RIDING THE WAVE OF HOLINESS ON OUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
Written by Shirley Rhodes
Since we are now in the season of high spirits with hearts willing to give and share, let’s take time to reflect on our spiritual journey and the course we’re on. There is no better time than the present; we’re in the mood of celebration and remembering a most sacred event, the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. The time for love, joy, peace for each other is expressed through gift giving, sharing, fellowship and family. Why not make it personal and make the choice to learn more about Jesus, the true meaning of his love for everyone. Focusing on the prize, remember that real wisdom, God‘s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings (James 3:17).
We can make the connection by allowing the Holy Spirit to enter in and birth in us a new life, real life,
where we are able to find peace like no other, for this is true holiness. Give unto the Lord glory due his name; bring an offering, come before him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness (1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV). Glory and honor are in his presence; strength and gladness in his place (27). The time is right, the time is now to be obedient and think in terms as to how you plan to live life; why not do so in true holiness before the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords this holiday season make that commitment.
We are in a period of change and choice, so embrace a new beginning, a fresh start that moves you into the presence of Holiness. God is every-where moving and breathing in each of us, he gives us freedom, he lifts us to higher grounds, but we must get to know him (the Source).
Holiness encourages our hearts to be humble and to seek those things that are heavenly, pure, honest and just. Scripture, God’s written and inspired word is what we devote our lives to by studying and abiding by its teachings. As we go about this season remembering our Savior, let us take time to learn his ways, our purpose which is displayed through his teachings and the manner in which he had care and compassion on all. He was sent to the world because God loved us and desired that we be able to understand his principles for living.
The coming of Jesus was pre-ordained and people lived in expectancy and anticipation in the arrival of his Holiness. When Jesus began his teachings, the message was clear:” The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he have anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; to heal the broken-hearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are bruised and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4: 18-19 KJV).
He said to those listening, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” (21). Holiness is what we need and should long for as we are coming to the close of another year, let’s remember to think about where we are, and make a choice to carve out a new beginning by submitting our lives to the One that gives true Holiness. This Is the Acceptable Year of the Lord. “NOW LET US, “RIDE THE WAVE OF HOLINESS ON OUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY!”
