WILL YOU CHOOSE YOUR OWN WAY?
WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:
“Trying to get your own way all the time leads to a shallow existence without Christ” (Galatians 5:19-21; MGS). Take a look at Jesus and his extraordinary mission; a model, an example, one to follow on the path for kingdom building. Jesus laid aside his garments when he was ready to go about his ministry; we too must do the same. Scripture reminds us this way, “…lay aside every weight and the sin that easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us, looking to Jesus…(Hebrew 12:1-2; NKJV).
What happens when you choose to live in obedience to God’s way and his purpose for your life? “He brings gifts into our lives…things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity; willingness to stick with things; a sense of compassion in the heart and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people (Galatians 5:22-23; MGS).”
You have been given an existence with purpose because you were created in the mind of God before you were conceived in your mother’s womb. Time and place became your existence here on earth, it was all the plan of God, one you had no part in. If he thought enough of you to allow your existence; then, what he has created he has the ability to perfect.
If and when we become serious about our mission, our carnal thoughts become a spiritual nature, the Holy Spirit stirs us to live a life that will count for God, the ultimate goal becomes one in which we no longer seek approval from “people” but one of preparing souls for kingdom building, which starts with self.
You may not understand why you go through many trials on this earthly pilgrimage; the fact is, the Lord often use trials to ready us with his plan in order to live in and out our purpose. A life of kingdom building brings about many changes in life in which you must be willing and ready to embrace. Scripture describes that life this way:
Your old life is dead, your new life means killing off everything connected with that way of death. Your new life in Christ brings change in how you perceive the value of such a great gift as being able to live a free life with purpose. You become embodied with the desire to do what is pleasing and acceptable before God. Your new life becomes one of compassion, kindness, humility, thankfulness, and of course the greatest trait of all “Love,” something you should never be without.
Remember the teachings of Jesus on the importance of unconditional love: “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you…by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another (John 13:34-35, KJV).”
Let’s set aside time today to pray for each other; our leaders and the world, especially those war torn regions in which suffering is evident. Be blessed my friends.
