our home.  We are only temporary inhabitants of this world.  This world is to be our training ground for us to live in the eternity.  Therefore, we must keep our minds centered on God, who is the one and only power source that provides all power to this world.  We may think just because we can enter into our houses, and flip a switch on the wall and our lights come on, place the key in the ignition of our automobiles, turn the key and it starts right up, that we are receiving the power for all this to happen directly from the people whom we paid our money too, but this is really not the case if we think deeply on where our energy supply originates from.

As Believers, we were given a constant source of spiritual power that we can connect too, simply by taking our minds on a journey and keeping it connected to God at all times, in order to keep our batteries charge.  Paul tells us in Philippians 2:5 these words, “5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (KJV) by keeping our minds stayed on Jesus will help strengthen us in ways that we could never imagine at any other time.

However, we must do our part to make sure our batteries are able to stay fully charged at all times.  In order to do so a transformation must take place in our minds.  Our thinking must be centered on the spiritual power source and not relying on the physical power sources of this world.

Now listen to how the scripture describes it, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2-3 KJV)

You see, your mind is the power station that supplies all the electricity to your physical body that will help you transform it into a truly beautiful living sacrifice.  You must work daily to keep your bodies physical fit and your minds spiritual renewed.  Always renewing your mind, by going to the main power source in prayer, and seeking the blessings and guidance from the one source that knows all things.

Therefore as we journey each day through the jungles of this earth, let it be a reminder for us not to store our treasures up on this earth for they can be stolen or rote away.  Simply put, the treasures we have here in this earth is not connected to the main power source.  For if, we depend upon man for our primary source of energy it will soon disappear.  A prime example of what I am talking about is this.  If we would only look at our oil, gas, and other nature resources, we can see that with man in charge, prices for these nature resources are skyrocketing every day.

In addition, to some degree, a great number of our people are suffering because they do not have sufficient funds to purchase what God has provided so freely for all his people.  The people or finding it difficult to make ends meet, and now they are becoming discouraged.  Some are just dropping out, some are committing suicide, and others develop a very negative attitude and then begin to blame all of their troubles on someone else. Then they begin to ask, why me?  Why do I have such difficult time?  I treat my fellow man with the up most respect, I go to church every Sunday, I pay my tithes, and I am a respectful person in the community and try my level best to do what’s right, but yet I am having it so hard.

When you are living in this world and you feel that the world has control of you, your thinking is not too far from the truth.  The problem that we have as we journey through our temporary home is that we forget the calling that God placed upon our lives.

We begin to live in this world as though it is our permanent home.  We begin to honor the things of man, rather than the things of God.  We forget the mission that God has called us into.  For the life that we are living is not about us, it is about God.  Then you will ask a question, a question that so many of us always ponder.

If I am going to spend all of my time doing the Lord’s work, how am I going to be in a position to pay my house note or rent, pay my car note, put food on the table, cloth my children, pay my kids college tuition. How am I going to be in a position to meet my financial obligations?  These questions or truly legitimate questions when your mind is consumed about the things of the world, but as you ponder these questions, don’t ever forget to ask the real question, and that is, where does the power sources that all the things this world operate on, come from?  Who is the one person that supplies the world of all its power?

When we want to watch a T.V. program, the T.V. must first be plugged into a power outlet source, once we plug the T.V. into the outlet we then can push the power button and then turn on the T.V., proving we have paid our utility bills.  We therefore purchase our power from a power source that is provided by man.  By paying our utility bills, this allows us to stay connected to our main power supplier.  If we do not pay, we will be disconnected from the main power supplier.  What has become lost in our worldly thinking is who supplies the energy to the utility companies that we purchase for our individual use.

When we stop and think about the sun, moon, wind, rain, rivers, streams, lakes and the oceans.  We then realize that all of these are natural resources, and each one of these are connected to the main power supply unit.  Therefore, in order for you and I to live in this temporary home of ours, we must get reconnected to the main power supply and then stay connected to that main source of energy, because without it, we will continue to stumble through the obstacles in this world and be very disappointed when things don’t go our way.

In order for us to stay fully connected to God’s power source we need to spend time with Him, be in prayer at all times, reading His Word, confessing our sins keeps us plugged in.  God is our supply line for all our needs here on this earth.  Keep your mind stayed on Him and He will never put on you more than you can bare.  He will never leave you are fail you.  Stay focus on the prize.  Jesus is your victory.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR IMAGINATION ON AN UNIMAGINABLE JOURNEY

HOW TO TAKE YOUR IMAGINATION ON AN UNIMAGINABLE JOURNEY

By using your imagination, and daily taking it on an unimaginable journey, you will quickly discover that your day is becoming much more exciting and interesting. You will find yourself more motivated and happy. In the height of their journey, we discovered that most adults grew out of their imagination; therefore, they became more easily stressed out. By learning to take control of your imagination and by expanding it, you will be feeling much more calm and carefree.

Now let us begin this journey by providing you with a working definition of the word IMAGINATION.  Imagination is also called the faculty of imagining, it is the ability of forming mental images, sensations and concepts, in a moment when they are not perceived through sight, hearing or other senses. Imagination is the work of the mind that helps create.

Imagination helps provide meaning to experience and understanding to knowledge; it is a fundamental facility through which people make sense of the world, and it also plays a key role in the learning process.

A basic training for your imagination is listening to storytelling (narrative), in which the exactness of the chosen words is the fundamental factor to “evoke worlds.”

It is accepted as the innate ability and process of inventing partial or complete personal realms within the mind from elements derived from sense perceptions of the shared world. The term is technically used in psychology for the process of reviving in the mindpercepts of objects formerly given in sense perception. Since this use of the term conflicts with that of ordinary language, some psychologists have preferred to describe this process as imaging or imagery or to speak of it as “reproductive” as opposed to “productive” or “constructive” imagination. Imagined images are seen with the mind’s eye.”

Imagination can also be expressed through stories such as fairy tales or fantasies. Most famous inventions or entertainment products were created from the inspiration of someone’s imagination.

The human imagination has given rise to all sorts of aspects of culture and society which define who we are – art, literature, science, religion, almost all human endeavors is underpinned by imagination.

Your IMAGINATION represents the power that God has invested in you.  It is now time to stir up the GIFT of GOD that is in you and become the person God has created you to be.  Through your imagination, you can touch and express the inspiration of the Infinite.  You are a creative genius, but only when you learn how to use the most important tool that you have in your arsenal, “YOUR IMAGINATION,’’ to develop it into the power house it was meant to be.

The ability to simulate has allowed us to develop all the technology we have today. Starting with flint axes – if someone had not imagined all the things he or she may be able to do with a sharp piece of stone, nobody would have invented one. The same is true of all technology, and all science. It’s all about imagining ‘what might happen if…’.

In Aristotle, the imagination bridges the gap between “images” and “ideas,” implying that rational thought takes place in the form of images, and are stored and combined in the imagination.  Thus, imagination is implied as an actual space or medium in the individual’s mind, and in this space, it has a power to combine images and ideas to do the work of reason.

Your IMAGINATION enlarges your vision, stretches your mind, and challenges the impossible.  Without imagination, your thought process comes to a halt!  When you learn how to awaken your imagination through the driving power of your curiosity and discontent, it will provide you with such great power that you never image you had within you before.

You can begin to light up your imagination by stoking your mental fires through the senses—eyes, ears, nose, muscles, skin.  You spur your imagination by giving it abundant data with which to work.

You take time for dreams and fantasy, knowing that only as you become as open and receptive as a little child, shall you enter the Kingdom of Ideas.  When all of this begins to come into your ream of reality, you will rub shoulders with men and women watching for the creative sparks that generate new concepts and approaches.

By taking the time to stroke your imagination, you learn from that great master of imagination Thomas Alva Edison, who when asked the secret of his inventive genius replied, “I listen from within.”

You learn how to use your imagination to look at everything with fresh eyes, as though you had just come forth from a dark tunnel into the light of day.  Your imagination becomes for you a magic lamp with which to explore the darkness of the unknown that you may chart new paths to old goals.  You recognize the reality of facts, but you use your imagination to penetrate beneath them and to project your thought beyond them in your search for creative answers to problems.

Now finally, in the words of Shakespeare, “your imagination gives to airy nothing a local habitation and a name.”  You reach into the heavens to grasp an idea, and then you bring it down to earth and make it work.  Your imagination is your friend, now become friends with your imagination and make it work for you.  Learn to work smarter and not harder.  Become a creative genius by learning to use your imagination properly. Go where no man has ever dared to go before.  You are now the master of your own destination, dare to live the life God has blessed you with, by awaken the genius that lies asleep and is yearning to come forth and take you beyond the realms of your now limited thought process.  Your imagination is your key that will unlock the door to your now limited powers and will propel you to new heights that were unimaginable before.  “NOW USE IT!”

How the conscious and subconscious mind operate to keep you healthy

Our minds, which includes the conscious and subconscious mind is under the direct control of God, and God never makes a mistake when it comes to the physical healing of our bodies.  God is telling us it is now time to transform our thinking, allow new ideals to be awaken in our minds in such a way that our minds will begin to create the necessary healing that will make our bodies whole again and expectable to Christ.

Now listen to how the Lord appeals to us, He says,  1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”  (Romans 12:1-2 AMP)

When God created man in his own image and likeness, he created a perfect individual that could operate on its own individual systems, but that will always be connected to the one present in the universe that sustains all life, that is the creator himself.  He gave man a body, a mind and a soul.  The body was to house the mind and soul of man which would operate to take care of the man needs.  The conscious mind of man was put in charge of the subconscious mind.  Our mind is so designed that it prepares for us the most important foundations of cognition, whilst we have not the slightest apprehension of the modus operandi.

The subconscious soul, like a benevolent stranger, works and makes provision for our benefit, pouring only the mature fruit into our lap; thus ultimate analysis of thought processes shows that the subconscious is the theatre of the most important mental phenomena.

The value of the subconscious is enormous; it inspires us, it warns us; it furnishes us with names, facts, and scenes from the storehouse of memory.  It directs our thoughts, tastes, and accomplishes tasks so intricate that no conscious mind, even if it had the power, has the capacity for.

We can walk at will; we can raise the arm whenever we choose to do so; we can give our attention through eye or ear to any subject at pleasure.  On the other hand, we cannot stop our heart beats or the circulation of the blood, nor the growth of stature, nor the formation of nerve and muscle tissue, nor the building of the bones, nor many other important vital processes.

If we compare these two sets of action, the one decreed by the will of the moment, and the other proceeding in majestic, rhythmic course, subject to no vacillation, but constant at every moment, we stand in awe of the latter, and ask to have mystery explained.  We see at once that these are the vital processes of our physical life, and we cannot avoid the inference that these all important functions are designedly withdrawn from the domain of our outward will with its variations and transitions, and placed under the direction of a permanent and dependable power within us.

Of these two powers, the outward and changeable has been termed the Conscious Mind,” or the “Objective Mind” (dealing with outward objects).  The interior power is called the Subconscious Mind,” or the “Subjective Mind,” and besides its work on the mental plane it controls the regular functions which make physical life possible.

The subconscious mind never sleeps, never rests, any more than does your heart, or your blood.  It has been found that by plainly stating to the subconscious mind certain specific things to be accomplished, forces are set in operation that lead to the result desired.  Here, then, is a source of power which places us in touch with the God who never sleeps or slumbers. You can now clearly see that the power to heal your physical body and transform you into a brand new work of art is in your control.  By suggesting to your subconscious mind the healing that you require for your body is only a thought away, now let the healing begin.  Use the power God has placed in your hand to heal your wounded body.

Unlimited Potential of the Human Mind

WHAT IS THE MIND?

Our mind is a complex instrument that God has created within us to guide us to a higher level of learning and giving us the power to go where no man has ever gone before.  It is a powerful tool, that we will always use, to live and explore the creation of our thought process, and just having the knowledge that it is given to us freely to use at our own free will is an awesome vision.

Therefore, in order to provide you with greater knowledge of how to live a healthier life through our teaching on Health and Healing your physical body using your own mind power, we felt it necessary to give you an explanation of WHAT IS THE MIND.

The Encyclopedia say that the concept of mind is understood in many different ways by many different traditions, ranging from panpsychism and animism to traditional and organized religious views, as well as secular and materialist philosophies. Most agree that minds are constituted by conscious experience and intelligent thought.

Attributes of the mind include perceptionreasonimagination, memoryemotionattentionfree-will and a capacity for communication. A rich set of unconscious processes are also included in many modern characterizations of mind.

Theories of mind and its function are numerous. Earliest recorded speculations are from the likes of Zoroasterthe BuddhaPlatoAristotle, and other ancient GreekIndian and, later, Islamic and medieval European philosophers. Pre-modern understandings of the mind, such as the neoplatonic nous saw it as an aspect of the soul, in the sense of being both divine and immortal, linking human thinking with the un-changing ordering principle of the cosmos itself.

Which attributes make up the mind is much debated. Some psychologists argue that only the “higher” intellectual functions constitute mind, particularly reason and memory. In this view the emotions—lovehatefearjoy—are more primitive or subjective in nature and should be seen as different from the mind as such. Others argue that various rational and emotional states cannot be so separated, that they are of the same nature and origin, and should therefore be considered all part of what we call the mind.

In popular usage mind is frequently synonymous with thought: the private conversation with ourselves that we carry on “inside our heads.” Thus we “make up our minds,” “change our minds” or are “of two minds” about something. One of the key attributes of the mind in this sense is that it is a private sphere to which no one but the owner has access. No one else can “know our mind.” They can only interpret what we consciously or unconsciously communicate.

The mind is generally synonymous with thought. After all, people do ‘make up their minds,’ ‘change their minds’ or are ‘in two minds’ about something. Surely, though, the mind is more than the ability to think. So, then, WHAT IS THE MIND? What does it do? Is it different from the brain – or are they one and the same? These questions keep many neuroscientists’ minds busy, as they attempt to find the exact answers to these ‘mind boggling’ questions.

More than 4,000 years ago, Egyptians considered the brain worthless, believing the heart contained the soul and the mind. This ancient belief lives on in the English language: to route learn something is to ‘learn it by heart’; to have lost a loved one is to suffer ‘ a broken heart’ and to think of someone fondly is ‘to be in one’s heart’.

About 2 000 years later, a Greek philosopher was the first to believe that consciousness arose in the brain. Hippocrates was of the same mind, “It is the brain that is the messenger to the understanding [and] the brain interprets the understanding.” These, however, were unconfirmed theories.

Plato and other Greek Philosophers believed that the soul [mind] was immortal, surviving the death of the body. Years later, in the 1620s, mathematician and philosopher Rene Descartes, in his dissections of the human brain, saw no physical soul in the body, and thus concluded the soul [mind] as noncorporeal: operating within the machine, but not part of it – the ‘ghost in the machine’ as it was described by Philosopher Gilbert Ryle in 1947. Eastern religions, namely Hinduism and Buddhism, also carry this belief to this day.

Therefore, in trying to answer the question of how can something of no substance – be it the sense of self, the mind or the soul – can exist in a physical structure (brain or body), the theory of dualism was born. That is, the mind is separate from the brain – independent in existence and nonspatial in substance. The dualism concept is also evident, although subtly, in modern science: neurologists treat disorders of the brain, and psychiatrists and psychologists treat disorders of the mind.

The following was Extracted from the book Transform Your Life by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Some people think that the mind is the brain or some other part or function of the body, but this is incorrect. The brain is a physical object that can be seen with the eyes and that can be photographed or operated on in surgery.

The mind, on the other hand, is not a physical object. It cannot be seen with the eyes, nor can it be photographed or repaired by surgery. The brain, therefore, is not the mind but simply part of the body.

There is nothing within the body that can be identified as being our mind because our body and mind are different entities. For example, sometimes when our body is relaxed and immobile, our mind can be very busy, darting from one object to another. This indicates that our body and mind are not the same entity.

In Buddhist scriptures, our body is compared to a guest house and our mind to a guest dwelling within it. When we die, our mind leaves our body and goes to the next life, just like a guest leaving a guest house and going somewhere else.

If the mind is not the brain, nor any other part of the body, what is it? It is a formless continuum that functions to perceive and understand objects. Because the mind is formless, or non-physical, by nature, it is not obstructed by physical objects.

It is very important to be able to distinguish disturbed states of mind from peaceful states. As explained in the previous chapter, states of mind that disturb our inner peace, such as anger, jealousy, and desirous attachment, are called ‘delusions’; and these are the principal causes of all our suffering.

We may think that our suffering is caused by other people, by poor material conditions, or by society, but in reality it all comes from our own deluded states of mind. The essence of spiritual practice is to reduce and eventually to eradicate altogether our delusions, and to replace them with permanent inner peace. This is the real meaning of our human life.

The essential point of understanding the mind is that liberation from suffering cannot be found outside the mind. Permanent liberation can be found only by purifying the mind. Therefore, if we want to become free from problems and attain lasting peace and happiness we need to increase our knowledge and understanding of the mind.

HEALTH AND HEALING THROUGH THE POWER OF THE MIND

Personification of knowledge (Greek Επιστημη, ...

PERSONIFICATION OF KNOWLEDGE

HOW YOU CAN HARVEST THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE TO BRING HEALING TO YOUR PHYSICAL BODY

Today, we will begin an in-depth study on healing the physical body, providing you with the necessary tools that you can use to manifest healing that will enable you to enjoy a healthier life style. I do this because God said, “it’s time for a change, and my people are suffering because of a lack of VISION in their life style.”  Instead of my people enjoying the benefits of a healthier life, their physical bodies are rapidly decaying due to the lack of KNOWLEDGE of how to bring about the necessary changes that will provide them with a healthier physical body.  God said to me to tell my people this, “ 1ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!(A 2For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you. (Isaiah 60:1-2 AMP).  God wants you to take a stand against the evil spirits that have help to put your physical bodies on the road to decay.   He wants you to be made complete again, because your natural state is wellness, and the primary manifestation of life and how you may get in touch with it, is what I will now attempt to explain to you.

Now let us begin with knowledge, which is of priceless value, because by applying knowledge we can make our future what we wish it to be.  When we realize that our present character, our present environment, our present ability, our present physical condition are all the result of past methods of thinking, we shall begin to have some conception of the value of knowledge.

If the state of our health is not all that could be desired, let us examine our method of thinking, let us remember that every thought produces an impression on the mind; every impression is a seed which will sink into the subconscious and form a tendency. The tendency will be to attract other similar thoughts and before we know it we shall have a crop which must be harvested.

If these thoughts contain disease germs, the harvest will be sickness, decay, weakness, and failure; the question is, what are we thinking, what are we creating, what is the harvest to be?

James Allen wrote in his book, “Mind is the Master,” these words.  “Even physical conditions are largely determined by mental states, and to this truth the scientific world is rapidly being drawn.  The old, materialistic belief that a man is what his body makes him is rapidly passing away, and is being replaced by the inspiring belief that man is superior to his body, and that his body is what he makes it by the power of thought.  Men everywhere are ceasing to believe that a man is despairing because he is dyspeptic, and are coming to understand that he is dyspeptic because he is despairing, and in the near future, the fact that all disease has its origin in the mind will become common knowledge.

There is no evil in the universe but has its root and origin in the mind, and sin, sickness, sorrow, and affliction do not, in reality, belong to the universal order, are not inherent in the nature of things, but are the direct outcome of our ignorance of the right relations of things.

According to tradition, there once lived, in India, a school of philosophers who led a life of such absolute purity and simplicity that they commonly reached the age of one hundred and fifty years, and to fall sick was looked upon by them as an unpardonable disgrace, for it was considered to indicate a violation of law.

The sooner we realize and acknowledge that sickness, far from being the arbitrary visitation of an offended God, or the test of an unwise Providence, is the result of our own error or sin, the sooner shall we enter upon the highway of health?  Disease comes to those who attract it, to those whose minds and bodies are receptive to it, and flee from those whose strong, pure, and positive thought-sphere generates healing and life-giving currents.

If you are given to anger, worry, jealousy, greed, or any other inharmonious state of mind, and expect perfect physical health, you are expecting the impossible, for you are continually sowing the seeds of disease in your mind.  Such conditions of mind are carefully shunned by the wise man, for he knows them to be far more dangerous than a bad drain or an infected house.

If you would be free from all physical aches and pains, and would enjoy perfect physical harmony, then put your mind in order, and harmonize your thoughts.  Think joyful thoughts; think loving thoughts; let the elixir of goodwill course through your veins, and you will need no other medicine.  Put away your jealousies, your suspicions, your worries, your hatreds, your selfish indulgences, and you will put away your dyspepsia, your biliousness, your nervousness and aching joints.  If you will persist in clinging to these debilitating and demoralizing habits of mind, then do not complain when your body is laid low with sickness.”  From James Allen, “The secret of health, success, and power.” Page 30

CHOOSE WELL YOUR WORDS

Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of th...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN THE 16th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

The dictionary is full of words.  It is how words are used that makes the big difference.  Words can lift us into heaven or lower us into hell…  ”Good words anoint a man, ill words kill a man,” wrote John Florio.

Words sung in a lullaby can put a babe to sleep; words of hatred and passion can arouse a mob to violence.

Words have both the explosive power of a nuclear bomb and the soothing effect of oil on troubled waters.  They can start a war or they can keep the peace.

Your knowledge of words is to use them creatively; to select and arrange them to inspire the mind, stir the heart, lift the spirit…

Words of encouragement fan the spark of genius into the flame of achievement.  Legend tells us that Lincoln’s dying mother called her small son to her bedside and whispered, “Be somebody, Abe!”

Words are magnets that draw back to us the thoughts they express.  ”Beware, beware!” warned the Hindu mystic.  ”What goes forth from you will come back to you.”

Words are the pegs on which we hang creative ideas.  We must put our dreams into eloquent words that others may be persuaded to help us build them into realities.  This proverb of Solomon says it well:  ”A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”

Words of faith, hope and courage lift men upward.  Negative words drag men downward.  ”Nerve us up with incessant affirmatives,” counseled Emerson; “don’t waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.  When that is spoken which has a right to be spoken, the chatter and the criticism will stop.”

Words are symbols of man’s finest qualities.  Words such as valiant, radiant, triumphant, vibrant, heroic… These are words to live by!

Words are a dynamic force for changing men and nations.  Words of power burst in man’s mind with a great light, to illuminate his thoughts and show him the way.

Choose well your words!  They will go marching down the years in the lives you touch!

UNDERSTANDING THE TRUTH OF GOD’S REASONING

Plato's idea of perception

PLATO'S IDEA OF PERCEPTION (UNDERSTANDING IS YOUR KEY)

UNDERSTANDING THE TRUTH OF GOD’S REASONING

Sometimes in our lives, we find it difficult to except the truth of reasoning, even though it is staring us right in the face.  We make up all sorts of excuses to say the reality of a thing is not reality only because we lack the knowledge and understanding.  However, God has created all things perfectly by His own reasoning and in His own time.  Therefore, who are we to question what is, is?  God commands us to remove all doubt from our minds, and understand the things of the universe, and then perhaps we can develop the wisdom and knowledge to discern why the reality of God’s reasoning is what it is. Now listen to what the Bible tells us to do, it says, “Get skillful and godly Wisdomget understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation); do not forget and do not turn back from the words of my mouth.” (Proverbs 4:4-6 AMP)

Now when you take the time to get a clear understanding of a thing, it will bring you face to face with truth.  The Bible says’ in John 8:32, know the truth and the truth will set you free.  Now free your mind and allow the truth of this teaching to empower you with the knowledge that can lift you up on the wings of an eagle and allow you to see clearly, the awesome power of God by showing you the real power of faith and reasoning.

Some of us have the idea that faith and reasoning are in conflict with each other. They think that if you have reason, you do not need faith, and if you go by faith, you cannot go by reasoning. This paradox has caused the biggest problems in all religion and spirituality. The truth is that faith and reason are the same. In order to have faith about something, you need to know it as true. You cannot know something as true unless you have a reason for it to be so. Faith is reason and reason is faith.

All truths are ideas. If you knew everything there is to know about an idea, you would no longer need to “have faith” in it. You just know it as reality. Faith knows. To know a thing is to be aware of it. It is all about awareness, the more you have it, the more faith you have. If you want to know something, you have to understand everything there is to understand about it. You have to be able to explain everything about it. The more reasons you discover, the more truth you realize.

The way to truth is the way of understanding. Understanding alone will solve all our problems. Understanding the problem dissolves the problem. Once we understand a problem, it is no longer a problem. All that is left is to act out the solution. A problem is never without a solution; otherwise, it would not be a problem.

Therefore, all problems have their corresponding solutions. Understanding is the key to resolving everything. To understand is to reason. You have to reason all the way to all truth.

Everything in the universe is consciousness. For something to be realized, it has to be perceived. Until we are able to perceive a thing, it is not real to us. It would be real to the one who perceives it. The more we are able to perceive, the more conscious we become. Consciousness is what we are, and the more we expand our consciousness with perception, the more we expand our being. The more our awareness increases, the greater our reality will be until it matches the reality of the whole.

Understanding brings life to those that have it. When you deal with things from a state of awareness, you become a cause because you act with freewill. When you deal with things from a state of ignorance, you become an effect because you act with unconscious choice.

Awareness allows your mind to be calm. Then you are free to choose reality, whereas ignorance causes you to be unstable and moved by impulses. He that deviates out of the way of understanding ends up in the congregation of the dead.

The subconscious mind does not differentiate between an imagined experience and a physically experienced one. To know something is to have an experience of it. The more you experience something whether physically or mentally, the more you know it in consciousness. You can always experience a thing from a place of awareness or a place of ignorance. Learning with awareness brings enjoyment and freedom whereas learning with ignorance brings pain and suffering. The difference between learning with awareness and learning with ignorance depends on the intent.

When you go through every experience with the intent to understand, you are resonating with awareness and your consciousness will be open to perceiving as much as you can about it. When you seek to understand, you can arrive at the right reasons, or else you would reason wrongly from lower consciousness and mishandle the situation because you are not seeing what is out of your perception.

Incline your ear unto understanding. Seek to know the reason of a thing. Seek to know all the reasons there are to know about it. Open your heart to be understanding so that you may receive the truth of a matter and not block it out of perception. You need understanding in order to do what is right.

Understanding gives us strength because it makes us bigger than our situations. Knowing all the explanations and reasons of a thing allows you to see it in a scientific and definite way. Faith is having certainty.

Evolution of science, knowledge and consciousness is evolution of faith.

When you know everything from a position of science, there are no more doubts, because now, everything is understood through the universal laws that never change. You know absolute reality to the fullest degree. In any situation where total understanding appears to be unattainable in a scientific way, it means the science is incomplete.

True science is perfect in reasoning and operates from a position of total perception. Total faith and total science are the same. It is all awareness of truth.

Faith comes by hearing which means perception, and perception by the Word of God. The Word is Logos, which means Reason. Reason or awareness directs your perception and determines your knowing.

To know as much of the Word of God is to know as much reason as possible. All wisdom, understanding and knowledge are for you to be convinced about the truth because you are aware of all the reasons that define it. To have absolute faith is to be totally convinced about the truth.

Reason or logic is what runs the entire universe. You need as much reasons as possible to do well.  Reason is what causes others to act and it determines how they act. The programming logic runs the program. If you want to move yourself or others to take a certain action, give as much reason as possible whether logical or emotional, conscious or subtle to persuade, direct and motivate them. Reason can command an entire army to war or it can compel all nations to peace and harmony.

God himself has perfect reasoning and total understanding of all there is. When we are lacking awareness about something but are clearly guided by him in a certain area, that is when we should trust in God with all our heart and not lean towards our limited understanding. God’s reason is the higher reasoning compared to ours. To reason against reason is treason. However, God still wants us to grow in awareness and understanding so that we may reach his level of reasoning and be of one mind with him.

THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE LIES IN THE UNIVERSE

DAVIS MIND REALITY

Davis Mind Reality teaching is not for every student.  Every student must come to the realization that His existing lies in the one.  The one is not separate from the whole.  The Universe is the one in which all exist from.  Therefore, we can never live separate from the Universe. To understand Davis Mind Reality Teaching I must describe it in this manner.  It is like a snake—it is dangerous.  There is a sutra that describes how being caught in the teachings is exactly like being bitten by a snake that you are trying to catch.  In the sutra, Davis Mind Reality says that the best way to catch a snake is to use a forked stick to hold the head of the snake so you can grasp the snake behind its head so you cannot be harmed.  If you try to grasp the snake with your hand alone, you will be bitten.  Studying the teachings is the same.  An intelligent person will not grasp onto ideas and notions and mistake them for reality.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s begin this discussion of the collective and the individual nature of the human being, and the power of his knowledge.  First, let us understand that every phenomenon has both a collective and an individual nature, that provides him with power and knowledge.  Just as the one and the many have to work, together to produce something, so the individual and the collective depend on each other to develop and transform.  We have to go beyond such ideas as same and different, individual and collective.  Now if we can move our thinking beyond the idea of birth and death, one and many, coming and going, permanence and annihilation, we can begin to see how God produce life into the universe as the whole of everything.

Birth is an idea that means something arises from nothing.  If we observe deeply, we see that things are not like that.  Something cannot arise from nothing.  We already existed before our birth, although in a different form.  Clouds are the past life of rain.  Rain is a continuation of the clouds.  When energy becomes matter; that is just a continuation, It is not that matter has been produced wholesale out of nothingness.  The laws of physics and the teachings of Davis Mind Reality agree that something cannot be produced from nothing.

In the same way, something cannot become nothing; it cannot completely disappear and cease to exist.  When we burn a piece of paper, the paper does not cease to exist; it becomes heat, ashes, and smoke.  Heat penetrates the cosmos.  Smoke and other gases rise into the air and form clouds, which give rise to rain.  Ashes fall down to the earth and nurture the soil.  Rain and soil are two of the conditions necessary for trees to grow.  Later, the tree may become a piece of paper again.  Looking in this way, we can see that even a piece of paper transcends birth and death.

The ideas of coming and going are also not true.  We say, I came from that place and I am going to this place.  Or we say:  Before I was born I was in another place and after I die I will be someplace else.  But we know from the teachings of interpenetration and interbeing that “here” and “there” are merely concepts, and that every place can be found in every other place.  There is really nowhere to go to or come from in the ultimate dimension.

The idea of permanence means that something goes on existing as it is forever, that it never under goes any change or transformation.  This too is an incorrect idea.  Everything is of the nature to change.  The opposite idea, annihilation, means that when we die, our body and our consciousness cease to exist.  We have already seen how something cannot become nothing.  Our body and consciousness simply change form.

Our mind is like a sword.  It cuts reality into pieces, separate from each other.  However, reality cannot be grasped by our discursive mind—the mind of imagination, discrimination, and discussion.  We have to learn how to touch reality without using our usual patterns of thinking.  If we practice looking into the nature of inter-being of things, we can unlock the door of reality and let go of the notions of same and different, individual and collective. These are ideas that cannot be applied to ultimate reality.

The truth of the matter is that we must learn how to release.  The more you are capable of releasing, the more joyful you become.  You think that this or that is essential for your happiness, but if you let these notions go you will discover that they were really obstacles to your happiness.  There are two kinds of obstacles; obstacles of knowledge and obstacles of afflictions.  If we cling to what we have learned as the absolute truth, we are caught by that knowledge.  For this reason, we have to be very careful about what we know.  It may be an obstacle to our transformation, our happiness.  Acquiring knowledge is like climbing a ladder: in order to step up to a higher rung we have to let go of the rung we are standing on.  If we believe that the step we are standing on is the highest, then we can climb no higher.

The technique of learning in this tradition is always to release, to let go of what we have just learned, of what we have already obtained.  Never believe that what you know is absolute truth.  If you are caught by the knowledge you presently possess, that is the end of your progress.  If scientists cling to what they already know, they will not be able to discover other truths.  They must be able to drop what they know about something the moment they learn something new that contradicts or supersedes it.  On the path of practice, knowledge is an obstacle that must be overcome.  We must be ready to abandon our knowledge at any moment in order to get to a higher level of understanding.  This is very important.

At the first stage of our learning we put to an end both the affliction-obstacle and the knowledge-obstacle.  The knowledge-obstacle occurs more in the realm of the intellect, while the affliction-obstacle is more in the realm of the emotions.  Our envy, hatred, anger, sadness, despair, and anxiety are all obstacles of afflictions.  If our sadness is so great that we feel paralyzed, that is an affliction-obstacle.  If we are depressed, suffering too much, or desiring too much, these are all obstacles to our practice.

Our ignorance and inability to see the truth belong to the knowledge-obstacle, this means that the way we see things is not the way things are.  Our point of view, perception, and learning are all the objects of our knowledge, and these are the things that prevent us from going ahead,  “I already know everything there is to know about that.  I don’t need to learn any more.”  Whatever the value of what our intellect and our insight has attained, we have to abandon it.  If we don’t, we put an end to further progress.  Even though it has some value, our knowledge has become an obstacle.  If we are caught in our knowledge, if we say that our knowledge is absolute truth, we suffer from the knowledge-obstacle.  Those who have knowledge but know that they have to abandon it in order to go further do not suffer from the knowledge-obstacle.

Objects of knowledge are like water that has become ice and prevents the river from flowing.  We need knowledge, but we have to use it intelligently.  When we think that our present knowledge is paramount, our way ahead is blocked.  Our knowledge has become an obstacle.  This way of looking at knowledge is quite special to the Davis Mind Reality Concept.  The Davis Mind Reality teaches that we cannot be attached to anything; we have to abandon even our insight, our understanding, and of course, our knowledge.

Knowledge-obstacles are easier to abolish than affliction-obstacles.  Affliction-obstacles need more time, more practice, to dissolve.  Our anger, misery, and despair are blocks in our store consciousness.  We have to practice touching them deeply with the energy of mindfulness in order to see their roots and transform them.  Solidity is important for our well-being.  When you practice walking meditation, each step you take in mindfulness should help you cultivate a little bit more solidity and freedom.  When craving, anger, or jealousy manifest as mental formations in your mind consciousness, it is like having a fever, it burns.
