A PRAYER GOD LOVES TO ANSWER
The prayer of Jabez is a prayer that has reverberated around the world. It is a very short prayer and like so many of the prayers that were written in the Bible went unnoticed by many of our Bible teachers. Now there is a book written about this prayer called, “THE PRAYER OF JABEZ.” I encourage all who have not had the opportunity to read it, please do so, and to those who have read please read it, please read it again and use it for your teaching lessons on effective prayer. If you ever read it and have the opportunity to pray this prayer more than one time, it will have an impact on your life. How do I know that it will significantly influence your life? Because of my own experience and the people that I have personally introduced it to, and the thousands of people that have participate in my Bible Study on this book from all around the world.
Here is that short prayer, “ 9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez,[a] saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.” (1 Chronicles 4:9-10 NIV)
This is truly a prayer that God loves to answer, why? Because Jabez’s points to the divine answer for all human difficulty, notwithstanding even years of pain and problems clearly, a prayer God loves to answer. We may learn: (1) God longs to bless people who desire a life that prospers with the fullness of God. “Oh, that you would bless me”; (2) God is ready to fulfill people with a vision for a life that extends beyond the status quo-“and enlarge my territory”; (3) God is ready to empower all who invite His works and resources of power-“that Your hand would be with me”; (4) God will grant deliverance from physical and spiritual destruction to all who call-“keep me from evil.”
In our daily prayer lives, God prepares us to do extraordinary things, and to reach levels that our minds have never dreamed of reaching before. If we learn to pray this prayer daily, believing that God will answer it no matter how many difficulties we may face, and no matter how many people tell us no, with patience and persistence, God will answer our prayer. Why? Because He is a prayer answering God and He loves this prayer.
