JESUS PRAYER FOR BELIEVERS

Today is just another opportunity for all of us to follow Jesus lead in lifting up each other in PRAYER and PRAISE.  Believers from all around the world will be in Wednesday Night prayer meetings today.  They will be using Jesus example of INTERCESSORY PRAYER.  You pray for me and I will pray for you.  On yesterday we shared with you Jesus INTERCESSORY PRAYER and His PRAYER for HIS DISCIPLES.  Today we will conclude with “JESUS PRAYER FOR BELIEVERS!”

After praying for his disciples, Jesus prayed for all who would ever believe in him because of their testimony.  In a sense, everyone who has become a Christian has done so through the apostles’ message because they wrote the New Testament and were the founders of the Christian church.  So Jesus was praying for all the believers who would give us confidence as we work for his Kingdom.

And this is Jesus prayer for all believer, He begin by saying, “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”  (John 17:20-26 ESV).

Let us understand this prayer request that Jesus has presented to us in the fact that Jesus wants all believers (the eleven disciples and all others) to be with him where he is so they can see his glory.  What wonderful assurance Jesus prayer gives us to know that the Lord of heaven wants us to be with him.  This request impacts our present experience and future hope.  In the present, we unite with Christ in God the Father.  In the future, we will be with Christ in eternal glory and enjoy with him the love he experienced with the Father forever.

Therefore, as we follow in Jesus footsteps, let us use the day, this Wednesday as another day of INTERCESSORY PRAYER.  I pray for you and you pray for me, and together as we lift each other up in prayer we will discover that our prayers have power and the power that God will rain down upon us can and will move mountains.  All our troubles, heartaches, pain, sickness and diseases, financial problems, joblessness, stress, lack of will power, these mountains will disappear into the sea.

Troubles don’t last always, but God’s people who pray in the spirit for each other become the prayer army that will defeat the enemies of God.  Then we will know that “JESUS PRAYER WAS FOR ALL BELIEVERS!
