DO NOT FRET; WAIT ON THE LORD:
WRITTEN BY SHIRLEY RHODES:
(Psalms 37; NKJV):
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord… (Verse 23); though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him in his hand… (Verse 24)
(1)Do not fret… “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4: 6), for he has promised that he will supply all your needs.
(3)Trust in the Lord and do good…Whatever you do for one another, do it with a spirit of love and do so freely, for Jesus says, “…Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8; NKJV).
(4) Delight yourself in the Lord…Make it your mission to become familiar with the message of Jesus and how he loved unconditionally, expecting nothing in return. When you delight in the gift of sacrificial love, your journey will be one of love, joy and inner peace in which your ultimate goal becomes one of sharing.
(5) Commit your way to the Lord…By being obedient to movement of the Holy Spirit you surrender the cares of this world and strive to reach that higher spiritual level in which you release self and allow the Spirit to shape and mold your life, equipping you for what is yet to come, blessings and more blessings.
(6) Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him…Trials and tribulations of this world are what helps to define who you are, because you know that the Lord is always waiting, it is within him that you are able to find rest for your weary soul.
(7)Bridle your anger… “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath”(Ephesians 4:26); you are given advice in scripture to help along life’s journey and when you allow anger to interfere think of how you are instructed to “Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given himself for us…” (Ephesians 5:1)
(8) Do not fret—it only causes harm… WAIT ON THE LORD; “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid…the Lord your God, he is the One who goes with you; he will not leave your side nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
“WAIT ON THE LORD, WAIT ON THE LORD for that is where your strength comes from.”
