OUR SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS ARE IN CHRIST (Ephesians 1:3-14)

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

WE ARE CREATED TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP

  1. God along is worthy of praise and worship
  2. He is the father of our Lord Jesus Christ
  3. Because we are believers of Jesus Christ, God has blessed us

WE ARE BLESSED (HOW)

  1. Receive benefits of Christ Redemption
  2. Through Christ death on the cross on our behalf
  3. By faith we belong to Christ therefore we have every spiritual blessing.
  4. These blessings are spiritual not material
  5. We have everything we need to grow spiritually
  6. We don’t have to ask for them just accept them and apply them to our daily lives.
  7. We have an intimate relationship with Christ we can enjoy these blessings now and through eternity.

THE PLACE WHERE OUR SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS ORIGINATE FROM:

  1. From Heaven where Christ now lives.
  2. Christ gift of the Holy Spirit is the source of all spiritual blessings.
  3. They came as a result of His accession into heaven.

Paul’s final point in this lesson was that these blessings are Spiritual and not material, and thus they are eternal and not temporal.

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

he predestined us[b] for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

making known[c] to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ

10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.

13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

14 who is the guarantee[d]of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it,[e] to the praise of his glory.
