Preparing for Spiritual Warfare (Lesson 9)
Wednesday Inspirational and Motivational Service
No army has ever gone on the battle field to fight a war without first preparing its soldiers physically, mentally and spiritually. These three ingredient properly mixed together becomes a potent weapon against Satan’s spiritual warfare games.
You must stand ready to fight the enemy wherever he may be. Remember God wants to use you on the battlefield. So stop being a couch potato, get up and get out.
Prepare yourself to be used by God. Become physically fit, mentally fit and spiritually fit. Your body is God’s holy temple. Stop abusing it, and learn to use it for the Glory of God. For the Word of God commands you to do this, it says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1 ESV)
In order to protect you from the enemy’s weapons of war, the Lord provides you with the best protection of all times. He says to you, “finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armor of God, which ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, which ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
A Christian is like a soldier whose task it is to do his commander’s will. No soldier would dare go off on his own in the midst of battle, nor would a faithful Christian desert his post when engaged in fighting evil.
The Christian is also like an athlete who prepares for the race, runs hard, and goes by the rules. We too must remember that, as Christians, discipline and honesty count for a great deal if we are to succeed.
Finally, the Christian is like a farmer who breaks up the stubborn earth to bring out the best that is in it. A farmer’s life is never easy, but the rewards are worth it. So too, for a Christian, we put our hand to the plow and do not turn back.
In all of those figures we have before us the example of Jesus Christ. Let us be strong in his name and followers of the one that win all battles that we may enter into. Never enter into a battle without the Lord on your side.
Therefore, I conclude this lesson by encouraging each of you with these few words, “PREPARE YOURSELF TO BE USED BY GOD!”
