Forgiveness Friday Experiencing the power of release

Let your prayers and supplications be made known to God, the One who comforts your soul, body and spirit. Today is a new day, an opportunity for a new beginning; let’s begin it with this prayer:
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV)
When you EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF RELEASE AND RESTORATION THROUGH FORGIVENESS you fine peace of mind; yet, some people find it hard to do so? One thing I’ve determined about life is that at some point we will experience hurt and disappointment. We miss out when we allow those elements to rob us of the beauty of what God has given for us to enjoy. Jesus often spoke about forgiveness; we are reminded, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36 NIV), and there is actually healing in forgiveness.
The main problem is that many of us don’t want to forgive because holding on to grudges, anger and disappointments gives us a sense of power/control over those we’re angry with. For some reason, we feel that if we forgive someone we’re letting them off easy, but the truth is that when you’re able to forgive, you’re releasing, letting go sets you free. By holding on to resentment you create a mental bond to that person you no longer wants to be a part of, it then becomes like a game of chess, locked in.
If someone has done you wrong tell them what they did, why it hurt and then release them, let it go. This can be done by writing a letter or through conversation; once everything is out in the open and the person you’re angry with is willing to make amends, open up with clear thought, seek to gather an understanding of what each of you are feeling. In order to put the past behind we must be willing to forgive. Pride and miscommunication often lead to broken relationships/bonds simply because no one wants to be the first to say, I’m sorry.
Above all, never allow someone else’s behavior to drain your strength; remember that you can EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF RELEASE AND RESTORATION THROUGH FORGIVENESS.
