My Brothers and Sisters, we enter into the presence of the Lord to Worship Him and Serve Him. Sometimes our hearts are troubled and we find it difficult to understand why we are having to face down our enemies day in and day out, weekend and week out. The stress upon our daily lives seems to be beating us down and sometimes we feel like we want to just give up and let the enemy have his way. But I tell you for a believer, this should never be an option. You should always be able to find enough strength within your FAITH to lift up your heads towards heaven and say, “IN GOD I TRUST!”
David faced a similar situation from his own countrymen, and he turned to the Lord in prayer for God’s gracious help in view of the constant harassment of his pursuers, and this is David’s prayer:
LET US PRAY THIS PRAYER WITH DAVID THIS MORNING:
Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
2 my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
3 When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
5 All day long they injure my cause;
all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They stir up strife, they lurk;
they watch my steps,
as they have waited for my life. AMEN! (Psalm 56:1-6 ESV)
LIFT THE LORD UP IN HIGH PRAISES:
Now put your hands together and open your mouth wide and give the Lord a big shout out of hallelujah praises. When prayer and praises go up, faith breaks out all over the place. David said, whenever I am afraid, “I will trust in you Lord.” This cheerful courage is based on the character of God and on the faithfulness of His promises. He is more powerful than all our foes combined, and He has promised to protect us from harm. Nothing can penetrate the protective hedge which He sets up around us except by His permissive will. This is why we can trust in God without a fear.
My Brothers and Sisters let us be bold in our praises before the Lord, for He is truly worthy. What can mere man do to me, I ask you? If I reason, I might answer, “Plenty.” Man can persecute, injure, maim, shoot, and even kill me. But the fact is that the child of God which I am, and you are, is immortal until his work is done. Also we should understand David’s fearlessness in the light of our Savior’s words.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
My Brothers and Sisters let this be a day of remembrances that the Lord is good all the time, and He will never fail you nor forsake you, therefore, when your enemies come upon you to do harm to you, STAND YOUR GROUND and say out loud, “IN GOD I TRUST!”
This concludes our SATURDAY DEVOTIONAL SERVICE OF PRAYER AND PRAISE IN GOD I TRUST!
