Letting go of the Past

My dear brothers and sisters, I submit to you that the future holds for each of you great possibilities, but in order for you to see the future you first must let go of the past.  Jesus challenges us to go forward with this profound statement, he says, “If any man puts his hand to the plow and looks back, he is not fit for the Kingdom…”

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able
to swim to a small, desert like island.   The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God.   However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing the first man prayed for was food.  The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit.   The other man’s parcel of land remained barren.  After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife.   The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land.

On the other side of the island, there was nothing.  And the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land.   On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food.   The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him.   However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that his wife and he could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island.

The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island.  He considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming, “Why are you leaving your companion on the island?”    “My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them,” the first man answered.   “His prayers were all unanswered, and so he does not deserve anything”

“You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him.   “He had only one prayer, which I answered.   If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings.”

“Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?

“He prayed that all your prayers be answered.”

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us.

When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you and I!  Now I ask you again, “WHAT BLESSING ARE YOU PRAYING FOR?”

The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life he brings into Light. He was in the world, the world was there through him, and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.

John 1:12-13 MSG

My brothers and sisters, today I encourage you as you prepare yourselves to go into the world and face the most dangerous enemy of all times, that you girdle your entire body and mind up with a mustard seed of faith; and when you do, look the enemy in the eye and tell him,“I BELIEVE TH AT WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE,”  and this moment of trials and tribulations, they to shall pass.  Because I am living in the light and the light is shinning in me and through me.  “I BELIEVE!”

Faith and doubt cannot live in the same house, one are the other is going to rule.  Which do you want to rule over your life?  The cold hard choice we make concerning these two very important people in our lives will determine our destiny.  We cannot serve two masters that on this day, which we are going to serve, and then begin to live our lives accordingly?

Now my brothers and sisters I want you to listen and understand this very important story of Zacharias the Priest and how God dealt with him when he doubted the word of God.  You see both Zacharias and his wife were up in age when the angel of the Lord approached him and told him that he and his wife were going to have a baby. And Zacharias expressed all the pent-up doubt in his heart.

But the angel reassured him, “Don’t fear, Zachariah. Your prayer has been heard. Elizabeth, your wife, will bear a son by you. You are to name him John. You’re going to leap like a gazelle for joy, and not only you—many will delight in his birth. He’ll achieve great stature with God.

“He’ll drink neither wine nor beer. He’ll be filled with the Holy Spirit from the moment he leaves his mother’s womb. He will turn many sons and daughters of Israel back to their God. He will herald God’s arrival in the style and strength of Elijah, soften the hearts of parents to children, and kindle devout understanding among hardened skeptics—he’ll get the people ready for God.”

Zachariah said to the angel, “Do you expect me to believe this? I’m an old man and my wife is an old woman.”

This is the exact same way that Abraham expressed himself to God when God told him that he was going to have a son. You see my brothers and sister, Zachariah thinking is the way we think by being in the world. Our thoughts like his not being centered in the Spirit of the Lord and what the Lord can do when we get out of the way and let God have His way.

The angel of the Lord continued by saying, “I am Gabriel, the sentinel of God, sent especially to bring you this glad news. But because you won’t believe me, you’ll be unable to say a word until the day of your son’s birth. Every word I’ve spoken to you will come true on time—God’s time.” (Luke 1:13-20 MSG.

You see my brothers and sisters, because Zacharias had doubted, he would lose the power of speech until the child was born.  Whenever a believer entertains doubts concerning God’s word, he loses his testimony and his song.  Unbelief of the lips, and they remain sealed until faith returns and bursts forth in praise and witness.

Gabriel the angel of the Lord continue to pursue the mission which God had dispatched him on and entered into the space of Mary whom God had blessed and highly favored, and this is what he spoke to her, he begin by saying, “and did you know that your cousin Elizabeth conceived a son, old as she is? Everyone called her barren, and here she is six months pregnant! Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.”

And Mary said,

Yes, I see it all now:
I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve.
Let it be with me36
just as you say.

Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:37-38 MSG)

My brothers and sisters “BELIEVE” that is the lesson the Lord wants us to learn. Believe that with God all things are possible. Stop living your life in doubt, allowing your faith to waiver and  become like the motions of the oceans, always going back and forth.  When you learn to believe, a whole new world of possibilities will open unto you.  “BELIEVE, BELIEVE” my brothers and sisters and you too will receive the favor of the Lord.

TODAY IS A GIFT

TODAY IS A GIFT BUT YOU MUST STAY IN THE RACE:

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:

Scripture reminds you that, the power of God…has saved us and called us with a holy calling, but not according to his own purpose and grace…revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ who abolished death and brought life and immorality to light through the gospel…(2 Timothy 1: 9-10; NKLV). You must therefore endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:3).

We all begin each day in search of something because we have hopes and dreams; when we place all of our cares in the master’s hands we will be able to accomplish what is purposed. From the God who cares more than you can even begin to imagine, today is your gift, yesterday is past, tomorrow is a hope, but the moment you’re experiencing now is yours.

Sharing encouragement, spreading laughter and joy nourishes your own spirit and what you release to the universe comes back to you.

For this day, this moment in time, allow it to be well spent in acts of gratitude and thanksgiving because it is a gift.

As you journey, remember that the day is filled with possibilities, take time to explore those areas of life that encourages growth, strength, and courage, determined to fight the good fight of a soldier well trained in godly living and principles that are sure to bring you in line with all possibilities. TODAY IS A GIFT BUT YOU MUST STAY IN THE RACE!

EMBRACE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER:

WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:

The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile (Psalm: 94:11; NKJV). Futile is described in the dictionary as incapable of producing any useful result: pointless. So why do you waver against the authority in which God relates to your circumstance through his word. There is no one or nothing else that can bring your attention in focus to where you are and where you want to be. By learning to trust God in all that you seek to gain, your goals, dreams, hopes, allow his presence to be your guide, for the Lord knows your thoughts and intentions.

God says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts; nor are your ways my ways” (Isaiah: 55: 8), those words alone are enough to let you know that there comes a time in this life that you need to EMBRACE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER. For he says, “I am the Lord, that is my name, and my glory I will not give to another, nor my praise to carved images.” (Isaiah 42: 8-9) Through- out the scriptures your hearts and spirits should be energized as you live in expectancy of greater things for your life yet to be revealed.

Become uplifted and inspired, start to EMBRACE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER, this is good news. For he says, “New things I declare, before they spring forth, I will tell you of them. Fear not…you are mine (43:1), every one called by my name…created for my glory, I have formed him, yes, I have made him (43:7).”

Lift up your wandering minds and humble yourselves before the Lord, learn to trust him and be obedient to his word, for your life is one of intended purpose. God lets you know that, “I am the last, besides me there is no God.” (44:8). Jesus says, “Come to me…I will give you rest.” (Matthew: 11:28)            EMBRACE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER, it’s well worth the effort.
