Prayer Time:

prayer alter 02

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. (Matthew 6:5-13 ESV)

My brothers and sisters, the hour is now upon us, the Lord has blessed us with his abundant love, now he is calling us into his house of prayer to worship.  The bible says, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” (Psalms 122:1 KJV) Let us lift up our Holy Hands and praise him, praise him, as for me and my family we are going to praise the Lord.  The bible says, ““Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.” (Luke 1:68 ESV)  Glory, glory to God from on high, for He is worthy to be praised.

There is something to learn from this woman

There is something to learn from this woman

I really love reading this old book.  It has so much relevance to our past, present and future. This month I was struggling with wanting to give up, and this old book encouraged me like nothing else could.  Here is the amazing story of a woman who didn’t quit, and as a result I have been encouraged not to quit.

Luke 18 where Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up2He said: In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, Grant me justice against my adversary. 4For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming6And the Lord said, Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

If anyone had a cause to quit, it was this widow woman. Widows were one of the weakest most vulnerable members of society.  Think about the circumstances of this woman.

  • She had a helper that wouldn’t help; He refused (v.4)
  • The judge cared nothing about God or people; (v. 4)
  • Her request for justice lasted some time; a long time; it was a while; (v.4)
  • She was like a stranger in town;
  • She was by herself. No one pleaded with her.

How often do we let our social position stop us?  Here is a woman who had no clout and yet, she did not quit or give up on what she knew she deserved.  Even in the face of a stubborn and unjust judge who was expected to be a legitimate means of help.  Why didn’t the widow woman just give up?

I believe two reasons really sum up why:

  1. This woman refused to be victimized by her status or her problem.
  2. This woman never asked the judge WHY? She just kept coming back!

How often do we let our status or lack thereof determine what we will do and achieve in life.  I understand we live in a world where a good socio-economic status can be the launching pad for success.  But, what about people who have little or nothing to launch from?  What about people who don’t come from the “right” family? What about the people who are smart but don’t have the degrees to show for it? What about those who help others and don’t care about who getting attention for it?  What about, what about, what about? I could go on and on.  Do these people ask why? Or do they keep pushing forward, keep trying, keep helping, keep learning, keep standing.

What do you do when you feel deserving of something that you are denied of, or it’s seemingly out of reach?  Do you quit?  Do you give up?

If this widow woman was able to receive justice from an unjust judge simply by being persistent and bothersome, how much more can you and I receive from God who is a righteous judge?  It’s not our persistent, continual coming to God that causes Him to grant our request, it is our faith.  God is our righteous judge and earth is the only place where we have the opportunity to exercise our faith.

The Gift of giving is Remembering

BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS for they shall be called the sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9; NKJV)

REMEMBERING OTHERS DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON:

christmas 05

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:

The time of year many have anxiously anticipated is upon us, now the process of decision and choice making has begun full forced. It is the time of year in which feasting and celebration are shared within many homes and communities world -wide; therefore, let us enhance the spirit by REMEMBERING OTHERS DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.

There are those who are less fortunate among us that a friendly gesture can bring healing to their soul, for they seek not the material things of this world, but spiritual. Jesus gave each of us a message, a thought to always ponder especially during the holiday season, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God” (Matthew 5:9; NKJV). Where there is disharmony, discord, chaos and greed, the time is now to mend and repair, restore and renew by REMEMBERING OTHERS DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.

Somewhere there is someone that will not hear the words “Joy to the World” or “Silent Night,” because of the sound of war raging in their communities. Somewhere there will be some child that will not experience the happiness of opening gifts with moments of glee. Somewhere someone will spend Christmas alone because they have no family to share it with. The list it seems is endless, but the joy of Christmas is really all about the “Birth” the “Gift of a Savior.” For the scriptures reminds us this way, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.” While REMEMBERING OTHERS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON think on these things for it is from the heart love is freely given.

As the joy and spirit of Christmas continue to unfold, take a moment and reflect on how blessed you truly are, WHILE REMEMBERING OTHERS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON in a very special way.

May you find the gift of peace and contentment as you approach and become participants in this holiday season.

Living in the moment

Living in the moment, it has been given to you, what will you do with it?

You say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such city, spend a year there, buy and sell and make a profit; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow (James: 4: 13-14; NKJV).”  Learn to live in the Moment; You live each day not knowing what tomorrow will bring. You make plans, set goals and live for that moment in time; before you know it, you find yourself so caught up and worrying about tomorrow in which you have very little control. One of the most important things to remember is that the only time you have is where you are in the moment. This is the only moment and time you have, learn to live in this moment, love it, appreciate it and enjoy all that God has set before you in this very moment.

Now set your sights on the things above and be about the business of, “Learning to live in the Moment!”

Preparing for Spiritual Warfare (Lesson 8)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE 006

How prayer can defeat your enemy

Good Morning My Dear Brothers and Sisters; in our lesson this week on “preparing for Spiritual warfare”, we examine for you, “How prayer can defeat your enemy!”  It is so important that we learn how to fight and win this battle using the weapons that God has provided for us and stop trying to use the devil’s own weapon because they are built for him and his evil spirits and they will fail us every time.  So let’s get in the game and learn how to use the most potent weapon in our  warfare and that is the weapon of prayer.

prayer alter 02

The Lord wants each one of us to become Spiritual Fit, preparing our minds as well as our physical bodies to fight and win.  He wants us to be rooted and grounded in his word.  He wants us to stop allowing satin to brain wash us and become totally spiritually fit to serve him.  He stands ready to prepare us for this Spiritual warfare game that is upon us.

Once again, you see that the bible commands us to, “Take

Pastor Davis in Prayer as Zachariah

Pastor Davis in Prayer as Zachariah

thehelmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”  (Ephesians 6:17-18).

You see when you have the word of God in you; God puts the ultimate weapon in your hand to fight the enemy.  The word of God becomes your sword.  Your enemy cannot stand against you in anyway, for God’s word will cut like a two edged sword, cutting to the right and to the left giving you power to defeat the enemy.

Know that you must always be in prayer, for it is through prayer that you have a direct phone line to God.  You can call him up any time.  He stands ready to help you defeat his greatest enemy called satin.  Pray for each other and your prayers shall be heard.  In Luke 6:28, the bible instructs us to, “Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 the bible instructs us to Pray without ceasing.  Having a proper prayer life will guide you successfully through your spiritually fitness.

YOU ARE CALLED BY THE WORD OF GOD
