UNRIGHTEOUS HEARTS BEFORE A JUST GOD
BY SHIRLEY RHODES
Unrighteous Hearts before a Just God: The Lord says, “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught” (Isaiah 29:13; NIV). Do you sometimes ask yourself (as for as your salvation is concerned), “Am I on the right track” or “How do I know that what’s being taught is honest and true?” We live in a world where religion, faith, how and whom we worship are many of the challenges Jesus faced as well as his followers in trying to get people to open their minds to receive the truth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ reaches every corner of the world and yet we struggle with what is truth.
God sent his Son so that we might know truth, His Word is the key to putting the pattern together one stone at a time. Scripture reminds us of this; don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty, tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart, earn a reputation for living well. Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don’t try to figure out everything on your own (Proverbs 3: 3-5). We must remain mindful of God’s promises to (us) his people; let not our hearts present themselves as Unrighteous Hearts Before a Just God.
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that he cannot save; neither is his ear heavy that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:1-2); sin separates us from God and his grace. We must walk a course of faith and submission by acknowledging that we are human in a weaken state and be willing to (or strive to) present ourselves whole and without a Unrighteous Hearts before a Just God. When we do he becomes our protector, provider and our hope as we journey through life here in this earthly plane.
If at some point we are able to define our lives, how will we sum it up, the obstacles we’ve overcome, can we say that we relied on and put all trust in the hands of our creator or will it be that we never took the moment to counsel with him before making decisions or choices. Are we one of those who feel that we don’t really need help; we are able to do everything on our own? The sad thing about such attitude is that we miss out on the Grace God has to offer, we struggle needlessly simply because pride hinders our spirit , our hearts become Unrighteous Before a Just God, who is always present and waiting for us to commune with him through prayers, faith and obedience.
Remember (recall) we are free to make our request (ask) known; Scripture reminds us to be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and mind through Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:6-7). So let us be mindful in seeking, and our approach not to present ourselves with Unrighteous Hearts before a Just God.
