We all know that life can be discouraging. Like everyone else, I have been through times when it seemed that everything was going wrong. In those moments, it would have been easy to rationalize throwing in the towel and walking away from the situation; but whenever I managed to stay and work through the situation, it proved to be a life-changing event. There is something about standing up in the face of adversity, which tests and strengthens our character in profound ways. We see this scene played out daily on our television screens of people from the Middle East being bombed and slaughter in the streets by their own government leaders for standing up for their God given rights. Christians and believers from all over the world are facing the same sort of persecution for their beliefs.
However, we must know that our faith is rooted and grounded in our hope of the promise of eternal life. Knowing that promise is a guarantee from our Lord and Savior, we must never give in and never give up, because God is our protector and we can be assured, that although the enemy might destroy this physical body he can never destroy our soul. Why? Because when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God transferred our citizenship from this world to heaven (Philippians 3:20), Thus, while we live on this earth, we are like foreigners in this world. This world has become a “foreign land” to believers because our real home is heaven and we are only on this earth temporarily.
Now let us look closely at (Romans 12:1-2), “I beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” In our realization of the great plan of salvation, particularly all the mercies (benefits), it brings to us as Christians, we should always be willing to respond appropriately. When it speaks of the word “World”, it is literally referring to a godless system. We are not to accept the pattern of an age whose god is the Devil. On the contrary, we are to be transformed by a renewed mind committed to the ideals of the kingdom of God. Therefore, we must always be willing to fight the good fight, stand on principle, and stand up for that which is right. We must never allow no individual are no government to take away our God given rights. We are the children of the King. The one that sits high and looks low, the one that sees all things, and knows are things. Our mind is in His mind, and His mind is in ours, therefore man may destroy this body, but he can never destroy our soul.
Let us understand this one truth, and that is God initiated our calling, based totally on His own wisdom, and we who are called must always respond and choose to follow Him. Know that all believers have been called and chosen by God, therefore our Salvation is guaranteed, and we can rest assured that we are Blessed and God will continue to shower us with greater blessings day by day.
Now be at peace my brothers and sisters, when life’s challenges feel so overwhelming, and you continue to face trials and persecutions from the world; remember to never give up and never give in, rest assured that JOY will come in the morning. Peace and prosperity be yours to enjoy this day with all God’s love and mercies, in Jesus name. I remain your brother in Jesus Christ, Pastor Davis/Master Teacher!
