1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Amplified Bible (AMP)
16 Rejoice always and delight in your faith; 17 be unceasing and persistent in prayer;
God wants you to rejoice at all times, when you awaken in the morning, rejoice and be glad that He allowed you the opportunity to awaken. When you place your feet on the floor, rejoice and give thanks for having feet to place on the floor. When you go into your bathroom, look into your mirror and see the reflections of your face, rejoice and thank God for the opportunity of being able to look into the mirror and see that beautiful face staring back at you.
You might be saying to yourself right now, life is too difficult, the pain and heartaches that I am experiencing right now, will not allow me to rejoice. But remember, who it was that woke you up this morning, who it was that created you and place the breath of life in you, who it was that created the universe and everything that is in it. The very fact that you are feeling the way you feel right now is not a reason for you not being able to experience joy and praising God for your blessings, it is an excuse, born out of your own ignorance, lack of knowledge and understanding of who God is, who you are and who you are in God.
Evil things happens to good people, they get knock down, stepped on, spit on, cursed out, told that they are no good; they don’t deserve God’s favor, but a true believer will not allow what others say about them, succumb to the negative talking, negative thinking and evil doers of others. No, because their faith is strong, their will is like steel, they are standing on the word of God, they are believing in what the word has taught them, and when they get knock down, they are going to get right back up and get going again.
Because your faith has awaken you to the reality that you are a child of God, and just because you awaken this morning feeling like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, you realize that this is not the way wants you to live your life. You must make a change, reposition yourself, get back into the game, you have greatness within you, and today you are going to rejoice in hope.
Your faith has shown you that true joy transcends the rolling waves of circumstance. Your tears endured for a night, your heart was heavy when you awaken, but when you opened your eyes, you saw the face of Jesus Christ and heard His calming voice speaking to you these words, saying, my child, I am here today with you, to help you walk through adversity without sinking into debilitating lows and to help you manage prosperity without moving into deceptive highs. The joy of living with me today will keep you always joyful.
Now lift up your hands, open your mouth and give God a shout of praise, Amen!
